Mrs. Lemur's Picture
Mrs. Lemur, Greenville, South Carolina Age and Occupation: 22, Graduate Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 22, Security Officer Engagement Date: October 9, 2012 Wedding Date: May 2013 Venue: Pleasant Ridge Camp & Retreat Center About Me: I may fancy myself a doctor after too many episodes of House—but in reality I'm finally almost done with my degree in business administration (less than three months left!). My fiance and I met at school in undergrad hundreds of miles away from either of our hometowns and have been happily running and hiking together ever since. We're undertaking a long distance relationship as I finish school and we plan our casual wedding for a day after graduation—needless to say, it will be the busiest and most exciting weekend of our lives so far!
About Mrs. Lemur

Hello from Mr. & Miss Lemur!

January 18th, 2013 @ 6:42 am by Mrs. Lemur

I really am very excited to be the next bee. I originally started writing a blog just for fun—it helped me get my thoughts organized and put pictures and words together all in one place. A few weeks in, I shared it with Mr. Lemur’s sister, who is currently working in Africa, to keep her updated on the wedding planning. The more I wrote, the more I loved it, and I submitted my application to Weddingbee not thinking there was much of a chance! But here I am, and when I saw the lemur icon, I just couldn’t say no. Mr. Lemur said I should choose the jackrabbit because I love to run, but the little lemur reminds me of my childhood days watching Zoboomafoo. Anyone else? I discovered I can still sing the whole theme song! (Maybe that’s not something I should admit.)

Photo credit/ This was a great show (when I was ten, but it was still a great show).

Confession time: I don’t actually know what to write next. Writing posts to prepare for my application was natural to me, but somehow writing an introductory post seems way more difficult! I even checked out the first posts of some of my favorite bloggers, Miss Gray Wolf, Mrs. Wallaby, and Miss Otter for some inspiration. I’m afraid I can’t top those posts—but Mr. Lemur says to just talk about us, so here it goes.

Mr. Lemur and I “met” his freshman year of undergrad when I sat two rows in front of him in a computer programming class. He knew who I was, but I had absolutely no idea who he was—give me a break, there were forty guys in the class and only three girls! Fast forward a year, and I developed a crush on the cute concessions manager at work, thinking we were seeing each other for the first time. That made for some awkward moments after we started dating and he started talking about the class we had taken together. Oops!

Unfortunately, Mr. Lemur has already finished his undergraduate degree in criminal justice, while I still have a semester left of my master’s degree in business administration. We’re long distance for the rest of our engagement, which is tougher on our relationship than our wedding planning—but I still miss having him with me to choose which font to use or put decorations in little bags. Yes, I’m definitely an obsessive-compulsive planner, while Mr. Lemur is laid back and easy going. I will say that decisions are much easier this way. When I can’t select ribbon—for real, this was a frustrating moment in Walmart last week—I need him here to remind me that it really doesn’t matter in the long run. Our wedding is about ending up married!

Personal photo. Hiking in Utah! Can we please go back?

We enjoy a comfortable life of hiking, running, and relaxing—and hopefully our wedding will reflect that! We’re getting married at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains in a casual camp lodge with open beams and a wide deck. I don’t want to give too much away, but we’re looking forward to having our families heavily involved in the ceremony and simple reception. You’ll just have to wait for more planning posts to hear the rest! I can’t wait to get started.

Welcome Miss L!
Haha Zaboomafoo didn’t air here until I was about 14, but my little brother used to watch it and sang the song the entire day, so I can sing it too… in spanish of course.

Welcome, Lemurs! Can’t wait to see how your planning unfolds, especially with the challenge of a shorter engagement. Best wishes for smooth sailing through your final semester of school, and all the wedding details.
