Coral & Seafoam

January 21st, 2013 @ 12:04 pm by Mrs. Lemur

So far, the decision on “wedding colors” has been the easiest—but even then, that doesn’t mean everyone agrees! I was positive I wanted to include the color coral in the wedding colors. Sure, it’s trendy—or maybe it used to be trendy, and I’m just that far behind?—but it’s also at least a somewhat flattering color on me and the tones are good for a spring wedding.

Coral it was, then.

The slight problem came in deciding on a second color. Everyone says you’re “supposed” to have two wedding colors, right? I was fairly set on seafoam—I mean, look at these inspiration photos! How could you say no?

So, coral and seafoam were definitely in. I debated for a while if I needed to have “secondary colors.” Eventually I decided that it doesn’t really matter! If I wanted to, I could add shades of blue, yellow, or lavender. Any of them would look good with coral and seafoam and with each other, so I don’t have to worry too much.

Did you use coral as one of your wedding colors? What other colors do you think would work?

I am using coral and pool/malibu blue and I guess ivory as an accent color. I love those colors together and I feel it will be perfect for our beachy theme because we are having a destination wedding.
I think coral is a beautiful color and can look good with many other colors like purples, greens, yellows…etc. Good luck to you, excited to see what you come up with and see your ideas!

I am using coral as well! and I’m also using a similar accent color. I have told everyone it is a light teal but it might be more of a seafoam. Its kind of between a tiffany blue and a mint :) We must have similar taste. All the photos you posted are on my pinterest board!

I’m using a similar color palette with aqua, pale pink, pale orange and gold as my colors!

Those are my colors, with Gold/champagne accents. I’m also using some burlap & lace table runners.

@joanne: I think those white frames are from Ikea; seems like they turned up very recently in a post. Then you just need to create a chevron-striped background and find some sort of paintable numbers that fit. If you try it, please post your results – good luck!

I don’t think you need to “make” the chevron – you can use scrapbook paper cut to size. My experiance is that this is usually cheaper then creating/printing.

Also, for numbers – check micheal’s wood crafts section and the ‘address numbers’ section of home depot and lowe’s.

I loved coral and seafoam when I started planning…but seafoam/mint is an unbelievable hard color to pin down/be consistent with…When done right, it’s gorgeous…but again, just hard to find.

We are having coral/peach flowers…BM dresses are periwinkle, MOH is in navy and groomsmen all in light gray. I would have never thought I’d have these colors but once you start looking, you quickly get ideas of what is do-able and what isn’t ….good luck!

I used a similar color scheme but I called it teal & peach. Our wedding was very small and had kind of a shabby chic feel to it…as well as a bird theme.

Yay for so many other coral brides!

@HaveGroomWillTravel ugh I had the exact same problem! when we get to bridesmaids dresses I’ll tell you more about the ridiculous problems I had with colors. They look gorgeous together though don’t they?

Coral was kind of hard to find sometimes too! I ordered tissue paper, etc. online.

I’m using orange/coral colors with eggshell blue accents. My wedding theme is rustic so we wanted to use those colors to give it a sunny sort of feel, and we think it will go well with the sunflowers we plan on using for bouquets and pew decorations.

I really, really like that combo of colors. I wouldn’t use them as my wedding colors, because they’re not “us”, but I’ve seen a lot of wedding with similar combos and they are to die for.

Coral bride here! At first, I was going for almost the exact same colors as you. This was before I decided on a venue. After I decided on a venue, I thought that the blue and coral I was using looked weird with the deep gold walls of the reception room. I think its beautiful for an openy, airy spring like space but our venue is not that. So I am doing navy blue and coral with gold accents to tie in the venue decor.

I am using mint & pink! So very similar colors, I’m getting married late August, I didn’t want all pastels. So I decided on a medium pink, mint, & grey. Mint & grey are my main colors, while pink & some white (flowers) will be accent colors! I’m also using grey & white chevron table runners for my reception, I loved the way they brought fun into the tables! We found donna Morgan BM dresses in “spearmint”, I think that’s the “mint” I’ve been looking for! She has a lot of colors, for those of you looking for mints /teals /aquas!
