My (Not So) Little Girls

January 22nd, 2013 @ 6:09 am by Mrs. Otter

Hive, I have so much to update you on! So excuse me if I jump around a little bit; I just have too many things to share! First of all: about my little girls. They aren’t so little anymore, but let me explain.

Instead of having flower girls or a ring bearer, I wanted to include my favorite little girls. These two babies have been so important to me since…well, since they were born! It’s a bit of a running joke in our family that my brother and I were with them so much that each one of them could be our twins. And it’s completely true. :)

K, the one on the right in this photo, is my twin. We are exactly alike in so many ways, and I tell everyone that I know that I taught her everything she knows. ;) Examples include a love of cheerleading and taking way too many photos. I love these two babies, who obviously aren’t babies anymore, and I wanted to make sure they were included in the wedding. Since we weren’t having flower girls, I decided on an alternative.

I thought this would be a great solution to make sure my girls were included and felt important, but without having them be traditional flower girls. I know that having them around is going to be a joy for me, and I’m so glad that both of them are excited to be in the wedding. :)

If you didn’t have flower girls or a ring bearer, did you do something unique to incorporate your favorite kids?

We are doing the same thing! I don’t have children but my 5 year old nephew and 3 year old niece are definitely going to be involved in our wedding. I think they are going to carry a “here comes the bride” sign as well but we haven’t made it yet.

I have a very special little girl in my life as well (my cousin’s daughter and my god daughter). She will be almost 10yrs old for our wedding and she has agreed to do a reading. I think it will be so special for her and it obviously means the world to my fiancé and I.

Our family didn’t seem to do well at making little boys so all I have is three beautiful little girls to work with. (It’s a good thing we aren’t royalty.) This is not the first time we’ve done this and for my sister’s wedding we even put my niece in a coat with tails and a tophat (don’t worry is was covered with flowers) – she was the most adorable ring bearer we’d ever seen and everyone thought it was the cutest idea to have a girl as the ring bearer. For my wedding this year it will be the same niece as the ring bearer (but she gets to wear a flowery dress this time) and my baby cousin and other baby neice as flower girls. They will probably all stand on my side…maybe. My older niece is mature enough and likes my FI enough that I think I could convince her to stand there. But basically – I have no little boys and I am using three little girls in my party as my mini-attendents. I love the idea of huge bridal parties so I am so excited about it.
I have also heard of having a younger friend/ family member stand as the junior bride or the junior groom. This way they won’t be made to practice any responsibilities but will still be represented in your special occasion.
