The Unabridged Short Stories & Books…of the Lemur’s Wedding

Just a short post to tell you that Mr. Lemur and I paid a visit to the largest used bookstore in Greenville—Mr. K’s Used Books—a while back to fill our vision of a book-themed wedding. We knew we were looking for classics and books we had read and loved, such as Jane Austen’s Pride & Prejudice and Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women. OK, maybe that was just me; Mr. Lemur was looking at Mark Twain and Charles Dickens.
We bought each of the following books for about five dollars each-not bad for hardbound classics!

  • Pride & Prejudice
  • O Pioneers
  • Doctor Zhivago
  • Selected Stories and Poems of Edgar Allen Poe
  • Uncle Tom’s Cabin
  • The Scarlet Pimpernel
  • Wuthering Heights
  • Mutiny on the Bounty

Here’s Mr. Lemur modeling our books…

Nice. But really, see how all the books are different sizes, shapes, and colors, yet have a cohesive theme? Perfect! Now I just need forty more or so…

Did you have a certain “theme” you followed for your wedding?

I love books. I also love that the books you use in your wedding can be kept in a library at home. =D So, it’s not really just a wedding cost. LOVE!

I love your theme! Mr. Tzatziki is a photographer, and I was/am an English major and lover of words. So we are doing a “books and cameras” theme. The centerpieces will be old books that we will acquire much like you and Mr. Lemur, arranged with vintage cameras from Mr. Tzatziki’s collection. I’m thinking some flower buds in small vases or maybe strings of pearls layed over the display as well.

Those books are really pretty. I have a thing for pretty book spine designs.

We are using books for part of our wedding, and found some very nice ones at the local thrift store that have great spines. I think we spent about $10 for 5?

@MissTzatziki: Oh I love the photography idea! We’re not photographers (obviously!) but for someone has this kind of interest, it’s a great way to incorporate it into your decorations. I love making your wedding personal :)
