Mrs. Otter's Picture
Mrs. Otter, Indianapolis, IN Age and Occupation: 22, Freelance Social Media Consultant Fiance's Age and Occupation: 23, CVS Shift Supervisor Engagement Date: November 11, 2011 Wedding Date: April 2013 Venue: Mustard Seed Gardens About Me: I'm a born and raised Hoosier girl, but a diehard Michigan Wolverines fan. I have a tendency to take too many photos and spend full days having TV marathons. Mr. Otter and I met in high school, started dating a couple years later, and moved in after a month of being official. He is easygoing and makes plans on a whim, while I'm color coordinating my planner and organizing everything in sight. He hates glitter, but it's my favorite thing. I have tattoos and he still won't get one, despite my attempts to convince him. We're planning a small, rustic, and (hopefully!) peony-filled wedding to get our married life started. (And yes, there will be glitter involved!)

The Invitation Reveal!

January 28th, 2013 @ 11:52 am by Mrs. Otter

The time has come, hive! I’m revealing our invitations today! But before I do, I have to do two things.

First, if you’re doing the math in your head thinking “But, Otter, it’s only the end of January. Why are you sending your invitation so early?” Well hive, by now it has already happened, but on the day we went to get our invitations weighed, we were informed that postage rates were about to go up. While we had to put the extra amount on the return RSVP card, I wasn’t paying for extra postage to delay sending the invitations by a couple of weeks. Instead, out they went! Plus, as not everyone is lucky enough to have the great job that I have, I was concerned that some individuals may not be able to get the time off if we didn’t let them know more specific details sooner rather than later.

Second, yes, I’m a giant nerd. So I went ahead and made Mr. Otter stop and take a photo of me with the sample invitation before we went in to the post office.

Thankfully, MOH Cubbie is leaps and bounds ahead of us in terms of design and made her own version of our invitation, featuring our wedding colors. As soon as we saw it, we were hooked! So without any more delays, here are our invitations!

They turned out great! I love the RSVP choices!!! I told you we were really inspired by your invitation inspirations, but my parents ultimately ended up gently nudging us into getting much more formal invitations from Vera Wang. But we chose to keep the RSVP choices like yours to interject a bit of fun!

Less than three months to go, where has the time gone?!

I like them! We have the same wedding date as you, and we were going back & forth about sending them early because of the stupid postage increase. It’s not the cost that bugs me, it’s that we’ll have a dumb 2 cent stamp ruining our pretty envelope :( Oh well. I’m going to take one to the post office this weekend and see if in fact we do have to add the 2 cent stamp.. keeping my fingers crossed the 65 cent one on there will be more than enough. It’s been very hard having the invitations ready to go.. I want to stick them in the mailbox SO bad.. I’ll wait a few more weeks though.

Those are sooo cool! I love your RSVP options! I showed Fh and he just laughed, then wondered if “she’d be pissed we stole ‘em” LOL…

I think they came out awesome and really well done! Your MOHfriend is a great artist!

I was told that the forever stamps will continue to be honored, and you don’t have to add any stamps. I saw it on the news the other night. Hope you don’t have to add! :)

The forever stamp should be good…hence the name “forever” and no monetary denomination on the stamp :)

I hope forever stamps are good because I bought my postage months ago and don’t want to ruin the outside by putting 2 cent stamps!!

@Brooklyn55: Forever stamps still work! That’s why they’re forever stamps—they never run out. I bought more than enough stamps (forever stamps) than I needed right before the price went up so I would have enough for invitations, thank you cards, etc. :)

I love the colors! Really cute and unique.
Just an aside though: I thought you weren’t supposed to put registry info on the invite. Is that an old thing?

I really like these, Miss Otter, especially with the ‘thought’ bubbles. Super cute!

P.S. What a cute freaking idea Hatch My House is! Oh my gosh!
