Mrs. Gloves, Columbus, OhioAge and Occupation: 25, Executive AssistantFiance's Age and Occupation: 25, FirefighterEngagement Date: December 29, 2011Wedding Date: January 2013Venue: Cathedral ceremony, reception in a converted hardware warehouseAbout Me: I’m a blond-haired, blue-eyed Midwestern girl, who had grand plans of an international career, before the economy came crashing down right as I graduated college. I love travel, exploring other cultures, cooking for friends and family, and relaxing in a pedicure chair. My fiancé is the perfect, level-headed and logical counterpart for my impulsive tendencies, and the nicest person I’ve ever met. Lately, we like to spend our time renovating our new home, planning our wedding, and fitting in date night with friends. We are so looking forward to a wedding weekend jam-packed with all of our favorite people, plenty of food, and flowing champagne!
Well hello again, hive! McGlovin and I have been married for exactly one month, and it has been…awesome. I mean, it’s exactly the same as it was two months ago, but that was still awesome.
Miss Jackrabbit, Brighton, UKAge and Occupation: 26, Office ManagerFiance's Age and Occupation: 25, SongwriterEngagement Date: October 5, 2012Wedding Date: September 2013Venue: Fabrica Gallery, BrightonAbout Me: I honestly thought I'd go all Monica Geller when I started planning our wedding, but in truth, things couldn't have gone much differently. I am working my way through this venture, figuring things out as I go, and adopting a 'Que Sera, Sera,' approach to making decisions. When I'm not organising the biggest day of my life, I can usually be found drinking a glass of wine, crafting up one thing or another, or stopping my cat from head-butting me in the face.
On Tuesday 5th February 2013, MPs approved legislation for same-sex marriage in England and Wales.
I am overwhelmingly thrilled by this.
There is argument by those who do not approve that gay and lesbian couples have the right to a civil partnership, and, essentially, “shouldn’t that be enough,” but I absolutely disagree.
Marriage is a strong word. It connotes more than just a legality, but a commitment, a declaration of love. “Civil Partnership” just doesn’t have the same ring. And calling it a different name makes it different—it creates an “us and them.” Why should there be any differences when it comes to love?
Mrs. Toadstool, Obregon, MexicoAge and Occupation: 23, Research AssistantFiance's Age and Occupation: 25, Sales ManagerEngagement Date: October 1, 2011Wedding Date: December 2012Venue: Hacienda los AgavesAbout Me: I’m a born and bred Mexican girl with a severe coffee addiction, an obsession for books and an aversion for exercise. I like to plan things, so this wedding’s my dream project---I just need to remind myself from time to time that I’m the bride and not just the planner. I recently realized brown’s my favorite color as I was trying to incorporate it in every aspect of our wedding and I'm dreaming of an autumn vibe since we don’t have that around here. I’m marrying my best friend and partner in crime on the day of our nine-year anniversary! He’s an awesome, smart, fun guy who is patient, and crazy enough to spend the rest of his life with me. We’re planning our not-so-dreamy dream wedding in December in a non-traditional way and making it our own.
I can’t remember when, or where (where on the internetz, of course) I saw a cute wedding pic with the couple kissing and holding in front of them the Xbox “Achievement unlocked” sign, and right then and there I knew we should have one at our wedding. You see, my husband and his friends are big Xbox enthusiasts (BIG), and I knew this would be a hit.
Mrs. Candy Apple, Princeton Junction, NJ/ Seattle, WAAge and Occupation: 26, Project EditorFiance's Age and Occupation: 26, AttorneyEngagement Date: May 9, 2010Wedding Date: August 2011Venue: St. Joseph's Parish, Seattle Tennis ClubAbout Me: I am a Pacific Northwesterner, born and bred. I have lived in many cities---Santa Clara, Durham (England); Florence; Boston; Princeton Junction---but my heart will always be nestled up near the Cascades and Olympics, which is why we are holding our wedding there. I am a bookworm and a History nerd: I love that my life consists of books, books, and more books, since I work in Publishing! Recently, all waking time not consumed by work and my daily commute has been overtaken by wedding planning. Well, that, and watching Premier-League soccer. There is nothing I love more than a good Tana French mystery, traveling to new places, Anthropologie shopping sprees, Iittala dishware, Kate Spade shoes, impeccable typefaces (think: Archer), and a nice English ale (hellooo, Old Speckled Hen!). Oh, and did I mention my obsession with wedding blogs? Yeah, there’s that too. Join Mr. Candy Apple and me as we prep for our wedding, and, more importantly, our marriage!
Once all of our formal family portraits were done, Mr. CA and I looked around and realized that almost everyone had left and our cocktail hour was half gone. We had asked the limo to take some of the wedding party back to the Club during the family pictures, so while we waited for the limo to return, Sarah grabbed us for a few more “yay we just got married!” couple portraits. The resulting pictures are my favorite pictures of the day. We are just so relaxed and happy. And newly married!
Mrs. Beanstalk, Boston/Delray BeachAge and Occupation: 27 Retail Manager & Freelance Graphic DesignerFiance's Age and Occupation: 30 & UI DeveloperEngagement Date: July 4, 2011Wedding Date: October 2012Venue: Sundy House in Delray Beach, FloridaAbout Me: I’m a Miami girl living up in New England. I went to art school. I’m addicted to coffee (especially of the Cuban variety). I’m engaged to the most amazing guy who always knows what to say or do to make me laugh! I love to bake cupcakes and cookies. I work in the fashion industry. I have a huge sweet tooth. Green is my favorite color (but pink is a close second). I am a huge music lover and usually have a different favorite song each week. Photography is one of my true passions. I love fairy tales and pumpkins. I like all things pretty and ruffly. I love to read (oh, and I love to write). My fiancé and I are planning an October destination wedding in Delray Beach, Florida that is going to be filled with tons of DIY details and, of course, pumpkins!
We left for our honeymoon on Tuesday (our wedding was on Sunday). This worked out perfectly because we were able to sleep in on Monday and then take our time as we drove back down to Miami from our wedding weekend in Delray Beach. Once in Miami, we headed to my house where Mr. B was able to do some laundry (we’d been in Florida for about a week now) and we could veg out on the couch as we watched TruTV and munched on leftover candy and cupcakes (the most PERFECT way to spend the day!). We would have relaxed poolside, but there was a slight chill in the air. (It was actually really cold for Miami standards.)
Later that night, my parents drove us to the airport and we checked into a room at the MIA Hotel (Miami International Airport Hotel). The MIA Hotel is conveniently located right in the American Airlines terminal (the airline we would be flying)! I was skeptical about staying there, because, well, it’s located in the airport, and it was our honeymoon, after all! But when push came to shove, staying there made the most sense! If we’d stayed anywhere else (including my house) we’d have had to get up super early to drive to the airport in order to make our 8:00 AM flight to St. Lucia! I think it’s safe to say we both were a bit scared of missing the flight, seeing as the week before I missed mine, which resulted in tears and over 12 hours spent at Logan Airport!
The MIA Hotel was nice, for what it was—a place to sleep before our honeymoon began! And I have to admit, I’ve flown to and from Miami a gazillion times and have always secretly wanted to stay in the hotel. It’s sort of a retro landmark, right smack in the airport!
Miss Mongoose, New Haven, CTAge and Occupation: 28, Digital AdvertisingFiance's Age and Occupation: 30, Business DevelopmentEngagement Date: November 19th, 2011Wedding Date: May 2013Venue: Hotel Nelligan in Montreal, CAAbout Me:
I was born and raised in Queens, NY (though you would never know due to my lack of a "real" New York accent) but currently live in Connecticut with my fiance. Anyone who knows me knows that I have a crazy obsession for planning and organizing things, so it comes as no surprise that I'm currently obsessed with planning our wedding. I love dancing, music, traveling, reading fiction novels, cooking, the color blue, cupcakes, all things space science-related and TV shows created by Joss Whedon and J.J. Abrams. My fiance and I have been together for seven years and are so excited to finally get married next year. We are planning a peacock-themed destination wedding in Montreal, one of our favorite cities in the world, with 100 or so of our closest family and friends. While we may look very different on the outside, we have eerily similar personalities (probably due to the fact that we share the exact same birthday) and share very similar passions. But above all else, we love each other and love to have FUN!!!
Right around the time we got engaged, I started thinking about ceremony music (wayyy too early in the planning process, I know, but I couldn’t help myself). While I think classical/traditional wedding music is beautiful, I knew Mr. M and I would want to have songs that were more contemporary. After all, we are majormusic junkies. While browsing online one day, I came across the various works of the Vitamin String Quartet. Now I know VSQ is old news to anyone with wedding on the brain; however, I had never heard of them prior to planning my own wedding…and I remember feeling like I had just struck gold. This was exactly what we had in mind for our wedding—string versions of our favorite contemporary songs.
We asked our wedding planner for string quartet recommendations and we ultimately decided to move forward with Ontario-based Cadenza Strings. They have a TON of contemporary songs in their repertoire and charge a small fee to learn any new ones. Last month, it was time to submit our selections so they could learn any new songs in time for the wedding.

Miss Blue Whale, College Park, MDAge and Occupation: 27, Graduate StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 33, Graduate StudentEngagement Date: March 10, 2012Wedding Date: May 2013Venue: Southern Tree Plantation in Blairsville, GAAbout Me: I love bright colors, glitter, sugar, cheese, tiny animals, talking in silly accents, dancing, and all things music. I love to plan things, but when it comes time to execute the plans, I tend to panic. My friends tell me that I remind them of a mix between a cartoon character and a Disney Princess. Mr. Blue Whale and I are Southerners at heart, but we’ve been transplanted to the East Coast for school. We both love barbecues, star-gazing, bonfires, music, making up nonsense words, and generally being silly. Our wedding will be a fun-filled destination wedding in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It will most certainly feature bright colors, '80s music, and glitter.
Did you think this was a post about Say Yes to the Dress? That would be SYTTD. This is SYTYCD—So You Think You Can Dance, AKA best. show. ever.
I used to not watch TV. Why? I have no idea. Then one summer I got an internship and discovered the joys of laying on the couch every evening watching re-runs of Grey’s Anatomy and eating ice cream out of the tub. It was also that summer that I discovered So You Think You Dance. And this happened to be the summer that Allison Holker was competing on the show.
Who remembers this? So epic. (Image from Amptoons)
Let me cut to the chase. She rocks. Every season, I compare every other dancer to her. When she came back as an all-star, I almost had a heart attack I was so excited. And THEN, I discovered this…
Mrs. Lemur, Greenville, South CarolinaAge and Occupation: 22, Graduate StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 22, Security OfficerEngagement Date: October 9, 2012Wedding Date: May 2013Venue: Pleasant Ridge Camp & Retreat CenterAbout Me: I may fancy myself a doctor after too many episodes of House—but in reality I'm finally almost done with my degree in business administration (less than three months left!). My fiance and I met at school in undergrad hundreds of miles away from either of our hometowns and have been happily running and hiking together ever since. We're undertaking a long distance relationship as I finish school and we plan our casual wedding for a day after graduation—needless to say, it will be the busiest and most exciting weekend of our lives so far!
This isn’t exactly the post I wanted to write. I wanted to write about how I let my bridesmaids (my two sisters, remember?) pick whatever they wanted, how they’re going to wear their dresses over and over, and how it was so easy and casual and perfectly coordinating without being too matchy.
Well. It didn’t work just like that. But first let’s look at my inspiration pictures.
Mrs. Sword, ChicagoAge and Occupation: 28, Nanny/ActressFiance's Age and Occupation: 28, Software EngineerEngagement Date: February 19, 2012Wedding Date: March 2013Venue: Embassy Suites Bloomington West in Bloomington, MNAbout Me: I am a true girly-girl originally from the great state of Minnesota and my fiancé hails from the beautiful country of Scotland. We met and fell in love in our favorite city, Chicago, and are having a blast blending our cultures for "A Highland Fairy Tale" wedding! We are truly a case of opposites attract in that he’s a world traveling introvert and I’m a social butterfly who is never too far from home. We both love hanging out with family and friends, fine dining, and laughing at ourselves. He drinks a lot of beer and I talk too much. We wouldn’t have it any other way!
Since Mr. Sword is too scared busy to write a guest post, I am sharing this post on his behalf, but all of the information gathering and graph making done in preparation for said blog post is courtesy of the ever-cute, ever-Scottish, and ever-skinny Mr. Sword.
Awww! Isn’t he adorable in his kilt jacket?
I know everyone loves to see a good breakdown of the guest list and how many people are attending or not attending, and I’m no different. Except instead of just breaking it down by family and friends of the bride or the groom, I think, especially in our case, it’s equally if not more interesting to look at the breakdown by in state, out of state, and out of country.
Mrs. Coach, DallasAge and Occupation: 21, Undergraduate StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 23, Retail Sales/ManagementEngagement Date: October 14, 2011Wedding Date: October 2012Venue: Piazza in the VillageAbout Me: I was born and raised in the piney woods of East Texas, but Dallas has recently stolen my heart (along with Mr. Coach, of course!) I love classic rock, suspense novels, and my sweet Mini Aussie puppy, Memphis. My fiancé and I are planning a traditional wedding filled with romance, and we can’t wait to combine our own personal touches with a timeless affair. We’re young in years, but are also old souls that love good food and great music, and enjoy many things that are well before our time. We’re planning this wedding together, learning lots, and relying on good wine and reruns of Seinfeld to keep us sane along the way!
It was the strangest turn of events, too, because if you remember, we left off with both of us looking more than just a little excited to be getting ready for our wedding day:

There, I said it. I’m not what you’d call a geek (not cool or clever enough to be), but I enjoy science-y things. I like space and the universe, I like Facebook pages to do with science jokes, and interesting facts about sea creatures. I listen to podcasts by Professor Brian Cox before I go to sleep. I find this stuff really interesting.
Mrs. Boa Constrictor, Isabela, Puerto RicoAge and Occupation: 22, Undergraduate StudentFiance's Age and Occupation: 23, Soon-to-be Civil EngineerEngagement Date: May 19, 2011Wedding Date: May 2012Venue: El Faro Convention CenterAbout Me: I’m a Caribbean gal, born and bred on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico, finishing her last year as an undergrad. I describe myself as a “closet nerd” as I secretly enjoy reading research papers, playing video games, and geeking out on Lord of the Rings movie marathons. I will marry my college sweetheart, a soon-to-be civil engineer, who loves Legos and old-school Puerto Rican cooking. This is sure to be a fast-paced year with our wedding, honeymoon, college graduation, new jobs, and a cross-country move all within less than 30 days of each other!
Mrs. Wizard, PittsburghAge and Occupation: 22, Front-end Web DeveloperFiance's Age and Occupation: 23, Software ProgrammerEngagement Date: June 8, 2011Wedding Date: June 2012Venue: Glades Pike Winery, Somerset, PAAbout Me: I’m a born-and-raised Pittsburgh girl marrying a born-and-raised Pittsburgh dude. I’m a stubborn Italian with a huge personality, and I love oldies music, baking, housewifery, and all things Harry Potter. He’s a quiet, level-headed guy who loves my cooking and laughs good-naturedly at my lack of verbal filter. He’s an intellectual who likes to learn, and can often be found going on "Wiki walks" and landing on the most hilariously weird articles imaginable. We truly are a case of "opposites attract," and we balance each other out perfectly. We keep each other sane and make each other laugh so hard we cry almost every day, and that’s all I could ever ask for. Together we’re planning a simple, elegant, summery June wedding, and we can’t wait to be Mr. and Mrs.!
Well, hive, I think it’s about that time. And of course, I have to say goodbye in the only way that someone named Mrs. Wizard should:
It’s been almost a year since I was introduced here, and I never imagined how rewarding blogging here would be. I remember the day I got my acceptance email, tumbling out of bed at 5:00 AM and running downstairs to tell Mr. Wiz, “I got accepted to blog for Weddingbee!!” I was so utterly thrilled, but I had no idea just what I was in for. I thought I would spend the next handful of months telling people about our wedding, recap it when it was over, and then peace out.
