Panda Engagement Pictures

February 11th, 2013 @ 10:04 am by Miss Panda

Last post, I talked about some of the inspirational pictures that I had for our winter engagement shoot. Well, what did we end up doing? I must admit we kind of took the lazy (and way smarter) route and just let our wonderful photographers pick a location. Our photographers, Kim and Tom, chose a beautiful historical mansion nearby where we had a whole range of different backdrops and I just let them work their magic!

I must admit, I took the lazy way out in terms of preparing for this shoot. I picked a dress that I had in my closet for many years, while PBear’s jacket was stolen from my dad’s closet. Any coordination was purely coincidental. I didn’t change out the accessories I usually wear, and I definitely didn’t wear makeup. I know it’ll be a big change from our look on the big day, but I’m so happy to have some pictures of us looking casual.

When we went out to our photo shoot on a “warm” 45 degree day a couple days after Christmas, we really didn’t have any idea what to expect or what to do. I think it really did give us a good idea of what to expect, come wedding day, and I’m so glad we got this opportunity! It took a while for us to loosen up, but those are the pictures that I like the best. I had been anxiously waiting to see the pictures. But boy were they worth the wait!

I am so thrilled with how the pictures turned out. I love how so many of the pictures really feel like us.

Okay, enough talking, more pictures. It was so hard to narrow down the pictures, but here are just a couple of my favorites. Many, many pictures of us trying not to look cold ahead:

I wish I could remember the joke that PBear had made. It was one of the dumbest jokes of all time, and yet I could not stop laughing.

It is insanely hard to walk on railroad tracks in heels.

I am apparently so short, that even in heels and standing on train tracks, I am barely PBear’s height.

I love this picture because it looks like PBear is trying to eat my brains. Om nom nom.

Obligatory ring shot.

Of course the big question now is which ones do I get printed? How do you narrow it down? How did your engagement shoot go?

P.S: Over a year after our engagement shoot (and 4 months + after wedding)… and I still haven’t printed out any engagement photos! (But I did use them for our save the dates… so that should count, right?)

Ooh, the black and white one looks very artsy and definitely print-worthy!

I reeeeally like the black and white one where he’s picking you up. Mr. Whale and I tried this move a few times, but we totally botched it :)

these came out so good!! I especially like the ones where he is lifting you up in a sweet embrace! I’m with bracelet… I haven’t printed any of our e-pics yet either!! We’ve gifted our family several framed images, but none of our are displayed yet. I think I will change that very soon!

I typically will order 1 or 2 4x6s of every print from photo albums (or in our case a small photo box to take on deployment), then I pick out my favorites to print specifically in 5×7 or 8×10 frames. Really think about printing all of them! It’s so cheap to do so anyway on snapfish and all of those

@Mrs. Bracelet: it was a lot of fun! I feel so vain admitting that…
@Mrs. Bracelet: @Mrs. Beanstalk: @Miss Lemur: if no one actually prints them out, what are we supposed to *do* with these pictures?
@clairebear000: @Mrs. Pony: @pinkwaterlily: I too am a big fan of the black and white one, but is it weird to use a picture of us smooching? I always feel so weird looking at other people’s kissing pictures…
@dancingriss: I’ll definitely look into snapfish!

The black and white one is amazing! Plus, it’s not in-your-face kissiness, so I don’t think it’d be weird to have up.

@Miss Panda: I used them in our invitations, printed them for our parents/grandparents (they loved them), and use them on Facebook/IG/Twitter/every social media site out there (that’s like a given). But really, we only paid $100 for the photo shoot, so even just using them only in the invitations and gifts for our family was enough for me to feel like I had gotten our money’s worth. I did print four and put them in a frame that will go in our apartment someday.
