Back before I got engaged I went to a wedding fair with a friend of mine. She got engaged in December 2011 and she’d arranged to come and visit me so we could go to a fair that was happening in my city in May 2012.
I’d never been to anything like this before and had great fun looking around all the stalls. I was possibly more enthusiastic than her that day, which is probably why when I saw cars I grabbed her and pulled her toward them.

There was a beautiful vintage Beauford that we sat in and pretended to be important. Then we had a look at the Rolls Royce and the eight-seater Daimler. They were all equally as stunning, and I remembered feeling really giddy when I sat in them.
Fast forward to October when I got engaged, and that Beauford was still stuck in my head. I couldn’t remember the name of the company that had the cars in May because I wasn’t looking for myself and didn’t take any details. What a mistake! So instead I Googled for vintage wedding cars and found one that was just beautiful. I particularly liked the look of a similar Rolls Royce—I think maybe the interior picture did it for me. So cool!

But it wasn’t available for my date. Bummer. The cost for that one was approximately £400, so that’s what I’d originally put in my budget spreadsheet. So now I was looking for a car around that price. Everywhere I looked, they were more expensive and I was beginning to look sad.
I went to another wedding fair, this time just me by myself, and I came across the same people as I had in May. I sat in the cars, got giddy, and asked for a bit more information and the availability of the Beauford. Booked up. Oh man! I was clearly not very happy. He could see how disappointed I was and then started talking about the other two cars I had been in. They were lovely, no doubt about it, but didn’t have the same “wow” factor as the Beauford so I hadn’t really considered them. But then he said something that I also hadn’t thought of, and something that opened me up to a brand new idea.
“What about getting them both? One as the wedding car, and the other for your bridesmaids? It’s £550 for the pair.”
Oh my god, my bridesmaids! How had I forgotten about them and how they’d get there?! This made perfect sense! Though £150 over my budget was so not ideal, £550 for two seemed like a good offer, especially as I’d been thinking about one for £400.
I gave him my details and told him I’d think about it. My budget was strict, and I told myself that if I went over on something, I’d have to be under on something else. I spoke to my mum about it, moved some things around, and found an extra £100. I also contacted a lot of other companies to find out what prices they’d offer for two similar cars, and no one came close.
I bit the bullet and called them. Five hundred pounds for the two and I’d pay a deposit there and then. Deal!
And these beauties are what I ended up with.

They look perfect together, and I’m happy that our wedding party will get to ride in the shiny cars as well as Jack, my dad, and me. Plus, with the Daimler being an eight-seater, we can easily get my family to the beach for photos after the ceremony!
I am a huge believer in “everything happens for a reason,” and if those first two cars had been available then I would never have gotten these two.
Did you go for a wedding car in the end? If so did you go the “classic” route? Or a bit more trendy in a limo? And did anyone else forget about their bridesmaids?!?
