Mrs. Unicycle's Picture
Mrs. Unicycle, Chicago, IL Age and Occupation: 23, Editor for a Web Publishing Company Fiance's Age and Occupation: 23, MD/PhD Student Engagement Date: March 26, 2011 Wedding Date: June 2012 Venue: Bridges of Poplar Creek About Me: I’m a writer by trade who likes analyzing pop culture, making fun of celebrities, and laughing until I cry. I’m the queen of half-assed crafts, and there’s nothing I won’t try to DIY. You can usually find me reading blogs on my laptop in front of a good Lifetime movie, wine in hand. I’m planning a polka-dotted summertime wedding to my physics geek college sweetheart, and when I’m not making stupid puns I’m freaking out about my wedding timeline.
About Mrs. Unicycle

I asked my dad to put together a slideshow of photos of me and Mr. Unicycle growing up for the guests to watch during dinner. Yes, I realized this was incredibly narcissistic of me. That is all.

I don’t actually have a copy of the slideshow right now—I think my dad has it—so I put together my own photo groupings for you using the photos my dad used in the slideshow. As I was going through them, I realized Mr. Unicycle and I had a lot of very similar photos. I suppose our childhoods were pretty similar. As Dr. Evil once wisely said, “We’re not so different, you and I.” Without further ado:

We both accomplished something at one point in our lives, in the very distant past.

The slideshow was a nice backdrop to the salad course, which was followed by dinner. We don’t have any pro pics of dinner because our photographers had to eat too, but here’s a guest photo:

Food never looks good when shot unprofessionally. I swear it was good.

Do you think wedding slideshows are cheesy and narcissistic? Or cute and nostalgic?

Totally adorable!

(Or maybe I just think so because I had the SAME high chair as you, the SAME soccer uniform as your husband, the SAME Disney shot as you, and our parents probably shopped at the same chain clothing stores. It’s either generational and therefore not creepy, or unique and extra creepy.)

I think the food looks good regardless! Or maybe I’m just a food-loving fatty mcfatfat, but whatever. Semantics. :)

I love the fact that you paired up your pics that were alike. Hilarious!

Bahaha I love the food picture at the end of the post.

You guys are too cute. Now I kinda want to do something like this, except set up the slideshow with similar pictures of us!

I think the key to a good slideshow is a) organization and b) length. Yours looked adorable with your his and hers pairings. I’m not sure if you posted all of it, but if you did, or pretty close, awesome job! For me, slideshows that veer into narcissism are the ones with 20 baby pics, 20 high school pics, then 20 pics from this year (half from the engagement session.) It’s fun to watch the couple grow up in photo form, but we know what you look like now! From the guest’s perspective, the length of a song or two is probably a good length for a slideshow.
PS: The food pic at the end of your post looks delish! Nom, nom, nom…
PSS: Your hair/veil combo looks fab!!

We totally had a slideshow too. It ran before the ceremony on the screens in the church, and they didn’t actually stop it until like five minutes into the ceremony lol.

Awesome post, love seeing pics of people as kids.

I really like slideshows, but there was no way to set up one for our wedding, not that i’d had time to put one together.

Thats something I never thought about before! Your pictures are adorable. Just makes me wonder how many spouses share similar childhood photos like this. Probably much more than we realize. And your food looks very yummy.

Absolutely adorable!! I would love to have a slideshow at our wedding but I’m not sure I have the patience to find, scan and put together all the pictures–how was your dad able to get all of Mr. Unicycle’s pics? Did his parents give them to him?

I personally don’t like slide shows. They make me feel like you’re at a funeral… that said, we DID have one, but my husband put it together and none of the pictures were from our childhood. They were all post 2008 (when we met) and our cat made an appearance. However, the best part was that my husband photoshopped some pictures to be shuffled in randomly that were of us in famous situations, or meeting famous people. For example, he was on the moon, I meet Oprah, he was on the Wheaties box .. etc. The people who noticed loved it (but most people didn’t even see it).

I just have to say that I usually think that wedding slideshows are totally cheesy but yours is PRECIOUS. Such a cute idea, I wish I did that!
