Buying the Dress

March 2nd, 2013 @ 1:28 pm by Miss Jackrabbit

When I went on my epic dress journey in November, I found the dress of my dreams at Blessings. But because I found it 10 months away from my wedding date, I was advised to go back and order it a few months later so it could be stored in the shop for the last couple of months before the wedding.

So when my parents came back down to visit we went straight there to buy it. I tried on a couple more dresses before putting Betsy back on, and it was clear that none of them came even close. As soon as I put on my dress I skipped out of the changing room and started twirling. If a dress makes you want to twirl, I’m guessing it’s the right dress for you.

My mum said I held myself better in it, and it was clear that it was the dress I felt most comfortable in. So with that, we bought it. But not before snapping up a veil.

I tried on a couple of veils and went with one that was fingertip length, with slightly scalloped edges, a hint of lace, and a couple of crystals here and there. The veil was my mum’s choice, because if I’m honest they all looked the same to me!

I’ve decided to not show any full pictures of me in my dress and save them for the recaps of the wedding day, but I won’t leave you hanging completely. A couple of tiny previews won’t hurt, will they?

Didn’t think so.

Is anyone else having their dress stored at the shop?

I love the sneak peaks! My dress arrived in January and will be stored there until the wedding in September. I was going to wait on ordered but they advised I shouldn’t in case it became non-orderable. Plus they store them for free so I figured it wouldn’t hurt :)

My dress is being stored at the shop. It came in in January and they’re storing it for November, which they said they had no problem doing…

I can’t wait to see you in the dress! That lace back is gorgeous. My dress is also being stored (for free) at the salon where I bought it. I bought a sample so it’s been there since last June!

My dress is safely stored at the shop I bought it at. The downside is they don’t do alterations so I have to go pick it up in a couple of weeks.

Ohh can’t wait to see the whole dress in all its beauty! I took my dress home once it was delivered to the dress shop, and it hung in my closet for months. I probably followed none of the dress storage protocol, but oh well ;)

I thought they’d store my dress at the alterations place and that I would have one more fitting before the wedding, but yesterday, for my 1st fitting, she said ‘the dress looks and fits perfect, you can take it home’
UM-this dress is HUGE! Takes up the whole trunk! (not really but still). I have no place to store it, and we have a month to go :/ ugh. oh well, I just moved some stuff into his closet so I had room in the guest closet for it, hopefully he doesn’t go rummaging through the guest closet. It’s zipped in a bag so that helps and he is totally not interested in seeing the dress, so I am safe, but that is super awesome that they are holding it for you!

“If a dress makes you want to twirl, I’m guessing it’s the right dress for you.” PREACH, girlfriend. You’re so right. And this dress is amazing – can’t wait to see all of it!
