Miss Panda's Picture
Miss Panda, Boston, MA Age and Occupation: 26, Graduate Student Fiance's Age and Occupation: 23, Graduate Student Engagement Date: June 27, 2011 Wedding Date: June 2013 About Me: I love window shopping, cute animals, crafting, baking, and most forms of procrastination. I tend to be overly meticulous with choices to a point of complete and total indecision. Mr. PBear and I met and live in the amazing city of Boston. We are big nerds who love trying new foods, playing video games, and cuddling with our adorable hamster. After 5 years together, we are planning an intimate, DIY-heavy, vintage garden themed, nonreligious wedding in the city where we fell in love.
About Miss Panda

It’s been an exciting couple of weeks here in the Panda house.

After spending the last, oh I don’t know, two to three months on the invitations, they are done, done, done and finally out, out, out the door!

Pbear and I packed up all 30 or so invitations and took them to the post office this afternoon. I didn’t realize the post office had such limited hours, and we almost missed it. Luckily there were very few people there when we ran in about an hour or so before closing!

We only had 30 invites and it drove me nuts. I cannot fathom how people with large weddings do it!

I thought they would give me some hassle for wanting it to be hand-canceled, but they motioned that they could do it in the back room and we were in and out in about five minutes. I don’t know if they’ll actually do it, but oh well, I tried.

I am a little bit worried about them getting to their destination in one piece, but I think I’ve done all I can.

I know that we’re sending out invitations out a little bit (or a lot) on the early side, or so says etiquette, but honestly, a good chunk of our guest list has already asked us where the invitations are. Especially given that the majority of our guests are from out of state and they are going to need more time to plan. I didn’t want to send them out too early, though, and have them get lost or forgotten about, so I decided to wait until March as a compromise.

Now that they’re out, I just hope our family and friends love them as much as I do.

And though I’d like to wait a week or so to let our guests see the invitations in person first, I don’t want to leave you guys empty handed. Thus, a little teaser for you.

This picture does the envelope no justice. I wish you could see the gorgeous and shiny peachiness like it is in real life.

I feel like sending out the invitations is an indicator that we are getting crazy-close to the big day. So much to do and yet so little time to do everything.

Were you absolutely thrilled/scared/relieved to send your invitations out as well? Did you start the final countdown afterward?

What a tease! I can’t wait to see what they look at. I’m so jealous that you only had 30 invitations to send out. We have 100 going out this week and more than half our going overseas..it’s just a lot of pressure to get them just right!

30?!?!?!!? lucky you!!! Like Shortbread (suddenly I have an insatiable taste for shortbreak 0_o ) , I too had a large amount to mail…way more than 100. Put it like this, though some of the invitations went to families, we invited over 300 people…so you can imagine how much we spent on postage between Canada, the US and the Caribbean.

It was such a relief to mail the LAST one off though.

We’re going to do it all over again when it’s time to mail out the thank you’s but that part, I’m looking forward to even more than the invitations :)

Haha, after we handed our firat invite, I looked at Mr. Toadstool and told him “now there is no way back”, that soon became a joke surrounding everything wedding related, but invites make it feel real.
