Linked with Love: The Triple Rehearsal

We scheduled our wedding events quite traditionally—Saturday afternoon wedding with a Friday rehearsal/ rehearsal dinner. The rehearsal was set for 4:00 PM with our welcome BBQ starting at 6:00 PM.

And I’m glad that I planned for lots of extra time. Several people involved in the rehearsal ran late. After waiting a bit we decided to go ahead anyway. So when Best Man N & Bridesmaid E showed up, we rehearsed again. And when our youngest participants made it (due to a time mix-up), we rehearsed a third time. No chance of forgetting the important parts now!

We rehearsed in our exact ceremony spot, though it would be hard to tell. Nothing more than some lawn, leaves, and nice afternoon sunlight. The chairs and other decorations for our ceremony went up the morning of the wedding.

And as the rehearsal itself took much longer than anticipated, we segued right into the pre-dinner socializing in the Great Room at the Lodge. It was great to see everybody getting to know each other—including my bridesmaids, as they didn’t have a chance to meet beforehand with everybody living so far apart.

In case you’re interested in the dress I wore: It’s a nice dark blue cotton eyelet summer dress that I picked up at Anthropologie a month or so before the wedding. I made it a point to look for a cotton dress that I could wear again. It has a classic silhouette and the eyelet fabric charmed me.

My parents-in-law hosted the dinner, but let us plan the dinner details. We decided to serve bison burgers (and a vegetarian alternative) as a nod to the local (Western) culture. Side dishes included potato salad and coleslaw, beverages were iced tea and lemonade, and we had brownies for desert.

What are you planning for your rehearsal and/or rehearsal dinner?
