10 Wedding Photos I Needed

Even though my recaps are dunzo, and I’ve probably overstayed my welcome here, I do have a few posts left to share with you guys. By far, my most popular post according to Pinterest is the 10 Wedding Photos I Need post. It caused a bit of controversy in the comments, but my photographer seemed very grateful for the guidance. I wanted to show you how the vision compared to the reality:

1) The groom’s reaction as the bride walks down the aisle:

Verdict: There were so many pictures of Mr. Unicycle waiting for me to come down the aisle, so I could tell my photographer made it a priority. It would have been nice if he’d teared up a little when he saw how devastatingly beautiful I looked, but you can’t have everything. He told me he almost cried but then when he saw me crying he just thought it was cute and smiled instead.

2) The “dad first look” and “bridesmaids first look”:

Verdict: I love how they turned out! Again, it would have been better if my dad had been aware that I expected him to cry about how beautiful and grown up I was, but I didn’t communicate that to him.

3) A group shot of all the guests:

Reality/Verdict: You all convinced me in the comments that this would be a logistical nightmare, and there’s nothing I fear more than logistics, so we nixed it.

4) Sassy drinking picture:

Verdict: Again, my photographer delivered, but my bridesmaids were just a little too drunk. I still love this picture though! And I love how none of us are actually drinking those drinks. We just grabbed people’s abandoned drinks and put fresh straws in them. Nast.

5) A picture of us holding a “thank you” banner:

Verdict: We used this photo for our thank you notes, and I think it’s a success! It may actually be better than the inspiration, because the sign is easier to read. I only used purple paper for it because that’s all I had, but it ended up working out. I also love that we took the photo in our photobooth, because our backdrop rocked.

6) A photo of the sparkler send-off:

Verdict:..fail. That’s okay though, because I was high on life, and my guests were high on alcohol, so everyone enjoyed themselves at least. Note to future brides: If your venue has a round driveway instead of a straight path to exit, make sure your guests pick a side!

7) A backseat kissing shot:

Verdict: #Winning

8) The bridesmaids in sunglasses:

Verdict: Success! These are some of my favorite photos of the day. I was so close to not buying the sunglasses because I put it off until the last minute and was having trouble finding sunglasses I liked, but now I am so glad I bought these. We look so funky fresh I can’t even stand it.

9) Informal bridesmaid pictures:

Verdict: I love these too, and we didn’t even have to lie down in the dirt. I love how we look like the kind of friends who just randomly decide to lounge in a row like this.

10) A candid pic of the Unicycles PDAing:

Verdict: I may not be copping a butt-grab, but I love this photo anyway.

In short, my photographer really nailed it and I’m glad I gave her a list of must-haves, because these are some of my favorites. Like I said before, “I make my own luck.”

What are/were your must-have photos?

All your photos turned out SO well! Thank you for sharing this because I think we all (especially me) have an image of what we THINK it will look like versus what it will ACTUALLY look like. Thanks!

Looove seeing the inspiration and then your own twist on it between you and the photographer. This is why I think it’s paramount to try a bunch of different things because you never know what will truly translate smashingly in a photograph. The yellow and pink = amazing!!
