The One with the Gifts for the Gals

With only three and a half short months before I become Mrs. Camera, my to-do checklist is dwindling down in the loveliest way. Unfortunately, an open box remains next to “Bridal Party Gifts.” Seeing this makes the panic set in, for the millionth time.

As a reminder, we have eight bridesmaids and eight groomsmen. That’s sixteen members of the wedding party to gift…not including something for the flower girl and ring bearer, but they’re three and a half and two and a half, and not picky.

I’ve seen every common bridesmaid gift out there—personalized stationary, shot glasses, robes, travel coffee mugs, you name it. I just can’t seem to nail down an idea that I like, that would fit everyone, and that’s within our preset $20 limit per person. Below are some of the options I have put on the “possible ideas” list for my bridesmaids, though none are particularly jumping out at me.

1. Jewelry Roll: When my brother married his wife a few years ago, I was a bridesmaid and received a roll similar to this. I use it whenever I travel, and have found it quite useful. Mine is not personalized, but a lot of websites have options to do so.

2. Tote Bags: I love tote bags, especially these from Land’s End or L.L. Bean. Unfortunately, the ones I find to be more useful are the larger ones, which tend to run over $30, out of our budget. I also am not sure if anyone else would actually enjoy them as much as I do.

3. Cosmetic Bags: What girl doesn’t need somewhere to stash her make-up? I like these with the waffle weave, but again, I can’t decide who would like or not like their name or initials to be on their bag.

These gifts are all nice, and I’m sure they would be grateful to receive anything I choose to gift them with, but none of them make me think of “them.” I really want the gifts to be useful, thoughtful and meaningful at the same time. As a result, I have begun thinking of getting them individual gifts that all amount to about $20 each.

What did you get your bridesmaids? Any other ideas for me? Anyone get their girls different gifts?

I got them personnalized picture frames that have “bridesmaid” written on it and then both of our names and the date. I’m going to put a picture of us together in each of the frames until I get the pro pics back from the wedding. I’m going to take a picture with each of my bridesmaids. I got them a little tote bag each to put those in. In all, it came out to about 25$ for the frames. :)

I got Pretty Plum Sugar robes, (faux) pearl earrings, a bangle that matches our colors to wear for the wedding, some also matching flops, and the sailor’s knot kate spade ring. Sounds like kind of a lot, but everyone has to fly in and stay multiple nights at a pretty expensive hotel.

I only have two maids (actually matrons, but whatever) so I don’t have to worry so much about the budget. I’m planning to gift them with a nice piece of jewelry (gold/diamond) individual to them.

I like those cosmetic bags! Maybe those and inexpensive earrings? Mine are all traveling and staying multiple nights in a hotel… I’m thinking floral getting-ready robes (like Pretty Plum Sugar but maybe a different Etsy seller), and then some other things… which I am unsure of. Jewelry, totes/cosmetic bags, and individualized stuff are all under consideration.

Love the jewelry rolls! I was thinking about getting my BMs jewelry, but that was before I seriously thought about how much that was going to cost. And that they might want to wear their own jewelry :)

I ordered Coach wristlets when they were having a 25% off special and then paid for half of their updo for the day of.

Same! Thank you for posting about gifts in this price range. I’ve seen so many awesome gifts on the Bee that are at least $100 each and I just can’t afford that (though I wish I could).

I ended up doing a bunch of little gifts adding up to a preset amount. A sale on Wedding Chicks got me personalized totes (not as nice as the ones you posted, but they are still cool!). I filled the totes with my bridesmaid’s shoes (sale at Payless), a rad nail polish, notecards with their last initial on them, some anti-bacs from Bath and Body works, and some other little trinkets. Michaels actually turned out to have some pretty nifty items near the check outs on clearance. Good luck in your gifting adventure!

I got my girls VS sleep shirts, pearl dangle earings (that they wore for the wedding), and express wristlets that they could use the day of. Total was about $40 each?

I just want to add my two cents as someone who’s been a bridesmaid many times. I would love to receive the jewelry roll as a gift. If you’re worried about it not being personal enough, add a note to each one. Then the groomsmen can each receive hanging travel kits and you have a whole travel theme going! Check out these kits from Eddie Bauer.

I got my girls jewelry to wear in the wedding along with personalized etched vases they can put their bouquets in and also use at home for future flowers. Found them on Etsy… I really like the picture frame idea too! Good luck in your search!

Looove those jewelry rolls – I would be happy to get one of those, since traveling with jewelry is always a challenge. I picked out pairs of Kate Spade earrings for my BMs (they all have SUCH different taste, I gave up on picking something matching for all the girls!) and they loved them.

I got my girls wristlets at the Coach outlet for about $45 each. I also got them mugs with the first letter of their name from Anthropologie (personal and only $8!) and gifted them with the pearl necklaces and earrings to wear at our wedding. I found well priced jewelry at Fracesca’s for under $20! Good luck! The best gift for the girls will be getting to share in your joy to day of your wedding!

I really like the tote bag idea! Who doesn’t need a bag? I have also seen all the bridesmaids get matching bracelets.

I ended up getting my girls a tote bag that I put their earrings for the wedding, a mason jar bridesmaid wine glass, and a personalized compact inside. To make it special i got each of them a different color/pattern tote to represent their personalities.

I really like the jewelry roll idea and maybe you can get their jewelry to wear at the wedding to put inside? OR if these don’t feel like them, why not get then each a unique gift?

I second the Anthropologie initial mug idea. The look so much more than the $8 and are very cute. I have them, my niece has one, my mom, and I even got them for the hostess gifts for my shower. I put a pretty soap with them and wrote a nice thank you note and they loved them.

I like the jewelry roll! I already have a ton of tote bags and cosmetic bags. Something practical but pretty is always nice. Could you get them a pair of earrings (maybe from Etsy so it’s cheaper?) that you could go ahead and stuff in the roll??

I’m doing cosmetic bags for the girls and shaving kits for the guys. I wanted something that would coordinate well. I’m going to put a little note in each one and a few little goodies. Those are just for the BMs and GMs though. MOH and BestMan are going to get something different.

I have got my girls a getting ready robe for £10 at the supermarket, I glittered some wine glasses and personalised a plain canvas tote. All came to about £20 per girl including supplies. I’ll be getting my cheif bridesmaid something extra, not sure what yet though…
I like the jewellery roll idea and you could add a piece of jewellery that was more to their individual style. I’m sure whatever you decide on will be very much appreciated! x

I adore those jewelry rolls! I may have to steal that idea for my own girls! :D

I think individual gifts may solve your debate. I only have three girls and am getting their jewelry along with totes, flip flops and shirts for the day of.

I really like the jewelry roll. It’s something I could see myself using, but wouldn’t think to get for myself!

I like the jewelry roll too. If not, what about books for each inscribed by you?

I’ve been experiencing a similar dilemma, but I finally decided on selecting each girl a set of champagne glasses which fits each girl’s personality (nothing monogrammed or personalized, but something they could keep in a cabinet and use on a regular basis). I then purchased personalized wine charms to add a little something with their name. I think this all comes in at about $20 each. I’m going to add a small bottle of champagne also which will adda little to the cost, but not much.

THE JEWELRY ROLLS. Seriously, I have been looking everywhere for one since I started accessorizing more, and I would absolutely LOVE to be gifted one! Even if they didn’t use it for jewelry, it would still come in handy while traveling!

I DIY’ed my bridesmaid’s gifts! I personalized hangers for them (wooden hangers with their initials in little tiny rhinestones) and I found a super easy tutorial for clutches. I made one for each of them and one for me! Each of their’s is different since I just got Fat Quarters and that was more than enough for each of them. Then I filled the clutches with bridesmaid survival kits – emery boards, a mirror, bobby pins, gum, ibuprofen, floss, tissues, etc. I’m so excited to give them their gifts!

I think personal gifts are the best! Perhaps you can get them each something different (and perhaps along the lines of an inside joke) for their gifts?
