Wolves’ Winter Wedding: First Look and Couple Portraits

I wasn’t nervous at all before our first look. I was just excited to see Wolfman. It sounds counter-intuitive, but wedding planning actually separated us physically more than I bargained for. I was always going home to do some DIY with my mom or to my MOH’s for some wedding-related task”¦Wolfman and I hadn’t hung out in a while. Seeing him—alone—was fun.

We originally were going to do our first look at the bottom of the stairs inside the house, but our photographer suggested doing it outside for lighting reasons. Wasn’t a big deal to me, and gave my maids the ability to watch from the windows.

My sister opened the door for me and I saw Wolfman waiting—all I could think about was that I’d never navigated stairs in 1) my dress and 2) those heels. I really didn’t want to fall but also was super conscious that my photo was being taken.

I had warned Wolfman that the face he made when he saw me was basically the whole point of the first-look genre. He would always tease me that he was going to make some ridiculous gremlin face”¦and I was actually kind of nervous he would, just for laughs.

No gremlin face. Phew. Not going to lie, the whole thing felt a little silly—we see each other all the time! But it really made me feel like everything was really finally happening.

Together! Of course I got a shrug for myself.

After the first look, I wanted to take some pictures in the hotel. I sort of splurged and reserved a really nice suite—it was kind of a surprise for Wolfman, but also served as a place to keep our dog during the wedding.

Walking to the hotel

We opted against having her at the venue, but we did get some cute photos with her.

She really puts the “French” in French bulldog, if you know what I’m saying.

There was an amazing balcony overlooking the city, and our photographer took some photos from out there.

At some point in the hotel, Tonks peed on the carpet—I think she was really excited to see Wolfman after a night away. Wolfman thought it was hilarious that he was cleaning up our dog’s pee in a tuxedo—I told him that could be a metaphor for marriage. Romance with a dose of reality.

I was squishing his leg so much here. He’s being a champ not showing it.

Tonks also stepped on my dress so that it ripped a little at the top of the skirt. (I’m not positive it was her, but she’s easy to blame.) I got a little panicky about it, as you can imagine, so we opted to go back to the venue so my mom could do some quick stitch work, and planned to do the rest of our couple portraits a little later.

Up next—group shots!

The damage to the floor and your dress were totally worth it to have pictures with your adorable dog!

Ahhh, I’m so glad you got some pics with Tonks! I hope we can manage to do that with our Frenchie, Josie, as well. I’d be afraid she’d rip my dress, because she’s a little crazy, but I agree with Mrs. Pony, it’d totally be worth it! :)

I just can’t get over your dress. So, so pretty. Wolfman looks like he had the perfect reaction to seeing you for the first time! And of course, love the puppy pics. :)

Yay Tonks! Well, except for the few accidents… but that’s to be expected. Excitable Frenchies are otherwise a good thing :)

Squishing the Mr? Whaaat… you’re not heavy enough to do that. Women are featherweight, right? 😉

Can I ask you where you found a perfect shrug like that? I have looked high and low for something with a bit of “fur” but nothing over the top, and haven’t found anything even sort of cool- but I love yours!!!
