Let’s Get Hygenic

Like many a bride who has come before me, I’ve added “bathroom courtesy basket” to my ever-growing list of crap to accomplish before tying the knot.

While it may seem a like a frivolous detail, having been to weddings both with and without the BCB, I find it to be very useful and a nice gesture by the bride and groom, without being very time consuming or expensive.

I found a few grey woven baskets at my local Marshall’s (aka, my own personal heaven) and filled it with goodies from the travel section of my local Wal*Mart (aka, my own personal hell).

In case you’re wondering what’s inside each, here’s the breakdown:

In the Men’s BCB:

  • Baby Wipes
  • Tissues
  • Febreeze
  • Lint Roller
  • Anti-Bacterial Hand Gel
  • Q-Tips
  • Mouthwash
  • Mints
  • Visine
  • Wisps Mini Toothbrush/Paste
  • Floss/Toothpick Combos (um, LOVE these)
  • Axe Body Spray
  • First Aid Kit
  • Gold Bond Powder
  • Tums
  • Advil
  • Shout Wipes

In the Women’s BCB:

  • Baby Wipes
  • Tissues
  • Febreeze
  • Lint Roller
  • Anti-Bacterial Hand Gel
  • Q-Tips
  • Mouthwash
  • Mints
  • Visine
  • Wisps Mini Toothbrush/Paste
  • Floss/Toothpick Combos (um, LOVE these)
  • Hairspray
  • First Aid Kit
  • Tampons/Panty Liners
  • Tums
  • Advil
  • Shout Wipes
  • Hair Elastics
  • Bobby Pins
  • Makeup Wipes

Also, those comically large clothespins will hold a sign for each with a witty little saying about only taking what you need and not being a BCB hog.

Are you working on BCBs? What’s in yours?!

I have these on my list too. I have certainly used these at previous weddings and found them a really nice gesture. I plan on being as frugal as possible on these as well but I defintely want to have them.

(the only thing you don’t have, that I was planning is aersol deoderant for the ladies basket – I know I, and several friends, have used it at other weddings to make ourselves feel a little fresher on a hot night!)

This is a nice touch–kudos to you for DIY’ing something like this for your guests :)

I have never been to a wedding that had these but I certainly plan on making them. They could’ve come in handy for me at some of the weddings. Thank you for the list. :)

This is such a great list! Copying it down right now, thank you for sharing it!

    I will also add
    – aerosol deoderant
    – body sprays
    – makeup remover (for when mascara runs)
    – glasses repair kits? Maybe?

also, if you have a younger guest set and a sense of humor / penchant for safety, maybe condoms? haha! I don’t think I’ll do that but you never know… sometimes they’re necessary….

Also, I would LOVE to see your funny note! I will also work on one and share it. I love making “Dr.Seuss” type rhymes to remind people to have manners. I work as a therapist and make a lot of these….

I agree with the aerosol deodorant! Also something that a lot of people used from my basket, and that I always use when I see that people have them, were those oil absorbing face wipes.

While I’ve heard of BCBs, I never even considered making separate baskets for men and women, ha ha! These look great! :)

Great idea! Maybe you can add something on the note that some things are NOT for taking, just using (ex. Hairspray). At the end of the night, mine were cleaned out and some of those things were personally mine. I was unimpressed.

Love it! I love bathroom baskets.

I would also add a sewing kit (if you stay in a hotel between now and then, you could grab the one from the room and put it in there – that’s what I did for my emergency kit for a friend’s wedding).

A wedding I attended had condoms in the bathroom basket, with a little sticker with the bride & groom’s names on them and the wedding date, which I thought were hilarious, but I couldn’t do for our wedding because it would be more offensive to our crowd than humorous/useful!

@HourThyme: LOL, we did have the condom debate – but we are having a few kids there, no balloon animals! 😉

    @lovelyduckie: Yay!! 😀 Nice choice!

@Blonde17Jess: Great call on the sewing kit! I plan on adding a few last-minute things too – safety pins and the like!
