Back in May I mentioned I was having some difficulty coming up with what to get my bridesmaids as thank you gifts for playing such important roles in my big day. I finally decided that, as a veteran bridesmaid, I would want not only something fun, but something useful. With that in mind, I knew what I wanted to get them was…a bunch of things in a bag!
I found a tutorial online on how to make these cute canvas bags here and used it to write each bridesmaid’s initial in either navy or yellow, with a gray doily pattern.

Then, I tied a ribbon in their favorite color around the handles of their bag. BM FUN. got a rainbow ribbon because, well, rainbow is her favorite color. She will be having a “rainbow” colored wedding in October—I’ll be sure to share with you all.

After weeks of searching and brainstorming, I decided what I wanted to fill the bags with—a bunch of random stuff.
First off, there are a few snack items including a granola bar, some Lindor chocolate truffles, and Oreos to munch on so no one’s blood sugar drops.
Next, the blue tissue paper triangle at the top. When unwrapped, they will see…
…personalized name hangers! I really wanted to buy these professionally made, but at $20 each minimum, I couldn’t stomach the cost. I did buy one for myself, but the more I thought about it, the more I wanted the girls to share in the hanger fun! There are lots of tutorials on how to do this online, but I basically just went for it one night, using pliers and various items around the house to shape the letters. Then I glued a navy flower to the top with a little pearl for embellishment. I think they’ll look really cute in a row holding up their dresses!
Third, the small Chinese take-out box contains the jewelry I bought for them, and sneakily disguised so they’d never know it was from Forever 21.
Fourth, the most obvious—the WINE! I sneakily sent out a survey to all my bridesmaids asking their favorite things, and purposely asked 25 questions so they wouldn’t be tipped off. Two of them were “What is your favorite kind of wine?” and “What is your favorite color?” Using that information, I bought them each a bottle of their favorite wine and a cute little Neoprene sleeve with handles to tote the bottle around!
I found the totes on Etsy, of course, in a shop called It’s Personal2, and spent about two hours searching through the colors and patterns to find just the right look for each bridesmaid.
And last but not least, that little pink case contains the results of a scavenger hunt in the Target travel section:
The bags were each 97 cents, and were stuffed to the brim with wedding-day essentials including tissues, Band-Aids, hair elastics, bobby pins, sunscreen, a nail file, a Wisp toothbrush, hand sanitizer and lotion from Bath & Body Works, and gum. I also found individual packets of Advil on Amazon, and will be adding those when they arrive later this week!
To top it all off, I found these adorable cards on, you guessed it, Etsy a few months back, and hand wrote heartfelt thank yous to all of my amazing friends. If you’re interested, the shop is called Marrygrams.
So there you have it—a little fun, a little practical, a lot of love for my ladies!
