Mr. Wellies and I found our photographers and videographers on the first try. With our venue, second time was the charm. Although we both loved Holly Hedge Estate, I wasn’t comfortable booking it without looking at at least one more venue, for comparison’s sake. I spent hours searching “barn wedding venues in Pennsylvania” online, trying to find an alternative. It was surprisingly difficult to find a location that fit our criteria; the barns were either too big, too ornate, or too far away. I had almost given up when I came across Rosaleda Farm, nestled on 20 acres of land in Pottstown. As soon as I saw the chandelier hanging in the barn, I was hooked. I quickly called Rose, the co-owner of the farm, and scheduled an appointment. I was so anxious to see it, I went the next day while Mr. Wellies was at work (with his blessing, of course, and the promise to take lots of pictures).

When Rose took me into the barn, I was so excited I could barely keep my hands steady to send photos to Mr. Wellies. The barn was reconstructed five years ago by professional Amish barn builders (gotta love Pennsylvania)! It’s the Goldilocks of barns: not too big, not too small, but just right. As Rose was talking, I was already deciding where our reception table would go, and imagining our first dance under the chandelier. That chandelier. Rose said she traveled all the way to New York to find the right one. It’s definitely my favorite feature of the barn.
Walking under the chandelier, we climbed a staircase up to the loft. Tables and chairs were stacked in the corner because they were still cleaning up after a party they had hosted earlier in the week. The farm has become such a popular event site, they’re booked solid every Sunday for the rest of 2013!
Once I saw the loft, I knew we were going to have our ceremony there. The framing reminded me of a chuppah, while the stone wall was the exact backdrop I was looking for. Everything was coming together perfectly in my mind.
When I sat down with Rose to go over the details of our wedding, she further solidified that this was where Mr. Wellies and I were going to get married. She explained that the barn is fully heated, so we wouldn’t need to worry about the cold weather seeping in. Furthermore, she was willing to negotiate the price with us, considering we were going to have such a small group of people. Before I left, I asked to see the barn one more time. It was almost painful to drive away. Once I got in the car, I called Mr. Wellies and told him I wanted to have our wedding at Rosaleda Farm.
