Linked with Love: Time to Party

We had dancing throughout our reception. We started by inviting everyone onto dance floor after our official dances and continued to play a few songs between the courses of our dinner. After cutting the cake, we went straight to music for the rest of the night.

We gave our DJ Marek pretty much free rein on choosing the music for the night—after all, that’s what he does for a living! We did give him a list of songs we really liked in advance, including a few as must-play favorites. In addition, we requested that he play more old-school rock ‘n’ roll at the beginning of the evening for the “older crowd.”

Highlights of our playlist included:

Old School:

  • Chubby Checker, “The Twist”
  • Jive Bunney, (anything)
  • Bill Haley & the Comets, “Rock Around the Clock”
  • The Marcels, “Blue Moon”

  • Billy Joel, “The Longest Time”
  • Blues Brothers, “Everybody Needs Somebody to Love”
  • Train, “Drops of Jupiter”
  • Wham, “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” (a childhood favorite of my cousins)

Rock & R&B:

  • Beyonce, “Crazy in Love”
  • Fergie, “Fergalicious” (Ah…the good times in Japan with BM P)
  • Kings of Leon, “Closer”
  • Rihanna, “Pon de Replay” (Ah…high school)
  • Muse, “Supermassive Black Hole”

  • Anya Marina, “Satellite Heart”
  • David Cook, “Light On”
  • Fun., “We Are Young”
  • Lady Antebellum, “When You Got a Good Thing”
  • LMFAO, “Party Rock Anthem”
  • Phoenix, “1901″

BM K & boyfriend J

I really enjoyed being able to dance with all my good friends at our wedding. It was amazing to have a party (in our honor) where I got to have all my favorite music played. It was an awesome experience and I can’t wait to have a celebration like that again sometime!

Our photographers, Amy and Kate, also managed to shoot some interesting dance moves:

I’m quite sure my brother and I are dancing to Aladdin’s “A Whole New World” (his favorite Disney movie from our childhood).

What’s your favorite song on your playlist? Was partying with your best friends nostalgic?
