This post is a little out of order, but I figured I’d end the recaps with one of the better decisions we made: donuts.
If you recall, I made the decision early to get donuts instead of a wedding cake. It was cheap & delicious, and the proximity of the Krispy Kreme was too convenient to pass up. I think this is sort of trendy now, but for very good reason.
I borrowed some cool platters from my ‘maids (they’re vintage plates attached to upside down vintage goblets) and my coordinator got them all out. I ordered 12 dozen—mostly glazed, but because we were so close to Valentine’s Day they had some appropriate heart-shaped ones.
These were a HUGE hit. Plus”¦they were less than $70. Compare that to your typical cake prices—SO worth it. I thought not having cake meant that we wouldn’t have that feed-each-other moment, but our photographer called us over to do it. We hadn’t talked about it at all, but luckily Wolfman knew not to smash any glazed donut on my face”¦
They were so good.
Fast forward through to party time”¦I was having SO much fun. So was everyone else. There was a moment around a quarter to 11 (so, 15 minutes before we had to leave) where everyone”¦including both our grandmothers”¦was dancing hard to Jay Z’s “Big Pimpin’” (unedited, I might add), and I was both SO happy but also cognizant that it was almost over. Wolfman must have felt the same thing because he found me on the dance floor for the last two songs (tracks seven and eight), “We Found Love” and “Daisy.”
Because even though I love all my pro pics, something about that last late-night blurry photo best captured everything about our wedding.
