Three hundred sixty-five days ago, I put on a white dress and married my best friend. I can’t believe it’s been a year already. Happy anniversary, love.
Conventional wisdom says that the first year of marriage is the hardest. Between moving in together for the first time and my lengthy unemployment, we certainly faced our fair share of challenges. We had dark days, but after a year, I finally feel settled. In August, I finally landed a job working at a family law firm downtown. We redecorated our apartment in the winter, and now it truly feels like home. We’ve survived one cycle of shared holidays and our first vacations as a married couple. There’s no exam I have to study for, no wedding errands to run, no job applications to fill out. Things are normal and easy-going. Life is about cooking new things, going to football games, discovering new TV shows, daydreaming about our next vacation, and enjoying one another’s company. It’s about the everyday adventures and the journey of life. How wonderful that I have the perfect co-pilot for that journey.
