Sometimes in wedding planning you are lucky enough to have a person who steps up to the plate every time they can to help. Oftentimes, that person is your wedding planner; after all, that’s what you’re paying them to do! We don’t have a wedding planner, but we don’t need one because I am lucky enough to have a MOH M.
M and I have been friends a long time. I was her maid of honor when we were in our first year of teaching, and it was an incredible honor. When Mr. Orchard proposed I knew immediately M would be my matron of honor. She is one of my very best friends and as we grow older together I love her more and more. Whenever I need to express any strong emotion, be it in sadness or happiness, M is the first person I call.
M always has my best interests at heart and she will voice any concern, no matter what. When Mr. O and I first started seriously dating she was the one person who kept her distance, watching carefully to ensure that this man was the right person for me. When Orchard won her over, I knew I’d found a keeper.
When it came time to host my bridal shower, M put together the most beautiful shower I could imagine. She put thought into every detail and spent countless hours bringing all her ideas to life. All while juggling moving into a new house, a toddler, and a husband! She’s pretty amazing.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago and the giant push to FINALLY get invitations in the mail! M and I spent many late nights cutting, punching, stuffing, writing, labeling, and sealing those babies up, and never once did she complain or seem annoyed. Even when I was ready to throw our printers out the window, she just calmly resolved the problem and got me back on track (champagne helps!). Sunday night after hours of gluing and Cricut’ing, she sent me home to get sleep for school and stayed up finishing my work. It’s really hard for me to delegate tasks and M knows that because she knows me, so she simply asked if she could do these things for me, like I was doing her some kind of favor. Monday night, when we finally put everything together (after hours of fighting with the above mentioned printers!) she sent me home again and spent her Tuesday morning putting the final return labels on and going to the post office (my least favorite place ever!) to get them weighed, stamped, and mailed.
That’s right, I didn’t even have to mail my invites—M did it for me.
Because she is the best matron of honor…in the entire WORLD. She is also an angel. I swear.
When she sent me the picture of them ready to go out (because I begged her to take photos for the blog!) I honestly teared up. One, because they were finally done; and two, because I could not be more thankful for all her help.
Can everyone give this woman a round of virtual applause? She more than deserves it.
