After our rehearsal, we went as a group to our rehearsal dinner location, Evoo.
We had originally wanted a rehearsal location that was within walking distance of our venue. However we weren’t really thrilled with any of the options. Thus, we opted to take everyone across the river to the place we had gone to for our engagement dinner. It’s a place really special to us and the food is always really good and reasonably priced.
Because we were time to spare, we took a casual walk through the Gardens. Somehow or another, the walk involved sitting on the Make Way for Ducklings statue. I always feel like a total dork on the statue, but I love doing it anyways.
After we got to Evoo, we were escorted to our own room with a big gigantic table. I loved being at the head of the table and being able to see everyone that was there.
caprese salad on a spoon, sausage on baked beans, liver pate + pickles on toast
This was followed by a three course dinner which was equally as tasty.
Asparagus soup, Haddock w/ fried bacon on top, chocolate cake w/ marshmallow fluff.
We opted to do the speeches during the rehearsal dinner instead of at the wedding itself. This was to make the wedding a little less formal as well as to make our friends a bit more comfortable with a smaller speech crowd. PBear’s best man gave an adorable speech about how both he and PBear were oblivious to the beginning of our relationship and had no idea what was going on.
My MOH gave a really nice speech centered around the proper etiquette of a marriage from a very old etiquette book. She also touched on how though there have been a lot of ups and downs in the last few years, she had never seen me as happy as I was with PBear (aww). It was absolutely hilarious and sweet.
After speeches, PBear gave a quick speech about how much we loved everyone and then gave out gifts.
I was meaning to talk about gifts earlier, but I didn’t want to ruin the surprise. Instead of one big gift, we chose to put together a series of little gifts for each person.
The guys each got a few little toys, magnets as well as a flashlight screwdriver set.The girls each got an individually chosen necklace and a series of little things for them. For example, to my sister, the perpetual gamer techie, I got her a Google play gift card since we’re both obsessed with our phones. To my MOH, who taught me how to bake , I got her a really cute Anthropologie oven mitt and pot holder.
For our parents, we got them each individually a gift. For our mothers, I got them a heart necklace and and and piece of jewelry. For PBear’s dad, we got him a book on rock and roll and for my dad, a gift certificate to Home Depot since my parents just bought a new house!
We also got them a frame with one of our engagement pictures and a promise that we will put together an album for them. That is my next project after I finally finish the rest of these recaps.
I think the gifts were well received and I’m happy that we put in the effort to thank everyone because we absolutely couldn’t have done it all without their help. And with that, we ended the night to get some much needed shuteye for the next day. What did you do for your rehearsal dinner? When did you do your speeches and gifts?
