Picture Perfect: We Process

Happy New Year, Weddingbees!

So where were we? Ah, yes. About to start the ceremony! As a reminder, our wedding took place at an actual house. The entire wedding party processed out the back of the bottom floor of the house, but I chose to make my entrance down the two flights of outdoor steps from the kitchen on the second story of the house. The plan was for me to walk down the steps by myself, and for Papa Camera to be waiting on the ground. (Apparently it’s difficult to walk down steep steps with another person.)

Talk about pressure. So the bridesmaids, groomsmen, parents, flower girl, ring bearer, and Cam were hanging out downstairs laughing and having a great time, and I was upstairs in the kitchen—going crazy. After a few minutes MOH JJ arrived to keep me calm, and I cherished her company. It kept me sane.

It did turn out to be an excellent view of the entire ceremony, though!

Remember that pergola/arch Cam had GM Art make for us? Well, it was decorated with flowers and linens and it was simply gorgeous:

I love him so much. Anyway, see how the ceremony went!

All the music at our ceremony was by Vitamin String Quartet, and if you are so inclined, feel free to listen along.

1. Vitamin String Quartet cover of 311′s “Amber”

First up were the parents.

Both of our brothers returned to the house to process, but first it was Cam’s turn with our minister.

So handsome, that husband of mine!

Once Cam was in place, the groomsmen started down the aisle, led by Best Man J with GM App close behind. I’ll spare you eight pictures of guys walking.

Man love. It’s real y’all.

2. Vitamin String Quartet cover of Ben Folds’s “The Luckiest”
*I can’t find a YouTube video of this, but listen to it on Amazon. It’s gorg.

One by one, my best gals made their debut.

And last but certainly not least, Flower Girl M and Ring Bearer S. If you recall, I had some trouble deciding if we should have them in the wedding or not as they are three and two respectively. Ultimately, the answer was “of course!” They’re our niece and nephew and we had to include them. I was pleasantly surprised by how well they did during the rehearsal—they both smiled and walked right up to the altar. Logical thinking, of course, gave me a false sense of security that it would be just as smooth on the day of—right? FALSE. SO FALSE.

Let’s see what happened.

Image

M was all about the mission at hand. S was terrified that his mom, BM Boys, was so far away. I could hear him screaming “MOMMY!” from all the way up on the second floor of the house. He dropped the pillow that FMIL Camera made, and picked it up by a string.

And then he dragged the string all the way down the aisle, while screaming and crying. Ah, kids.

Image

M is so in the zone.

…and M was all “S, please. I got petals to throw.”

Do I wish S hadn’t cried? Of course, but does it bother me? Not at all. It’s a hilarious story, and let’s be honest—you can’t be mad at a two-year-old in seersucker and a bow tie. I can’t wait to tell S all about this at his wedding. Now, when we show him pictures and ask “Why were you crying?” he answers “Because I wanted my mom!”

Next, it’s my turn—do I fall down the stairs? Spoiler alert: No. But I was worried I might.

Our ring bearers could be good friends! I think their little meltdowns are actually pretty adorable and they do make for great stories! (And adorable pictures)

I can completely relate to your story about the little ones!! Our flower girl (8) and ring bearers (3 & 1) did such a great job at the rehearsal, but I was 100% convinced that with 200 people staring at them they would not do such a good job.

The 1 year old burst into tears and had to be carried down the aisle by my brother’s MIL (god bless her), and the 3 year old clutched to the flower girl for dear life, constantly pushing her into the sides of the pews.

Do I wish I had an adorable photo of the three of them? Sure. Do I regret it? Nope, it is HILARIOUS.

My flower girl froze up, didn’t drop any petals until she got to the front, where she then just dumped the entire basket. It was pretty funny.

I have to tell you, my flower girl (4) did iffy at the rehearsal but I knew it was out of my control so I let it go. On the wedding day, about an hour before the ceremony when we were wrapping up group photos, I headed inside and saw her screaming and crying sitting in a corner. I figured her mom would have to walk her down but come ceremony time she surprised me. She was perfect and had a big smile on her face the whole time! I got lucky.

Your outdoor venue is beautiful! I love the view of the water behind your ceremony area with the greenest green grass in the fore-ground.

I’m with Mrs. Palm Tree: I am on the edge of my seat waiting to hear about your arrival!

    All the best!

The arch really is lovely and, man, those too-young ring bearers… At my first wedding ours decided he no longer wanted to be up front anymore and passed me at a toddler run as I was walking down the aisle!

That’s adorable, and I especially loved your captions. Our little ones did a great job even though I was a little worried about my 3-year old ring bearer.

Two flights of stairs? You’re much braver than I, that’s for sure!
