Figuring out Fonts

I realize I’m being fully ridiculous here, but I really want an address stamp.

And if I’m going to get an address stamp, I may as well choose a cute font. And it may as well be the same font we use on the rest of our paper products. Although it would be silly to design everything else to match a stamp. So obviously I should choose the font I want to use for the paper products now, so I can put it on the stamp and then everything will match and unicorns will dance with puppies on rainbows and all that. That, or no one but me* will care.

I think Feel Script is super pretty.

Although Shamrock does not like “swirls,” so this free option below might be a nice compromise. (Still pretty, not as swirly.)

And this one is also super pretty:

I tossed out a few other options because the capital “M” was ugly (we’re three-quarters M over here, so it’s kind of important). Which clearly makes me even crazier than I already was. Yay me!

Did you get a stamp? Are you laughing at me right now?

*Patently untrue. Designer friend B will totally care, and BM Blondie will notice even if she doesn’t really care per se.

I got a stamp early in the process. Me and my Mr. have lived together for over a year so I just laid it out simply without last names (example)

It has been a lifesaver with our save the dates, invites and RSVP cards, truly. Plus that is the one job I gave Mr. to ‘help’ with invites to stamp them all. our colors are blue and yellow so I got blue ink. I justified my 25$ slurpe as cost effective for the time it would have taken for me to either write them out or run them all through the printer. Mr. agreed. Good luck and I really love ‘In type we trust’. it has enough flow to be fancy but not too much to make it hard to read or extravagent!

Love the stamp idea! I really wanted to get one but I had to start cutting little things since I spent more on my dress than originally planned. The Feel Script is my favorite of the three.

I loved seeing everyone’s personalized stamps as Christmas cards rolled in this year! We got a stamp shortly after getting engaged with just our first names so I wouldn’t need to replace it. I would like to get one with “The Bicycles,” though, so we include the kids.

We got one from Etsy, but didn’t custom design it. It worked out well on our envelopes! I like all of your picks!

The Etsy shop above lets you pick a sample one or choose your fonts, and they have 1000s so thats pretty cool!

I really wanted one, but we plan on moving about a year after the wedding. If we were staying put I’d get one but it just didn’t seem worth it to have it for only a year.

I did the same thing with fonts, and FI is also an m. Adding needing a good capital G to the mix and…I was basically crazy. I wound up choosing Lavanderia, but I feel like I’ve seen it so many places since then…which definitely couldn’t be bc I’M LOOKING FOR IT NOW, now could it? ha. I also really liked feel script, but I didn’t like the price. :/

I got a self-inking stamp and overall ended up being disappointed, it was very inconsistent to use. Sometimes too much ink, sometimes not enough, sometimes not enough in certain area…ended up not using it for anything. I’d love to get a stamp again someday but next time I will research the quality more or go for a rubber stamp with a ink pad. So many people have beautiful ones that seem to work out great! I’m a bit jealous mine was a flop.

I bought a super inexpensive stamp (since our correspondence was being sent to my dad’s house), and it was such a time and hand saver! I love the Feel Script and Carolyna, I have both and they are so beautiful.

We got an address stamp with our first names for all the wedding related stuff, and we got tons of compliments about what a great idea it was vs. writing our names a million times. We kept using it until we moved this past summer, when I got a new one with first + last name and our new (more) permanent address.

Do it! Totally get a stamp! I wish I had done it; it’ll save you so much time (you can use it on your bridal shower thank yous, invitations (both on the main envelope and RSVP envelope), wedding gift thank yous, and afterwards. A totally worthwhile investment. And a great one, too!

I love my self inking stamp. I got it for around $20 off Etsy. I love it! It saves so much time and effort. Totally genius idea!

I got a stamp too and totally tied the font with my invitation suite. I love the coordination ;) I went with Carolyna Pro Black, so pretty!

Mr. T and I have an address stamp, and he’s OBSESSED with it. I need to get him a new one, though, because we just moved!

@cateyes: With you on the price! He’s MM and I’m MC, so thats all over our invites, I had to make sure it wasn’t ugly!

    So, obviously a good idea!

@jhilliard: @MissSemi: @brightyellowgaloshes: @Bribaby119: I’m all for not having to write/print our address a million times. We do plan on moving within the next year, but I figure we’re going to need our address on so many things before we move its still worth it (and, you know, I just wanted it).

You’re in the right place for people to think you’re totally normal for being obsessed with fonts/stamps/etc., so no worries!

I just bought our stamp last month. ;-)

I desperately want an address stamp, but since Stallion and I are pretty much guaranteed to be moving in the next two years, I’m doing my best to wait until we’re more settled :( But I’m going to go ahead and say you guys need one! Feel Script is gorgeoussssss.

I want one, but I can’t commit – I have a terrible time choosing fonts!!

I impulse purchased our invitations (the design was so pretty) and am now kicking myself that the font doesn’t match everything else. At Mahogany Script is nice, and free is always great! I’m a total sucker for Carolyna Pro Black, but we ended up going with Coneria Script (http://www.dafont.com/coneria-script.font) for everything.

    Good luck!

@MsGinkgo: Haha! Update: I did commit, and now I’m not sure :/ Go figure. But whatever, its still pretty!

@_Adelaide_: Shamrock hates swirls (he insists no one will be able to read it. Really? Is that an actual thing? Even on our names?) so I’m trying to find a pretty one with reduced swirliness for him.
