The Votes Have Been Tallied, and…

So I had my bridesmaids vote—did they want to…

a) Choose their own dresses from within my color palette (red, magenta, & fuchsia)

Kind of in this vein, but with red instead of the lavender / Image via Style Me Pretty / Photo by The Collective Photographers

b) Choose their dress from the Alfred Sung line in Barcelona, Dahlia, or Watermelon dupioni

With six voters, how did we turn out?? (DRUM ROLL…)

It was a 6-0 vote for b) the Alfred Sung line!

I was a little surprised that it was unanimous, but that also made it very easy to “break the news” to everyone!

They used Weddington Way to select some preliminary favorites. Then, for the four ladies who live in Chicago with me (so not my future SILs), we went on an outing to Bella Bridesmaid to try on some samples and see the colors in person:

In actuality, only the color on the left-hand side is one of “my” colors (Dahlia). Bella Bridesmaid didn’t have any dresses in Watermelon or Barcelona that day, which made me very sad. However, I did have the swatches I had ordered, and the colors in the middle and right are SO close to them that I don’t think I’ll be able to tell the difference at all. They were still Alfred Sung dresses, but not the ones they chose—this picture was taken simply to have a picture of all three colors together.

Ultimately, these are the dresses everyone chose!

Then, we got all FANCY and had lunch at the Waldorf Astoria:

(Truth time: The Waldorf Astoria did not charge my credit card for almost six weeks for our lunch there—I was so excited that we ended up with a free lunch! Then one day the charge finally went through. And then my life got a little less exciting. Wah wah.)

Anyway, that is the story of what my bridesmaids are wearing! Up next—what my house party will wear…

Yay, I knew I would have voted for the Alfred Sung dresses. I know those aren’t your actual colors, but they look so pretty together! I’m excited to see how they all turn out!

Six weeks for a charge to appear? That’s somewhat inconvenient… and bad customer service.

@Miss Parisian: The colors are SO similar, I had the swatches with me – basically these are different materials (peau de soie instead of dupioni) but I wonder if they use the exact same dye…
    @Mrs. Airplane: Aren’t they great??
@Miss Barn: It’s especially great when they don’t charge you 😉 @Mrs. Bracelet: Yeah…I guess I could have contested it and said it shouldn’t have taken that long to go throug…but oh well…I got to feel the high of feeling like we had a free lunch for about 6 weeks! LOL

I’ll be honest, I was having a really hard visualizing those colors together – but the pic you posted looks gorgeous!

Now that I see yours all lined up, I kind of wish I’d gone that route, but I’m far too much of a Type-A control freak to have mismatched dresses. All the different necklines would bother me. They look pretty for other people, but I don’t think I could handle it.

Love the dress! Not getting free lunch sucks. But I hope it was at least worth paying for (six weeks later).

I love, love those colors together! The jewel tones are beautiful! Quite the opposite of my platinum/ivory/lavender affair, but gorgeous nonetheless! Sometimes I wish I went a little more colorful…but then I know I would worry if things were the perfect shade.

@luluvohn: Haha – it’s not for everyone! I’m Type A about certain things, but not in matchiness :)
@Miss Goose: It wasn’t the greatest meal of my life, but it was worth paying for, I guess!

@MrsCam24: oooh, platinum, ivory, and lavender sounds beautiful!!
