Prettify Me! The Inspiration

Is “prettify” a real word? Well, if it wasn’t before, it is today.

In the real world, I’m a pretty low maintenance gal. My daily hair routine is to brush out the knots and throw it in a ponytail to get it out of the way, while my make up routine is sleep in long enough I don’t have time to apply any. Even when I’m getting dressed up, I still don’t do much to my hair and face.

I flipped between down or up. On the one hand, I like the look of my hair down. On the other hand, I’m getting married in August, and humidity and I aren’t friends. I ultimately decided that having my pinned loosely up, without looking prom-ish, would be the smarter choice; however, I knew I was going to have to hunt for some inspiration. To Pinterest!

For makeup, I won’t lie, I’m a little nervous. Since I rarely wear makeup, I always feel like I’m wearing too much when it’s done. On the other hand, I definitely want to look like a more polished version of myself.

Even though I had some idea of what I wanted to look like, I had no idea where to start looking for makeup inspiration. Since I have redhead skin, I decided to just throw in a search for “redhead celebrities” and see where that took me. It definitely took me to some good places.

After seeing everything I picked, it seemed like I was drawn to a fairly dramatic eye, with everything else being pretty neutral.

I won’t be doing a hair and makeup trial until June or July, but I think it’s a solid base to start with.

Where did you go for wedding-day beauty inspiration?

I have both your second and third photo on my Pinterest as well, haha! Though I have decided to go in a slightly different direction. I’m also a fan of heavy on the eyes, easy everywhere else. You’re gonna look gorgeous!!

I think if I had Pinterest, I’d pin all of those hairstyles! The second one was one of the inspiration pics I used for my hairstyle for the Palm Tree wedding! They’re gorgeous. I’m glad you’re getting married first so I can see how they turn out! :)

I have a few inspiration pictures on Pinterest, but my hair is too short to really do anything with so I’m basically pretending hair and makeup don’t exist :)

Inspiration #3 is the exact photo that my wedding hair was based on from Pinterest! Lovely!

What about something like in your engagement photos? I’m mad jealous of your hair in those photos – seriously stunning!!! You could do that with some curls and a flower or something by the pony tail.

I do however disagree with your term “prettify.” I think you are pretty as is!

I love your inspiration! And if you remember (I think!), Mrs. Panda wasn’t too sure about a lot of makeup since she normally doesn’t wear it and she looked GORGEOUS!

Ooo I think the kind of grey-ish Carrie Underwood eye will look great on you!

@Miss Llama: @Miss Barn: @Miss Parisian: I’ve had the second one pinned for awhile, it’s been a long time favourite!

@Miss Milk Cow: Theres a lot of cute short hairstyles, I’m sure you’ll find something great (plus, it shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg)

@Mrs. Bicycle: I remember Mrs. Panda’s makeup. I actually let out an audible wow the first time I saw them.

@Miss Pyramid: I’m leaning towards the Carrie Underwood look, but I have to wait for my trial to see how it turns out!

@charisma87: Hmmm, you’ve given me something to seriously think about. I may have to look into a few more side ponytail photos.
