Quick, someone pop me, because I can still hardly believe it. I’m a bee?!? Holy cannoli!

It’s a good thing Mrs. Mouse’s email reached me while I was on my lunch break, because I’m pretty sure I let some choice words fly. Ever since I discovered Weddingbee back in July, as a bee-in-waiting, I toyed with the idea of applying to blog. But never in a thousand years did I think I’d be selected. I’m both ecstatic and humbled by this opportunity.
So let’s get this party started with some intros! Mr. Puffer and I met in 2013 after I lost a bet with a coworker and had to join an online dating site. Mr. Puffer was one of the first guys to contact me—and the only one I ever met in person. That’s us below, on our third date.
His smile still makes my heart go pitter-pat.
We did the long distance thing—Pennsylvania to Maryland—for less than a year before deciding this relationship had staying power. After a lot of soul-searching, I found a new copywriting job outside Baltimore, packed up my bags and my two cats, and moved to Charm City. Now we live in a cozy little house with our four fur kids. Yes, that’s right, four: his dog, my two cats, and the holy terror of a kitten we adopted together in November.

Why Miss Puffer? Because I’m pretty round like one! But seriously, I’m a tried-and-true introvert. Put me in the spotlight, and I want to puff up and float away. It’s one of the biggest reasons why I never wanted a wedding. Marriage, yes, but the idea of dressing up in a white gown and walking down the aisle as over a hundred people look at me…shudder.
Luckily for me, Mr. Puffer is extrovert extraordinaire and has worked very hard to pull me out of my shell. He counsels substance abusers for the Baltimore drug courts, so he spends his days talking to people and standing in front of judges. (Quite unlike me, a marketing copywriter, who spends eight hours staring at a computer and rewriting the same tagline 15 different ways.)
Bringing out the goofy in me
Mr. Puffer is the reason I’m here. He’s the one who wants the grand reception and the toasts and the dancing until midnight. Once I realized I couldn’t talk him into eloping, I caved. I ordered a planning book. Downloaded a planning app. Joined the ‘Bee. And somewhere along the way, I started to get really excited for this little ol’ wedding of ours.
And I’m jazzed to have all of you along for the journey.
