Getting Gallery Wrap Canvas For Cheap

January 19th, 2009 @ 4:19 pm by Mrs. Avocado

I’ve recently been crying over the cost of gallery wrap canvas prints. I want to fill my house with them and create my own version of the oft-cited Martha gallery wrap layout.

Source

Unfortunately ordering them through the company my Mom uses for her own professional printing would run me $75 for an 8″x10″ print (that’s wholesale people!).

That Wedding: The Ring Ceremony

January 16th, 2009 @ 11:29 am by Mrs. Avocado

Our officiant stepped forward and everyone quieted down. He welcomed our guests, thanked them for coming, and introduced himself. We call him President Christensen because he is a member of the area priesthood in my hometown. He was also a close friend of my dad’s in high school (and sources report he even dated my mom a little bit!). It was important to have someone…

That Wedding: Ring Ceremony Prep

January 14th, 2009 @ 4:06 pm by Mrs. Avocado

While the boys were golfing and us girls were gallivanting around taking photos, our DOC Tiffany, Hotel 1000 coordinator Donna, Aunt, and a few cousins were putting the finishing touches on all of the setup.

Jamie Smith

I felt really bad about asking my aunt to hang the chandelier for me, because I felt like I was asking her to work on a day of celebration. She’d…

Finally we had arrived at the photo shoot I was most looking forward to that day! My bridesmaids were looking hot in their non-matching dresses and mini veils, with their cocktail rings and black and gold shoes. The weather was cooperating and we only had to walk one block down to find a nice deserted street with all kinds of nooks and crannies with wonderful…

That Wedding: The Whole Party

January 12th, 2009 @ 4:56 pm by Mrs. Avocado

When we pulled up to Hotel 1000 the valet station was crazy! Many of our guests were all arriving at the same time and since the hotel is located right in the middle of downtown Seattle they don’t have the capacity to handle more than 3 or 4 cars pulling up at once. The valet started to wave us forward, as if to say, “circle…

That Wedding: Those Groomsmen

January 9th, 2009 @ 1:56 pm by Mrs. Avocado

Getting shots of the groomsmen should be easy, right? There’s no, “Does my hair look flat?”, “Which pose will make me look the skinniest?”, or “Wait, I need more lip gloss!” (I may or may not be guilty of that last one).

And looking through the first few photos of the groomsmen shots, I believed that to be the case. They look great! (And unless you…

After all of those hugs we walked over to the lawn for the group shots. What is it about walking photos that makes brides love them so much? This shot even has some random car in the background and it is still one of my favorite wedding shots.

As the guests gathered outside to wait for us to exit the temple there was a flurry of activity while everyone tried to finish getting ready. The groomsmen were given their ties (all from eBay) and the boutonnieres Mamacado crafted for them. Isn’t she amazing?

That Wedding: To Wed! To Wed!

January 6th, 2009 @ 6:38 pm by Mrs. Avocado

After I rushed everyone out of the woods there were quick hugs all around. (I’m usually really casual about whether I show up to things on time or not, but the day before the wedding we visited the temple and I had a breakdown when we walked in 2 minutes late. I didn’t want a repeat on the wedding day.) It was so sad to…

Yes, I know the ring shot train has left the station, but I’m standing here with my camera in my hand crying out “But wait! Let me on! I think I have some good ideas to share.” So if the conductor (in this case Mrs. Bee) wouldn’t mind hitting the brakes for just a second so I can catch up, I’ll hopefully be able to…

That Wedding: Woodsy Family Portraits

January 5th, 2009 @ 1:32 pm by Mrs. Avocado

We wanted our immediate family portraits to be epic. We wanted something we would get excited about hanging on our wall. So we restructured the day a little bit and asked our parents and my sister to meet us in the woods after our own portrait session and before our marriage ceremony. I realize now that if we didn’t have the vintage suitcases, the plan…

About Mrs. Avocado

For a self-proclaimed wedding aficionado like myself, big name wedding industry professionals are my version of celebrities. If they made a wedding industry version of People magazine I would wait with breathless anticipation for each week’s edition. “Oh my goodness!” I would exclaim. “That photographer is dating that florist! And look, my favorite wedding cake baker had a baby!”

So when I found out that Jessica Claire…

Christmas in Poland

December 29th, 2008 @ 1:08 pm by Mrs. Avocado

After mentioning my trip to Poland in May several months ago, a few of you asked to hear about the trip. I was a slacker and never wrote such a post, but I’ve been to Poland once again and thought you might like to see what Christmas in Poland is like.

Our trip was delayed by several days because of bad weather in Chicago, so instead…

That Wedding: Into the Woods

Mr. Avocado and I are hopping a plane to Poland tomorrow morning, so this is the last you will hear from me for a few weeks (Christmas in Poland and New Years in Atlanta; I’m spoiled this year). I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a delightful New Year!

Did I mention I was an hour late for our first look? Haha, writing it…
