I remember thinking over a year ago, when Mr. Ballet Flat slipped this ring on my finger, that our wedding couldn’t come soon enough! I remember gazing at a countdown that read over 400 days, then 200 days, then, oh my gosh, 99 days! A few days ago, the countdown read 9 days! Wow… where did the time go?

When I started writing for Weddingbee, I remember reading recaps and thinking, ‘My time for these will NEVER come. I’m just planning forever, it seems.’ However, I think it’s time for me to eat my words.

I would like to admit that registries give me a headache. Mr. Ballet Flat and I registered a few months ago for the basics: flatware, blender, Crock-Pot, As Seen on TV detox foot pads. You get the idea. There was another temptation that was unexpected: FREE stuff!!
Yes, free stuff. You can get stuff when registering for a good chunk of merchandise that is of one brand, and even more stuff for people actually purchasing you all of those things. It was tempting to go in there as Joe Blow and Anna Banana and just register for obscene things for free stuff, but we didn’t. (Yes, I know that’s completely wrong to do… it was just a funny, innocent thought!)
This past weekend, however, as Mr. BF and I were adding a couple more registry items (we realized we needed curtains!), Target gave us a book with mainly advertisements for the expensive stuff that they want you to register for. Pfft… I try to avoid such books, because it tempts me to want things that we really do not need.
I flipped through it, however, because Mr. BF was clearance shopping for electronics (ah fun!) and I am currently trying to save my money for Mickey souvenirs instead.

While 95% of the planning is done, I still have a few things left to do. I felt like they were manageable tasks to take care of in the time we had left until the big day. So, I thought, no big deal.
That is, until a little surprise arrived on Sunday.

Yep, I have a nice case of a cold. To note, I hardly EVER get sick. Maybe once every two years I get sick, and when I do, I get REALLY sick. So, I’m being extra cautious in making sure I get over this really quickly. I basically raided Target with my sniffly, sneezy self and bought the basics (in my experience, this will kick a cold’s booty in a couple of days!).

When I first started blogging on Weddingbee, I mentioned a few New Orleans traditions that I wanted to bring to the wedding. Well, I kept to my word! These are a couple of last minute DIY projects that I think will add some fun to the party!
For our second line dance, I decided to save a little money and glam up our umbrellas myself. They are pretty pricey if you have someone else to do them, and it’s amazing what some hot glue and a little bit of feathers can do! I’m pretty sure I’m leaving them as is, but who knows, I might add some sparkle and more flair to them later!

“Make an elegant invitation statement without the fuss. Stylish invitation sets with matching envelopes, reception and response cards included.”
I know as I have been planning our wedding, I’ve been thinking of some ideas that will make traveling for our guests easier. I made a map to help guests find the ceremony venue, and then I thought, well, I can also include a map to get to the reception, as well as to the church. Then, as I was driving the interstate into the city one Saturday, it hit me… TRAFFIC!

I totally forgot that the interstate is having some construction done, thus the reason for the traffic. It took me almost 45 minutes for me to get from Point A to Point B, which usually takes me 20 minutes. I immediately thought of our wedding. It was about the same time of day as the wedding will take place, and I really didn’t want our guests to have to deal with traffic, especially the out of towners, who do not know some alternate routes to take to get there.

One of the biggest things about a wedding are the memories. My photographer told me she is going to take hundreds of pictures of the big day. Hundreds? I don’t think I have a Facebook album from an event with hundreds of pictures! Heck, in my college days, I thought I took too many pictures… but this just takes the cake (in a good way)!
Well, since I’ve heard from so many former brides that the day just flies by and you don’t really see it all, I decided we should ask for more perspectives from our guests.
So, Mr. BF and I were on the look-out for the infamous disposable cameras. We didn’t care if they said wedding on them, because we are going to have cards on the table explaining what they are for anyway!
So, in our adventures to Target, we found a bunch on clearance for half off. Even better, they are good for action shots. I know our families will be going nuts on the dance floor, so this will be great to capture those random moments (just in case my photographer has too much to capture on her own… you never know with my family, trust me!).
I decided to pretty them up with some invitation scrap paper and pretty ribbon I found at Michael’s. I also Goccoed on some Martha Stewart teal-ish looking “recipe cards”. They will make great cards on the table, in my opinion, and were on clearance for $1! SCORE!

Wow! Can you believe it’s almost MAY? I remember March 2008 so vividly. Ever since my engagement ring was placed on my finger, Mr. BF and I have been planning for our big day to happen!
This past weekend, I met my amazing photographer, Amanda Meyer, at City Park in New Orleans, where we took my bridal pictures. This made me thankful for our indoor wedding, because I will not need to dodge large caterpillars, nor will I need to pick random leaves out of my crinoline.
I do need to mention that I had a snag that morning. I tore my right contact lens with NO extras at my parents’ home, so I decided that I would just take the bridals without glasses, trying my best to focus on the camera. I’m pretty blind without my contacts, so this made for an interesting day. I spent the day (except for the picture taking) in my glasses. I usually wouldn’t care, but because I got those little nose marks from the pads on my glasses, I would constantly have to re-blend my makeup in that area to make sure it wasn’t really noticeable.
I had my hair/makeup trials done that morning by Get Polished, and ladies, let me tell you that airbrush makeup is worth every penny. I had it applied at 11AM Saturday morning, and late that night, it was mostly still on! Amazing for my oily face! ![]()

I’m just extremely excited about our honeymoon to Orlando, FL. Last time I went to Disney World, I teared up on the ferry when I saw Cinderella’s Castle. Yes, I’m a Disney FREAK! I’m sure I’ll bawl again behind my obnoxiously huge sunglasses.
Disney World is not one of those honeymoons where you just relax all day. Disney World involves serious walking (up to 5+ miles a day), pretty good strategy, and the fun part, being a kid all over again! We wouldn’t have it any other way! ![]()

As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, I was going to make some cupcake pops for my shower hostesses as a part of their thank you gifts.

My aunt and Mizz K TOTALLY went above and beyond what any bride would expect for a shower! About 20 people from my and Mr. Ballet Flat’s family showed up on Saturday to celebrate the upcoming wedding! It was fabulous!

Mizz K pinning on a pretty rose corsage! I feel special!
The fun is about to begin!!

Don’t make fun of me… there is just something about a little hint of bling that makes me super happy. Heck, when I was a kid, I wanted a BeDazzler SO incredibly badly. My mom was smart not to get it for me. I probably would have blinged up my school uniform!
Now, I’m going to bling up my bridesmaids in a way they NEVER thought they would be blinged up. Yes folks, I blinged out some Old Navy flip flops for them! I wasn’t about to give them a plain pair of flip flops to relax their dancing feet!

As you might already know, I make maps for a living. So, of course, I had to make our wedding directions map for our invitations! While this map wouldn’t serve as impressive to my colleagues in GIS (Geographic Information Systems), I think this was a pretty good map for our guests, considering I couldn’t use my work’s GIS software!
My Photoshop skills are limited to none, so I used Microsoft PowerPoint to make the maps. I will admit, while it is time consuming, the steps are rather easy. It took me about 3 hours to perfect this map to my liking, but if you aren’t as picky as I am, it shouldn’t take that long! Also, it’s pretty hard to tell you how to make these maps by typing it out, so if there is any confusion, please comment and I’ll try my best to help!
By the way, my apologies in advance for the fuzzy picture examples. I don’t have Photoshop to make them perfectly clear, so please accept my meager Paint/PowerPoint skills here in showing you how to make this wedding map.
Here’s the finished product first:

I was very hesitant to post this out of sheer embarrassment (please don’t flame me!). I’m really ashamed to say that I’m back to 251 lbs. I was in the 240s, full steam ahead, and I just slowly stopped caring about weight loss. I’m still 13 lbs. down, but it hurts to read that scale in the morning with the weight I currently am. I think I have a curse in my head, because I’ve teetered around the 250s/260s and I want so badly to teeter in the 230s/240s!
I could blame birthday season, ice cream, or the stress of planning, but I blame myself and my dwindling willpower.

My fabulous aunt and MOH (Mizz K) volunteered to host a bridal shower for me in a couple of weekends. There were a few date snafus, since they are both busy bees (pun intended) in their own lives, but with the date sealed and addresses finalized, the shower is on! I’m super excited about this, because there are some people I haven’t seen in forever that I can’t wait to hang out with for a few hours!
To thank my hostesses, I am giving them a few simple little gifts. Surely no gift can show them how much I appreciate them doing this for me, but it’s a start. ![]()
I purchased a few handmade soaps from The Anderson Soap Company on Etsy. While I haven’t used the products, the reviews are great and the scents are awesome as well!

I have been having the hardest time settling on a look for the wedding. I do know that I want to copycat a Carrie Underwood look, because I’m always drooling at her makeup at every appearance/performance she has.
So, here’s the dilemma. Should I be the bold, daring bride, sporting a smoky eye look, or should I be the sweet, simple bride sporting a more neutral eye? Either way, I want neutral lips, because I never really look good with lip color, and I don’t want to be busy re-applying lip gloss all day!
