Of course, with the standard wedding, you have the invitations and possibly even Save the Dates to send out to your attendees via snail mail. However, with everything being digital and most of us using the Internet in our everyday lives, a wedding website is an excellent way to share information instantly!
When our planning really got started, Mr. Ballet Flat and I agreed that we definitely needed a wedding website. We are computer geeks by profession, and know how wonderful of a resource the Internet is. So, I shopped around the web for possible wedding website hosts.
Here are the websites we looked into using…

Our wonderful photographer, Amanda Meyer, took our engagement pictures for us last April in what is known as “the quad” on LSU’s campus. The scenery there is just beautiful, and I knew it would make for great shots. It was one of my favorite places to just hang out in college, because it is so relaxing and gorgeous! The weather, lucky for us, was beautiful for a spring day in Louisiana, and Amanda made us feel so comfortable.
Finally, without further ado, I give you a sampling of our engagement pictures (at least my favorites!)
By the way, I will openly admit and give a huge thank you to Sara Blakely for creating Spanx. I appreciate your products holding in my non-photo friendly belly ![]()

etsy is a crafter and crafter lover’s DREAM. I personally love looking here for wedding inspiration, being a DIY bride. Going on the site can be overwhelming, however, etsy has made things easy for you brides who are looking for items in your wedding colors!
Here’s a SUPER cool tool that etsy has.

I love New Orleans. I’ve lived here all my life (with the exception of 5 years at LSU), but it never grows old. After Katrina hit, a lot of things slowed down or halted in life. I remember staring at the TV the day after, and looking for my house in the aerial videos they were panning to all day. My house was fine. As for my relatives, not so much. I remember how depressing it was to drive through the Lake area, near the levee breach, only to see cars wrapped around poles, homes demolished and wow, the smell. I’ll never forget that moldy smell that resonated MONTHS after the storm hit those areas.
While New Orleans has been beaten pretty hard, I remember that next February. Mardi Gras… Some of the krewes were cancelled or stripped way down, due to the lack of funds or even standard floats suffering major water damage. However, just seeing Mardi Gras parades made it feel like home again. I’m not talking Bourbon Street Mardi Gras here, I’m talking St. Charles Avenue, parade central.

“Add a memorable touch to your wedding with unique favors that match your theme.”
Being that our wedding colors are teal and brown, I found it very complicated to find jewelry in those colors that was formal and wedding ready. So, what’s a bride to do? DIY!
I haven’t made jewelry since the friendship bracelet days in elementary school. Remember these? Ahh… days!
However, I thought well, maybe I could try this. If it doesn’t work out, no harm done! If it works out, one less thing to shop for!
I knew I wanted simple dangle earrings for my bridesmaids that would work with my plan of combining swarovski crystals with pearls in their necklaces. So, I started my search looking through my bridal magazines for inspiration. This is what I came up with after playing around with bead patterns.
Mr. Ballet Flat and I have a pretty interesting relationship. Before he even proposed, we were already talking about our big day and spending the rest of our lives together!
When Mr. Ballet Flat proposed to me, I think he really did his homework. See, I’m pretty darn shy around strangers, and I get embarrassed very easily when attention is brought my way. So, in my head, I was hoping he wouldn’t do a public type of proposal when the time came. I didn’t want people to watch me bawl like a baby and turn a candy apple shade of red.
Mr. Ballet Flat proposed to me on my birthday. Minutes after it turned midnight on March 16, actually. At the time, Mr. Ballet Flat had just recently closed on what will be our first home, and we were spending the weekends there painting, cleaning and renovating the house. So, needless to say, around that time, I was half asleep and pretty out of it. I didn’t expect this to happen at all!

Since we are on a strict budget for the wedding, I decided early on that I would DIY as much as possible (without taking too much on), to save a dime here and there. I fell in love with the idea of pocketfold invitations early on, but websites selling them at over $1/piece, I knew this would be pricey. However, with the help of this DIY pocketfold bio, my creative mind started building a template.
In my template, I have 7×19 inch pieces, and divided it originally as: 3″, 5″, 5″ with 6″ on the end for cutting the pocket out. (Note: I only really needed 7×17 inch pieces for this project if 19″ is hard to find or if you are custom ordering your paper.) However, after scoring my first one, it just didn’t fold into one another naturally. So, I went to another knottie’s blog (heatherkj’s Road to the Aisle) and found in her blog, that she had one 5 1/8″ score then one 5″ score, so that it would fold into one another smoothly. I tried that, and it worked (and it still fit in the A7 envelopes I bought!).
So here is how to make a pocketfold in 5×7 size. Once, I got in the swing of things, I could pump out 15 of these each hour that I really paid attention to it. This was rare though, because I would mainly do this while watching my reality TV. ![]()

Hi everyone! I’m Miss Ballet Flat, and I’m really excited to be here in the hive! Weddingbee was one of the first wedding blogs that I discovered, and I just knew that I wanted to be a blogger here! Many of the Weddingbees constantly inspire me in my wedding planning, and I really hope to return the favor to other brides. Imagine my surprise when I was officially named Miss Ballet Flat!
I am a GIS (geographic information systems) analyst, which is a fancy name really for a map maker. However, I like the GIS analyst title better, because it’s a great conversation starter, and it makes me feel smarter! I majored in Geography Sciences at LSU (Geaux Tigers!), and I always kept myself busy around campus, being involved in about 4 extra-curricular organizations. So, after graduation, I feel like I hit a lull in work. Now that I’m engaged, I have something to definitely keep me busy for the next 8 months!
On a side note, in case you were wondering, yes, I’m a huge, wacky football fan. I even painted my face every game for my senior year! I learned to love the game at LSU. I mean, how could you not with 90,000+ other people cheering the same way as you every Saturday night in the Fall? For your viewing entertainment, here I am in my painted face glory. My face reads “Beat Bama” (sorry Bama fans!).
