Final Designs For Candy Buffet

June 5th, 2007 @ 5:48 pm by Mrs. Bell Pepper

I’m packing up the candy buffet today! There are about 12 containers to pack; luckily we have a lot of boxes from Crate & Barrel and they have really nice packing supplies for glass containers. My caterer said he will provide about a 48-inch table for our buffet. This table in the photo is about the same size, and I think the space a bit tight for all of them. I’ll send him this photo and see if he can provide a larger table. As recommended by all the readers, I took away most of the ribbons and the containers do look nice without extra embellishments. I might take away all the ribbons entirely and just add a few lavender paper flowers in between the containers:

I had my final fitting this weekend and I’m quite pleased with how the dress turned out! My dress underwent an extreme metamorphosis over the past few months. This is a photo of the dress when it arrived early January 2007:

Stamp Freak

Like my fellow Weddingbee girls, I wasn’t pleased with the latest stamps that were out when we sent out our 2nd batch of invites. Zazzle had a promotion a few months back and I decided to purchase a bunch of customized stamps with our engagement shots. They look really impressive and they are huge! We’re definitely using them for our thank you cards, too bad we have to add the extra two cent stamps!

Black or White?

June 1st, 2007 @ 3:58 pm by Mrs. Bell Pepper

I am such a procrastinator. I have one week to go until our rehearsal dinner and I still haven’t found a pair or shoes and a dress that I really like. I decided to go shopping yesterday and I tried on a bunch of different dresses and nothing really impressed me. I did find one dress from Ann Taylor: it has a pretty floral burnout overlay design.

The only problem is the dress is black and it doesn’t have a summery feel to it. I feel like I should be wearing something yellow, white, pink or red. I bought it because it looked great at the store and I then I tried it on at home… it just doesn’t look the same! Maybe it was the lighting at the store, the mirrors maybe tricked me into buying this dress. What do you guys think? Should I go with a lighter color or will this dress go well for our rehearsal dinner?

I love large gable boxes. You don’t have to worry about wrapping tiny corners, they are so easy to assemble and all you need is a pretty ribbon to make your package complete! There’s also so much you could put inside of these boxes. For the labels I added a watermark image of the Liberty Bell and placed our welcome sign in front of the image.

Dance All Night To This DJ…

Dance All Night To This DJ... : wedding dj music philadelphia Z910406 283206769_375c9d4289

There was much debate whether or not we should have a band, DJ, or an iPod playing our music for the reception. My fiance’s mom liked the idea of having a band. The look of having a band at your reception is very classy and the sound is so much better live. The cons for having a band is that it’s very expensive and you really have a limited song list collection to choose from. I contacted most bands in the Philly/South NJ area and the minimum cost to book one was about $2000, which is way out of our price range. Read more…

My Qipao Is Done!

May 30th, 2007 @ 10:29 am by Mrs. Bell Pepper

We went to Flushing last weekend to pick up my qipao. The dress looks beautiful but there was one problem with the dress. It didn’t fit like a glove anymore! I lost some weight around my bum and it surprised everyone including myself. I didn’t see much of a weight change recently but I did notice my pants were getting looser around the hips. Perhaps I gained more muscle and lost some fat? Oh well, it was kind of hilarious because everyone was staring at that specific area of my body in such shock! The tailor kindly altered my dress again and within two hours the dress was finally finished.

A few close-up detail shots of my qipao:

Our Candy Buffet

May 29th, 2007 @ 8:33 am by Mrs. Bell Pepper

Our Candy Buffet : wedding candy buffet diy philadelphia Z907783.jpg

I bought all of our candy buffet containers many months ago, and since then they have sitting in my closet collecting dust. Yesterday I decided to bring them out and start to work on the candy buffet project. I brought out all the containers and my fiance and I were surprised how many containers we had - I purchased 12 containers?! They were all so pretty and it was kind of addicting to buy because they were so affordable and I found so many unique designs. I think out of all the containers these two are my favorites, both were only $7.99 and I couldn’t just buy one of them! I love how the bases of these jars look - they are so tall and elegant, and allows you to put something cute inside like a small flower.

Escort Cards Version 2.0

May 24th, 2007 @ 9:33 am by Mrs. Bell Pepper

I talked to my caterer and the museum event coordinator yesterday about the ceremony/reception details. I presented the circular menu cards and everyone seemed to like the idea, it’s simple to arrange and it looks very elegant in the white bone china they will be using for the reception. When it came to talking about our escort cards, I gave the caterer several ideas, one that I posted previously and a more three demensional idea. They seemed to love the three demensional paper flowers and I thought to myself, would this be too difficult to create for all the escort cards? I came up with ideas to make it easier for me to create a bulk amount of these paper flowers. Here’s a photo of a few of the flower escort cards I made so far:

Our Escort Cards

May 23rd, 2007 @ 4:26 pm by Mrs. Bell Pepper

I have a confession to make. Our wedding day is really creeping closer and I’m starting to feel a little stressed out. It’s kind of scary how our wedding seemed so far away and now it’s only in a few weeks! My parents are coming the week before the wedding, and I would like to find time to relax and spend time with them.

Last night I created our escort cards for the reception. My first idea was to create flowers for each guest but I realized that would be too time-consuming, especially knowing that I only have a few more weeks left. I tried folding mini-escort cards out of pearlescent paper and I really didn’t like how the folded edges turned out using my bone folder. I like really neat corners and edges so I wanted to use something that already had a clean design. I liked the lavender envelopes we used for our RSVP cards so I tried creating a design using them. I used gift wrap paper as the background and printed out each of the guests’ names on vellum paper. To bring out more color I added the double happiness paper punch on the left of each card. It’s great because it helps cover up the adhesive I used to seal the vellum paper to the card and it adds more security to the paper:

William-Sonoma and Crate & Barrel should change “our registry” to “my registry” or “the bridal wishlist”. I have to be honest with you, my fiance doesn’t give a care about what’s listed on our registry. He thinks our mix and match dinnerware selection which dates back from our undergrad years is perfectly fine. Well, I did select our dinnerware set from Crate & Barrel for a reasonable price per setting. I wanted something in a white/ivory color and something that had a unique design. One of our relatives just bought us all the dinnerware sets and I’m so relieved we won’t have to be eating off of our college days dinnerware anymore!

Rehearsal Dinner Ideas

May 21st, 2007 @ 6:21 pm by Mrs. Bell Pepper

Today I started working on the details of our rehearsal dinner. We will be having our dinner at a Vietnamese restaurant which has a beautiful banquet room on the second floor. The food is great at this restaurant, but the thing that really sold us was the lovely ambience. I’m delighted that we can use candlelight (unlike our wedding reception venue) and we can pretty much do whatever we want for decor. The banquet room already has a warm glow so I want to try a bolder color scheme: something like orange, magenta, and pink. I love Martha Stewart’s idea with the tissue paper decor and she gives a good example what I might want to achieve for our rehearsal dinner:

Paper Flowers

May 21st, 2007 @ 9:28 am by Mrs. Bell Pepper

Paper Flowers : wedding diy flowers philadelphia Z895184.jpg

I love the Paper Source Flower Kits - they are such a cute idea and I love how they feature tutorial videos on their website. The lady who stars in these “how to” videos is great and so easy to understand. She can also be hilarious and entertaining at times throughout the video! Anyway, so I wanted to buy one of the flower kits but they didn’t come in the colors I wanted and the prices for the kits were kind of high. I watched the “how to” video online and after watching the entire video, I realized it might be easy to create these flowers without having to buy the kit. To figure out how to make the petal design, I watched the video and paused right as she was tracing from the petal template.

Circular Menu Cards

May 18th, 2007 @ 1:54 pm by Mrs. Bell Pepper

menu.jpg

I discovered this unique menu card idea from Philly Knottie Just_JRM’s wedding. The menu cards were designed by Robin K Designs and she was my inspiration for my pocketfold invites and other reception ideas. I had several ideas for creating our circular menu cards, but nothing seemed to work well. I first thought about adding a gold doily and then I thought about stamping/embossing a design. The ideas just didn’t work and now with our wedding day coming soon, I had to create something…FAST!
