Weddingbee was just down for 25 minutes! It had nothing to do with our servers: our webhost’s nameserver went down.
When you type weddingbee.com into your browser, your computer has to ask a “name server” which IP address to send you to – so that you can find our servers. The name server is like the Yellow Pages of the net: you look up the name, and the Yellow Pages tells you the phone number and street address of the business. That’s the system that went down for us!
We’ve never had that happen before. We’re looking into getting a more powerful name server with backups built in, so that this doesn’t happen again. It’s pretty expensive though, so we’re weighing the pros and cons first. We’ll know more as soon as we talk to our name server provider.
But we wanted to let you guys know right away what the word was! We’ll keep you posted in the comments…
Hey guys - this is BIL Bee with an update on the new Meet The Bees feature on the front page…
We’ve made a few changes based on your feedback.
The first few times we added this feature, it ended up slowing down our database (and the site). But we’ve made some changes, and things seem a lot better.
Let us know if the feature is working for you!

Hey everybody, it’s BIL Bee. Mrs. Bee recently asked me to fix some Boards features that were giving you trouble. I’m not 100% done, but I was able to fix a few things and add a few new features…
Hey everybody, it’s BIL Bee with some exciting news… Weddingbee finally has its own dedicated server! Previously, we shared our webserver with other sites, but now we have the whole server to ourselves. If you’re reading this message, you’re seeing us at our new home.
Please let us know how it’s working for you!
Thanks,
BIL Bee
