Today is Mr. CC & my 6th anniversary, so it may seem a bit strange that we waited until this past weekend to have our engagement photos taken (since we’ve been engaged for four years now), but that’s just how we roll! I had planned on bringing my point & shoot digital camera and a tripod to the Valley Forge National Historical Park and taking our photos myself, but our photographers and good friends, Laura Kicey and Michael Alan Goldberg offered to take our photos for free (way too nice!)!
Ok, enough rambling. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

As the wedding date gets closer and closer, most couples have fun watching their countdowns tick down to the double, then single digits.
Some people use countdowns on sites like Facebook:

If you’re like me, you probably hadn’t heard of boudoir photography until the beginning of your wedding planning process. I remembered immediately shuddering when I first heard about it, as I imagined myself trying to be sexy in front of a photographer. I saw myself striking a George Costanza-like pose on a chaise, in my socks and underwear. The idea of wearing lingerie in front of a stranger, or even a friend, gave me the heebie jeebies.

Since we’re having our guests choose from nine flavors of Jones Soda for our toast, I thought it would be wise to make a sign for the soda table with all of the flavors being offered. I wonder which flavor will be the first to go…

Since our shower was hosted by my maid of honor, my mom (and dad) and Mr. Candy Corn’s mom, I set out to get them gifts that said “thank you for being such rockin’ chicks!”

I had my makeup trial this weekend and it went way better than I could’ve imagined! It seems pretty rare for a bride to be happy with her makeup on the first try, so I was thrilled to luck out at Jason Matthew Salon in Philadelphia, where the lovely Karen made me over. My daily makeup ritual consists of some lip gloss, a little foundation to cover up my ginormous nose pores and a swipe or two of eye shadow. So to have someone apply makeup to my face for an hour made me have flashbacks of my ***wee ballerina days (I hadn’t seen an eyelash curler since then). As an added bonus, there was an opening with Anthony, the super fabulous gent who made my spermified eyebrows go bye-bye painlessly. I also scheduled an appointment (50% off, score!) for my first ever microdermabrasion session with him in a few weeks. When I was getting my makeup done, Karen said it is a great way to remove dead skin (ick) and clean out the pores, which I could certainly use. I’m going to test out how my skin reacts and then if all goes well, I’ll schedule another session about two weeks before the wedding day.
Anyway, enough babbling and onto the before & after photos!

Mr. Candy Corn and I have been engaged for nearly four years (on September 1st) and I’ve just started wondering, why haven’t we ever done engagement photos? I guess I figured since I have hundreds of photos of us, we didn’t really need any more. However, my snapshots aren’t exactly wall-hanging material and I really wish we had some photos of us where one of us isn’t making a crazy face or getting into some sort of trouble (see example below):

I now present to you a true story of what took place at our wedding shower (I enjoy making animated GIFs a little too much):

Over the past few weeks I’ve spent my evenings working on our wedding timeline because organization is the one thing that makes me feel somewhat sane with all of the wedding chaos taking place. I’m about to send this off to all of our vendors to have them finalize the times and make sure everything looks ok.
Anyway, I just wanted to share my work with the hive (the layout was heavily inspired by Ms. Pom’s awesome timeline). It turned out to be a whopping 15 pages! I’m just glad to have everything in one place instead of having to scroll through my inbox of over 300 wedding related e-mails.
Has anyone else created a ginormous wedding itinerary?

My fantabulous maid of honor, Melanie, put together one heck of a wedding shower for Mr. Candy Corn and I this past weekend! Along with the help of my mom and Mr. Candy Corn’s mom (who hosted the shower at her house), they brought about thirty of our closest friends and family together and spoiled us with a mountain of presents! I couldn’t have asked for anything more.
This was a really rough week for us…Mr. Candy Corn had to sell his wrecked car to a junkyard for less than $200, and my job informed me that I’d be unemployed by the end of the week (along with everyone else in the company) after just hiring me back less than two weeks ago. Needless to say, this was just the kind of happy distraction we needed to lift our spirits.
Before I get to the presents part, I’d like to introduce you to some of the party people (the camera-shy folks aren’t included):

This Sunday is my first (and hopefully final) makeup trial! I am absolutely clueless when it comes to makeup (I like Burt’s Bees lip gloss, does that count?), so I’m looking forward to seeing what my face looks like with makeup plastered all over it. Hopefully I won’t come out looking like RuPaul, but if I do, at least I’ll be able to entertain you guys with some dragtastic photos!
Now, who wants to see the photos I’m bringing to the trial for inspiration (do other people do this or is this way anal of me)?

Before my Weddingbee obsession, I didn’t even think sending out rehearsal dinner invitations was necessary (which, I’ll admit, it probably isn’t), but now I’ll take any excuse I can get to spend a night being crafty and coming up with small wedding-related projects to keep me distracted from the recent crapfest we’ve been dealing with since Mr. Candy Corn’s car accident. I decided to go with tea-length invitations, which we will print and put on chocolate brown cardstock with a bit of the border showing.

That’s right, I’m wearing my glasses for our wedding and so is Mr. Candy Corn! I’ve worn glasses for the greater portion of my life and have no complaints. I know a lot of brides-to-be struggle with the notion of wearing glasses and think it’s more formal to go without, but I just can’t justify having my glasses be a part of my face 364 days out of the year, but not for our wedding day. I feel most confident when I’m wearing glasses, and I’d like to be able to see Mr. Candy Corn standing at the end of the aisle without having to poke foreign objects in my eyes that I’m not used to (I’ve never worn contacts, so I’d be a watery mess).
