A Rainy Day Kinda Weekend

August 4th, 2008 @ 8:28 am by Mrs. Candy Corn

For having such a terrible weekend, I sure did manage to accomplish a lot! On Saturday afternoon, Mr. Candy Corn went out to visit his dad and take his little brothers out to get measured for tuxes (something that I had been nagging him to do for weeks). On Mr. Candy Corn’s way home, right before getting off at his exit, a guy in a car swerved into his lane without even looking or turning on his turn signal (I guess he realized, oh crap, I need to take this exit!), so Mr. CC had to quickly swerve to avoid getting hit, which made the car lose control and sent his car spinning across three lanes of traffic and into the concrete median on the side of the road, which totaled Mr. Candy Corn’s car.

The Invitations Are in the Mail

August 1st, 2008 @ 3:35 pm by Mrs. Candy Corn

This past week has consisted of me staying up all hours of the night to write addresses on the outer envelopes of our invitations. At first I was really trying to do my best at mocking calligraphy, but once I got to the letter “D,” I was already done caring about curlicues and straight lines. As long as the invitations arrive in our guests’ mailboxes safely, I’ll be as happy as a little lamb.

Even though I had a cheat sheet with dark straight lines showing through the inside of the envelope and drew the names out in pencil first, I still managed to write crooked. Calligrapher I am not.

Our Photo Reminder Card!

July 30th, 2008 @ 12:00 pm by Mrs. Candy Corn

Thanks to Miss Creampuff’s recent post, I discovered her older entry about photo reminder cards, a concept that made me audibly squeal in my chair. I absolutely love photos and probably have over 1,000 photos of Mr. Candy Corn and I saved on my computer. It’s sad, but true. That’s right, I’ll admit it, I’m a photoholic. After seeing Miss Creampuff’s awesome diy project, I immediately decided to design my own double-sided postcard that our guests can tuck into an envelope (not yet designed, bear with me!) with copies of their photobooth photos. Thanks to Miss Creampuff’s super informative post, I was able to “borrow” (or blatantly steal) her text for the back of the postcard with the upload instructions. I totally owe Miss Creampuff my first born and I hope she doesn’t hate me for being super inspired by her craftiness!

The front of our card with an illustration I did of Mr. Candy Corn & I. I threw a little damask in there to represent for the damask-loving bees!

A visual summary of the strange happenings that took place in my first major wedding nightmare.

I had my first truly horrific wedding nightmare last night. I’ve been used to having wedding nightmares since about the 6 month mark, most of which consist of me not having enough time to get my dress on and having to go down the aisle in ripped jeans, no makeup and total bedhead.

Children of the Candy Corn

July 25th, 2008 @ 12:45 pm by Mrs. Candy Corn

As you all know, I am a fan of candy corn. The photo above is proof that I have been a dedicated candy corn lovah since I was a wee little thing (and also proof that I sported super stylish sweatshirts). Despite the fact that our wedding colors are blue and brown, I’d still like to work candy corn into the wedding somehow. Only a few people will understand the connection and most everyone else will be like, “What’s with that random candy corn stuff?” But I want to have a mini–shout out to my hive–peeps! So this is where you guys come into play. Can anyone think of any rockin’ ideas for how I can incorporate candy corn into the reception somehow? I found really cute floating candy corn candles that I would love to put in the bathrooms, but the museum doesn’t allow candles, since fire + ancient mummies = bad idea.

A perfectly spherical carved Chinese crystal which belonged to Empress Dowager Cixi—one of the finest in existence. The crystal ball was stolen in 1988, and its elegant silver stand, a stylized ocean wave, was found in a culvert not far from the Museum. The items were recovered in 1991 after a former museum staff member saw the statue in an area antique shop; the crystal ball was traced to a home in New Jersey and returned to the Museum.

First off, I wanted to let everyone know that the magazine I used to work for has decided to open their doors again and begged me to return. So, as of this week I will be employed (for who knows how long… can you tell I’m cynical?) and able to pay my bills once again. One of the benefits of working for a magazine was the unannounced press kits we’d receive in the mail. One week, my editor-in-chief opened a package with a pair of Wifeville undies in my size and tossed them over to me:

Disneymooners

July 19th, 2008 @ 2:22 pm by Mrs. Candy Corn

Since Mr. CC and I don’t plan on taking our honeymoon to Italy until June ’09, we are highly considering taking a “minimoon” to Disney World for a couple of days during the holidays. My parents will be in Florida during the winter months and my brother will be visiting his in-laws in Florida for Christmas, so it seems like the perfect excuse to go to Disney World and be total tourists with my family (if they’re up for it, if not I can just ride Tower of Terror over and over with Mr. CC).

A friend recently sent me this YouTube video that made me laugh hysterically and develop a comedian crush on the very sassy Giulia Rozzi. Immediately after watching it, I started panicking and wondering if I’ll turn into one of those Mickey Mouse-earred newlyweds who forces her hubby to wear unfortunate mouse-related attire (not that there’s anything wrong with that, to quote Seinfeld).

Just like Miss Cookie, I decided to browse Etsy for a much-needed wedding clutch, where I stumbled upon the shop Red Ruby Rose. I highly recommend ordering a custom clutch from the sweetheart of a seller, Rowena. She was incredibly kind and willing to work with my requests, plus she shipped it to me overseas at Superman speed!
