After much consideration, we’ve decided to go with a live musician for the ceremony & cocktail hour. Due to the acoustics of the Chinese Rotunda, it makes the most sense to go with a musician as opposed to having a sound system in that space.
We’ll have our dj from 6:30pm until the end of the evening, but from 4:30pm-6:30pm, Christopher Dunn will be playing classical guitar (samples can be heard on his website). He has agreed to write an arrangement of “The Wind” by Cat Stevens for my processional, which I’ve always imagined going down the aisle to. Here’s a layout of the ceremony music:
The prelude (it’s up to him what he plays)
The wedding party’s processional (In my Life -The Beatles)
The bride’s processional (The Wind - Cat Stevens)
The interlude (it’s up to him)
The recessional (Here Comes the Sun - The Beatles)
The postlude (it’s up to him) Read more…

One of our favorite vendors we’ve found has to be our videographer, Wellspun Weddings. John Gangwer, who started the business after being dissatisfied with the videography options available for his own wedding, creates absolutely beautiful vintage videos with full-day (8 hour) coverage starting at $1,249. They offer Super 8-quality cinematic charm at an affordable price, which makes this recent college grad very happy! WSW also serves areas that aren’t so local (for those of you who don’t inhabit this lovely Keystone State).

My most recent obsession is trying to figure out what to decorate the white, wooden aisle chairs with for the ceremony (think super affordable!). I love Martha’s pom poms, which are supposedly incredibly easy to make. I’m thinking we could just make these in our colors to decorate the aisle with, what do you gals think? It would be uber cheap and cute…two c-words I can totally live with!

When you’re engaged, you hear a lot of other people’s opinions on marriage. Recently I received a MySpace message from a guy that I absolutely loathed in high school. He would pick on me on a daily basis (cue violin), chuckle at his own redneck jokes and remind me how short I was.
I hadn’t heard from this dude since graduation day, and I had hoped to keep it that way. While clicking on my “new messages!” link, I discovered this little beauty from him:
So when is the doom’s day otherwise known as marriage? Heehee, I think its sort of scary that there might one day little (well, littlier *ducks object of my destruction*) ms. candy corns running around.
Though, to put it in perspective, a little ones of mine running around would probably try to take over the world….their slogan would probably be “Free Cake for All!”
I hate when people assume that just because I’m getting married, I’m automatically going to push out “little ms. candy corns.” Even my girly doctor just recently made a “run while you still can!” comment when I told him I was getting married this fall.

Mr. Candy Corn and I have been engaged since September of 2004, so needless to say we’ve had some time on our hands to plan things. Even though I knew we’d be getting married eventually, it always seemed like a childish fantasy that would never really play out. Now that we’re actually signing contracts and making appointments to consult with vendors, it’s making my stomach dance around, Beck-style.
There is one thing that I can’t control that sort of terrifies me. The big day is getting closer and closer, and I know I’m going to be a shy spazz when I walk down the aisle with my pops and when I say my vows. The main problem on my plate is that my face turns completely red (I mean Sally Jessy Raphael glasses red) when people pay an ounce of attention to me. I don’t really know what to do about it, other than wear 8 layers of foundation (and I SO don’t do foundation). People have said that I might have rosacea, but my face doesn’t get blotchy like this:

Phew, the photo booth rental has officially been taken care of! Apart from the whole getting married and spending a day with our closest friends and family thing, this is the part that I’m most looking forward to! After dinner, there will be an attendant guiding guests to the photo booth, where they can take endless photos from 8-10pm. The fancy schmancy attendant takes the printout of the photos (the machine prints two 2×3 strips on one page), cuts one off for the guest, and places the other in our scrapbook so the guests can sign next to their photos and voila!

Since neither of us drink alcohol, Mr. Candy Corn and I decided to order personalized Jones Soda as a favor, as well as something guests can toast with during the speeches. Don’t get me wrong, we’re still having an open bar, but who really drinks more than a sip of the champagne anyway? I’ll take any excuse I can get to drink orange & cream soda, so October couldn’t come soon enough!

This past weekend, my brother & his wife, and Mr. Candy Corn and I visited my parents for their 40th anniversary. Since our parents have spoiled us for our 20+ years of existence, we decided to pay them back. Our first surprise was to take them out to dinner at Hotel Hershey (oh my goodness, chocolate cherry bread is AH-mazing).

My fantabulous friend, Miss Laura Kicey, aka the girl who took my profile photo, is going to be our wedding photographer. I tend to be a total spazz when strangers take my photo, so it is a huge relief for me to have a friend photographing us. I would have tortured her and made her be one of my bridesgirlies, but luckily for her, she gets to hide out behind the lens all night.
