Sweet Anniversary for the Caramels

October 7th, 2008 @ 4:40 pm by Mrs. Caramel

Mr. Caramel and I are on opposite sides of the coast on our 1 year anniversary.  I’m not that sad, since we will be together soon in NYC, but I also wanted to share our anniversary shoot!

I had to pressure Mr. Caramel to do an anniversary shoot with me… I know he isn’t fond of doing lots of cheesy photos with me, but this shows how much he loves me! I knew that since we were moving to NYC, we’d probably not see our California campus for a very long time. Since we took so many formal shots, I wanted to capture our good ’ol casual days on the campus.

Remember the Invite

September 25th, 2008 @ 11:27 am by Mrs. Caramel

Who really remembers cards and invitations? Well, ever since Mr. Caramel and I have started to pack for our NYC move, we realized that we have to trash a lot of sentimental things that we don’t want to forget.  One of the things we had to throw away were our wedding cards and extra invitations.  Since so much thought went into picking our cards and invitations, I couldn’t bear to just throw them away without some type of documentation, especially the really beautiful ones!

So… I took pictures of them!

New York, New York!

September 17th, 2008 @ 1:01 pm by Mrs. Caramel

Almost one year ago, when Mr. Caramel and I were on our flight back from our honeymoon, we decided to spontaneously stay in New York city for one more day. This was when we fell even more in love with the city and felt that we HAD to move there one day.

Well…. that time has come! Mr. Caramel and I are moving to New York in just a few weeks! A couple people have told me that the best thing they’ve done together as a young married couple was to move to different city. Although I’m sure it will be lonely and scary, you really learn to grow and appreciate each other in a new city. Just the very thought of having my very first white Christmas in NYC makes me super excited!

Can We Makeup?

I love Sephora.

Since I haven’t been posting as much, I thought I’d write a huge honka-monga post on one of my favorite places ever! I have definitely slowed down my makeup shopping since I’ve been married. I still wear makeup everyday, but it takes me about oh, I don’t know— a good 10 minutes to slap on my makeup and run out the door. I tell Mr. Caramel that he is lucky that he married a woman who can get ready in 15 minutes! :)

Snow in August!

August 28th, 2008 @ 12:28 pm by Mrs. Caramel

A few weeks ago, Mr. Caramel, my parents, my sister and I went on a cruise to Alaska! We took the Sapphire Princess cruise and it was quite an adventure! We saw lots of honeymooners there and I was able to take many pictures and pick up some tips for any future cruise honeymooners. We went on this cruise partially because my dad used to live in Alaska for a while, and also to pre-celebrate our one year anniversary which is coming up in a couple months! Eek!

Helpful Tips

July 11th, 2008 @ 2:44 pm by Mrs. Caramel

I’ve been super MIA — so sorry about that!  But ever since our side wedding business has picked up, I’ve been saving more and more tips I can share with you all.  I’ve been to super fancy weddings and low budget weddings… here are some things I’ve learned in the past couple months that may be useful for you!

*Steaming your Wedding Dress
I personally paid a ridiculous amount to steam my silk wedding gown. The woman at the boutique said for a silk gown, I absolutely HAD to steam my dress. At a wedding I was recently working, the bridal party realized that they needed to steam the wedding gown before the wedding, which was hours away. So they started to call random wedding shops to see if they could get it steamed ASAP. A few places quoted $200+ just for steaming the dress! Then some brilliant person suggested asking the hotel if they had steaming services… and they did! Someone actually came to the room with a huge steamer and was able to steam the dress beautifully for only $20. The bridal party said it looked better than when it was first steamed a week ago. So make a mental note for those who are getting ready at a hotel—ask your hotel if they offer clothes steaming services!

A Vintage Look

April 28th, 2008 @ 8:27 am by Mrs. Caramel

Mr. Caramel and I contemplated buying the digital proofs of our wedding pictures, and I’m so glad we decided to buy them! If you’re in the same boat and wondering if you should ever purchase the digital proofs, I really suggest you do it. You can store the digital files and wait to print them later on. It turns out that there are so many more pictures that we had never seen and I liked some of them just as much as the ones our photographer had picked for our website.

I started to google ways to photoshop the digital images and I was able to find a few helpful websites to get that vintage look that’s really popular now. It’s really easy to follow the steps and you can get beautiful effects! I think I prefer that darker vintage look, just to contrast the prints I already have from my photographer.

Does anyone else have any easy-to-follow websites for photoshopping digital proofs?

Have You Ever Been In Love?

April 24th, 2008 @ 1:16 pm by Mrs. Caramel

That was the name of our first dance song by Celine Dion! It took us awhile to agree on a first dance song– but once I heard this song on the radio, I loved everything about it! (Thank you 103.5 KOST love songs!) The song isn’t new but for some reason I had never heard the Celine hit before! The reason why I loved the song so much is because it talks about passionate love– the “I can’t live without you” love that Carrie Bradshaw talks about on Sex and the City.  I really feel that Mr. Caramel and I have that passionate love, and it was surprising because for the longest time I didn’t really believe it existed!

I especially love the bridge: “The time I spent, waiting for something that was heaven-sent…When you find it don’t let go…” I believe that timing is the one thing we can’t control, so once you feel that you have someone special and they feel the same way— don’t let it go! It is so rare that two people feel that way about each other at the same time. I’ve heard many stories of relationships that never happened just because of timing. And there may be deep regret of “what could’ve happened”.

No Power In My Flowers

April 20th, 2008 @ 4:00 pm by Mrs. Caramel

In my previous post there was a comment about my bouquet, which was a compliment — thanks! I really disliked my bouquet, so I was surprised to hear that!  I’m sure it’s a nice bouquet in general, but it was nothing like what I had discussed with my florist.

Here were some pictures I had provided for inspiration:

So What About The Groom?

April 16th, 2008 @ 5:55 pm by Mrs. Caramel

Many of you have probably heard the saying ”it’s all about the Bride” on the wedding day.  It’s true that photographers mostly shoot the bride, and everyone only stands for the bride—but I say that these days, grooms care just as much as the bride about being involved in all aspects of the wedding.  Mr. Caramel was actually very involved in all the decisions we made—so to be fair, I dedicate this post to him and his groomsmen!

These pictures were taken by a friend to capture the day from the groom’s end. Enjoy!
