When I'm not working, auditioning or rehearsing, I am hanging out at home with my FI and our two beloved cats. I know I already said the photos in this post were my absolute favorite from our wedding, but I have to say these pictures are a close second. We chose “The Way I Am” by Ingrid Michelson for our first dance as husband and wife. I have always loved this song because so many of the lyrics make me think of inside jokes between Mr. Castle and me. For example the line, “Sew on patches to all you tear” reminds me of how I used to tease Mr. Castle before we began dating. He had these jeans with huge holes in both knees, like ridiculously huge. I still don’t understand how he could actually wear them—they were that bad. I used to say, “You know I can sew those up for you, or better yet I can put a patch on them. Maybe a big peace sign or a groovy flower?” It was my dorky way of flirting with him…
Anyway, this song is so simple and sweet, and I knew I wanted to somehow use it on our wedding day. I wasn’t sure exactly how we would use it until one day Mr. Castle suggested it as our first-dance song. I loved the idea. We wanted our first-dance song to be something with a happier tone, not too sappy, and “The Way I Am” totally fit the bill. If only I had thought of it first! Since I love this song so much I spent most of our first dance singing along. Afterward I thought, “Oh, that’s probably not going to look very attractive in pictures…oops.” Well, I couldn’t have been more wrong. Once again our amazing photographers captured out first dance beautifully. You can’t even tell I was singing along!
It was definitely a magical moment, not at all awkward like I had feared. Another great thing about our song choice was that it was short! It’s a little over two minutes long, which was the perfect amount of time for us.

It was time to enter our reception, but before we made it inside our bridal party needed to be introduced. For their entrance we chose a song that we thought couldn’t be more perfect, the theme song from Friends! We didn’t tell any of our bridal party about the song choice, so when the music started they all got really excited!

I shared our ceremony details in an earlier post and now it’s time to take a look at our reception details! Cocktail hour was coming to a close and our guests were ready to head into the theater. But before they went in they had to grab their “ticket” escort cards.

These are my absolute favorite photos from our wedding day. They capture all the emotions, love, and the essence of the day so perfectly. They bring back all those feelings and memories more than any other photos from our wedding. This was the first time we were somewhat “alone” after becoming man and wife. Pretty quickly our photographers faded into the background as we enjoyed some time together soaking in our newlywed bliss.
I have to warn you this post is photo heavy! I could have broken it into two posts, but I figured I might as well put them all in one! I’m not going to say much more other than our photographers are amazing. They captured us and our love in a way I didn’t know was possible.

We had so much fun taking these photos. Since we went to college with most of our bridal party, everyone was already friends and excited to spend some quality time together.

I know family formal posts aren’t always the most exciting…so I included some photos of food at the end. But honestly, although they might not be as exciting as getting ready or detail shots, they are important photos to have. These are the photos that make Mom, Dad, and grandparents so happy. It was also fun to spend some time with our family taking pictures right after the ceremony. We started off the family shots with Mr. Castle’s family.

At this point Mr. Castle made me aware of the fact that pieces of tissue were stuck on my face. Apparently the mixture of airbrush makeup, cheap tissues, and tears is not ideal. Mr. Castle to the rescue!

Father Geoff began our ceremony with an opening reflection.
“What greater thing is there for two human souls than to feel that they joined together to strengthen each other in all labor, to comfort each other in all sorrow, to share with each other in all gladness, to be one with each other in the silent unspoken memories?”

As I waited in the bridal suite with my Dad, I started to feel those nervous butterflies. I thought about how this event was the focus of my life for the last 15 months and I couldn’t believe it was finally here. I joked around with my Dad and asked if he was going to cry. He said he wasn’t, which was a lie because he definitely did. Right before we were about to walk out the door I noticed a huge beetle in my path! I didn’t want it making a new home in my train…so I asked my Dad to please get rid of it. He saved the day by kicking it out of the way. Then it was time to go!
The music began, an instrumental version of “Rainbow Connection.” We got our cue to go and we began our journey down the aisle.

It was time to get married! Brent made an announcement to please turn off cell phones as the ceremony was about to start! Singer J and the groomsmen accompanying him started the first song for our families entrance, “Candle on the Water.”
We decided during our planning that we wanted all our family to walk down the aisle, including our siblings who were not in our bridal party. My brothers acted as ushers and Mr. Castle’s sister did a reading, and we wanted them all to be a part of the processional as well. It ended up working out very nicely. The first to enter was Mr. Castle’s grandmother, escorted by his nephew.

Before getting into this post I would like to apologize for my extended absence. It’s been a busy couple of weeks in the Castle household. First we jetted off to San Francisco to attend our first wedding as a married couple. We had an amazing trip and it was a very beautiful wedding. When we arrived back in New York we jumped right into throwing our good friends an engagement party! It was fantastic, but word to the wise—maybe the Saturday before Halloween isn’t the best date to try and throw and intimate party…Then, as most of you are aware there was this storm here…We are very lucky and fortunate compared to many others on the east coast. Last week was really surreal. You would think I had all this extra time to blog but my focus was on the news and what was happening in my beloved city that I call home. So please forgive me for my absence and keep sending prayers and good thoughts to all those who were affected by the hurricane.
I left off showing all our ceremony details. At this point in the day our guests were beginning to arrive. Meanwhile my bridesmaids and I were hiding out in the bridal suite anxiously awaiting for the ceremony to start.
That period of time between coming inside after taking pictures and the start of the ceremony felt like an eternity. I was ready to go and get married but it still wasn’t time yet. We had another mini dance party and then decided to take some pictures to try and kill some time.

I LOVE reading other bee’s posts about their wedding day details. I’m a sucker for an artistic ring shot or a photo of bouquets in the bride and bridesmaids hands. So, here are all those special detail shots from our big day!

After I finished with the bridesmaids I took some photos with my Mom. I was determined not to turn into a sobbing mess. My Mom and I have always been very close but we had a lot of ups and downs during the planning process. There were a couple times when I thought my Mom might up and tell me she wasn’t coming. Needless to say, I was extremely happy to have this moment with my Mom on my wedding day.
