Since we only had to snail mail a couple of save the dates (the rest of them having been sent electronically), I wasn’t too worried about which stamps to use. I ended up going with the standard wedding band stamp. Truthfully there were very few choices for wedding stamps:
That got me to thinking about which stamp I need to buy for our invitations and RSVP cards (albeit, we have yet to design/purchase them!). Here are a couple ideas: Read more…

The other day, Mr. Chick and I were having lunch with Bestie M (of previous wedding venue). One of the many cool things about Bestie M is that she works at J.Crew and has excellent style. She excitedly pulled out the new spring collection catalog, and what do we see but a light color suit Mr. Chick has been wanting!

Here are some I tried on with my dress. I knew I wanted my mom to make my veil for me, and after explaining this to Mia Couture (where I got my dress) owner Emily, she kindly suggested that I try on different veils with my dress so that I can send pictures to my mom.

First off, let me apologize for running away for so long. Let me start from the beginning.
On our tenth anniversary when we were in Seattle last year, I had a revelation. I felt like everything for our wedding was becoming makeshift because I was holding on to my childhood idea of what my wedding would be: everyone sitting down to dinner, dancing, toasts. From renting the china, glasses, tent, silverware, to all my DIY projects, I was starting to feel overwhelmed and further and further away from what this wedding is about. So I told Mr. Chick that I’ve had a change of heart—that we would do his original dream (which I shot down long ago) because that is so much more “us”. So, long story short, we are getting married in France!
A year and a half ago, Mr. C and I visited Sauternes, a small town in France. We fell in love with the town, and we’ve now booked a chateau in the next town over, Barsac, where we will be staying and having a small ceremony in the gardens.

First of all, let me apologize for not blogging for so long! There has been a lot of drama in my life in the past three weeks (work, wedding, etc.) but I am slowly seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Well, a glimmer, anyway. The good news is, I found a dress!! Hooray! As you might remember from this post, the last “decision” I had made was to have the Monique Lhuillier dress custom made for me at a cheaper price. Since my parents live in Taiwan, they were going to see if they could have it made there. They found a tailor who was going to make it for me, but then backed out because she didn’t want to make the bust without me being there. So I stalked Fashionbride’s blog for a couple of weeks and looked through J.Crew’s wedding dresses (again). Then last week I heard from a friend that Mia Couture, one of the first stores I went to, was having a sample sale! I first went to Mia Couture back in February of this year with MOH Sis and BM Lil’ J. I love the store, and my sales lady, Emily, was everything you can hope for: friendly, understanding, with impeccable taste. However, at the time, I couldn’t afford the two dresses I loved (hey, a girl’s allowed to have expensive taste! ) so I left the store empty-handed. Here are the two dresses I picked out back in February:

These were taken the next afternoon at 13 Celsius. The owner, Mike, kindly let us use the bar before they opened. If you’re ever in Houston, I HIGHLY recommend visiting this wonderful wine bar! Aaron and I are regulars at this bar not just because of the intimate atmosphere and the way Mike and his bartenders carefully choose wines according to the customers’ tastes and moods. We adore this bar because of the people who work there, and the love and respect they have for wines and for everyone who enters their world.

As Mr. Chick and I celebrated our tenth anniversary last week, I find myself reminiscing on how we met, and the ways we’ve grown together. I thought I would dedicate a post to our story and Mr. Chick’s proposal. What do you say?
Mr. Chick and I met one magical night in 1999. It was muggy and humid down in the courtyard where people were dancing at the Baker Blues party at Rice University, but we didn’t care because we were inside Mr. Chick’s dorm room with the air conditioning turned up high. I had been invited up to Mr. Chick’s room to play a rousing game of Trivia Pursuit, where I quickly realized I only knew answers to the popular culture category. I also noticed that Mr. Chick was very smart and knew answers to more than just the popular culture category. I wondered why all of the furniture in that room was labeled “AEM” and made a mental note to figure out that mystery later. Figure it out I did, as me and Mr. Chick attended a Rice formal dance called Esperanza together two months later.
Since it was a girl-ask-boy dance, I had to think of several crafty ways to get to know Mr. Chick before asking him out. One day, I was walking to class and saw him come out of a building. Excitedly, we walked together to the campus quad. Mr. Chick asked me where I was going, to which I replied, “The library.” Mr. Chick was going past the library, but since I wanted to talk with him some more, I kept walking with him. Mr. Chick then very smoothly pointed out “Um, the library is THAT way.” To this day, this is still a great joke between us.

But after seeing the hefty price tags, I quickly convinced myself that they were not for me. Months later, I find myself referring to them and drooling over their beautiful shoes again! So, I’ve decided even if I can’t afford them, I sure can still blog about them!
These would go perfectly with our gray theme! Read more…

He is up for anything, including wearing a leotard and performing Beyonce’s All the Single Ladies, playing on the SNL skit with Justin Timberlake!
This post doesn’t have much to do with our actual wedding, but I wanted to include it because it’s so representative of our relationship! We love doing silly things and making fools out of ourselves in front of other people. Don’t get any ideas, we are not doing this at our wedding (yes, Rock the Reception ruined it for me!) but for Halloween, yes!
Our friend Melissa (same Melissa as the awesome friend whose parents are letting us get married at their property!) had the brilliant idea of doing a group costume of Beyonce’s All the Single Ladies (Put a Ring on it). She ended up wearing another costume, but me, Mr. Chick, BM Lulu, and our friends Alex and Matt decided to go for it!

I am so SO excited about this post! I’ve been thinking about bridesmaid’s dresses for longer than my own wedding dress! I’m not sure why, but there’s something about bridesmaid’s dresses that just tickle my fancy. I’ve decided on J.Crew dresses in the color “light pewter”, aka, light gray. They will also have pink flower or bow accents (either a brooch or belt). I’m also letting my BMs choose the style of the dress. Now the problem is that I’m not sure whether I should decide on one fabric or let it be a free-for-all type of deal. Here are the dresses categorized by material:
