Male Cashier: Thanks. Have a nice day
Miss Corn:(beaming, as she picks up the stack of trashy tabloid magazines she just purchased) Thank you! (pause) IMGETTINGMARRIEDTODAY!!!
Male Cashier: Congratulations! Have a great day!!
I was so excited the morning of the wedding, I couldn’t sleep past 6:00am! One of my bridesmaids, Kristy, and I headed out to go get some munchies to eat, and on the way we stopped at the 7-11 to get some cash and pick up some tabloid mags.
Because Mr Corn and I are from Boston, and not Newport, we decided to rent a condo for two nights. This way, the girls and I could get ready in a nice, comfortable, non-hotel atmosphere and afterwards, Mr Corn and I could have a nice place to stay for our wedding night.
The condo was a really great idea and actually pretty cost effective when we factored in the cost of hotel rooms in Newport during the season!
So my post about iPod receptions garnered lots of feedback; mostly from people who support using an iPod over using a DJ. I figured this was a good time for a poll!! (my first one
)
Most of the comments on my post centered around lame DJs and lengthy do-not-play lists as the primary bonus of using an iPod/Laptop. But would you choose an iPod over a band?

I had heard of people using iPods as their DJ for their wedding reception, but I had never seen it in practice until the wedding Mr Corn and I attended in Seattle last weekend. (pictures courtesy of Google Images)
The wedding was really lovely. I had never been to Seattle before and I loved, loved, loved it!!
The rehearsal dinner was held at Greenwood Square above Upper Crust Catering on Greenwood Ave in Seattle. I actually have no idea how they managed this, but as far as I know, the groom’s mom and maybe an aunt or two actually made all the food for the rehearsal dinner and basically just rented the space for the rehearsal dinner. The staff was very helpful and I thought it would be a great place for a bride on a budget. The hall is on the second floor, and the view out the windows of the square below is rather charming.

Well, Mr Corn and I are headed to Seattle this weekend for his cousin’s wedding. There have been three Corn family weddings in the span of 10 months; his brother, us and now his cousin.
Something tells me all the relatives will be a bit glad when all these travel events are over.
How many weddings have you been to in the last 12 months?
There have been a couple of posts recently on the Bee about hiring videographers, and I wanted to jump in and share our decision with you readers in hopes that it might help someone.
Mr Corn and I never thought twice about whether we wanted a videographer for our wedding. The choice was clear; we didn’t. The reasoning wasn’t because the tapes can be cheesy, or because the music can be bad. Rather, we both felt that it was stupid to spend any amount of money on a videographer for a video that we might watch once.
About a month before the wedding, it dawned on me that I wasn’t actually going to get to see most of the wedding since I was in it. (For instance, when my cuter-than-cute two-and-a-half year old nephew escorted my mom down the aisle, I was still around the corner hiding from view.) I called up a couple we know and asked if one of them would mind just taping the ceremony for us. I knew it would be windy, and we probably wouldn’t be able to hear a thing, but at least then I would be able to see the processional.

After finishing up Rehearsal Dinner #1 for the wedding party and guests, we all headed to Newport Vineyards for Rehearsal Dinner/Party #2.
As previously mentioned, we had two rehearsal dinners for our wedding. The first one was a sit-down dinner at The Mooring Restaurant in downtown Newport for the wedding party and their guests.
Heading out to the rehearsal…
Outside ceremony brides… please pay attention:
Make sure that you visit your wedding site before your ceremony at the same time of day as your wedding at least a week if not two weeks in advance!!
Our rehearsal was at 3:00pm on the Friday before the wedding because there was another event going on at the fort that needed to set up by 4:15pm. When we arrived and went to our ceremony location, the wind was UN REAL! The site coordinator had told us that the winds pick up around 1:00pm and die around 5:00pm, the time of our ceremony, so I was expecting a pretty stiff breeze, but NOTHING like this:
I can not even begin to tell you how frustrating it has been to not have web access for just shy of 2 months. Since I have been out of touch for so long, I am hoping that what I have to offer to Weddingbee is still relevant. I guess I will start at the beginning and if I miss something or if there is something specific you readers want to know, just let me know in the comments and I can address it in a future post.
Alright…here we go…
The wedding was the most amazing day ever; I didn’t want it to end. I know every bride says that, but as a bride-to-be I didn’t quite understand how that could possibly be until my wedding day arrived.
There had been a lot of drama surrounding the day, with losing my job and the aforementioned sad family situation. But as the day got closer, it got easier and easier to just focus on the fun of the event.
I do have a lot to say about my wedding, but I am waiting until I have more consistent computer access before delving into all of that (for those of you waiting on bated breath for that to happen, I should have a new lappy around October 15). However, I do want to share the absolute, 100% best decision I made regarding the wedding because I believe if it can even help just one person, than it is worth sharing.
So what is it?
I brought a small notebook with me, and the morning after the wedding, when I couldn’t sleep because I had so many wonderful, happy thoughts pouring through my brain, I wrote them all down.
This may sound like a very simple thing to do, but the reality of the day for me was that from the moment they put the veil on me until about 2 hours into the reception, everything. was. a. blur. I tried so hard to be ‘in the moment’ and it just got away from me.
Due to extraordinarily unfortunate circumstances, not to mention ridiculously poor timing, as of last Monday, I am no longer at my job. I had been thinking about doing something more creative and was hoping to further investigate those possibilities after returning from our honeymoon anyway, but still, I would be lying if I didn’t mention how disappointing all of this is.
But, not one to let things like this get to me, I figure I can make lemon-cello from lemons (what…that isn’t the phrase? Guess I’ve been in Italy too long.) and move on towards something better.
As you know, I designed and created many things for my wedding and I have long been a card making/scrapbooking enthusiast. Although many of the things I created were not my own idea, but rather were ideas inspired by things I saw others have made in the past, I do think that I have some degree of talent in the area and it really is something that I love to do.
The very last DIY project I had to do before the wedding was the Out-of-Town bags. I got the bags on sale a while ago at AC Moore for something like 23 cents each. They were on the small side, so we only put a few things in them. Each bag had:
Hi there, Weddingbee readers. Mr. Corn and I are finally back from Italy and we had a wonderful, wonderful time. We started out on the Island of Capri and visited Sorrento and Pompeii. Then we had a quick jaunt through Naples to find the most amazing pizza ever for lunch before hopping on a train to Rome. After a few days we headed to Orvieto, thanks to weddingbee reader, Tracinda, who sent us a suggestion to go there a few months ago. We stayed there overnight and then rented a car and drove through the Tuscan hillsides to Florence, where we hopped a train to Venice where we stayed for the remainder of our trip.
It was so great to be able to go away for a long enough time to forget what day of the week it was. It was also really, really great to spend so much time with Mr. Corn since he travels during the week for work so we normally only get the weekends together.
Below are some highlight pics. I hope all of your wedding plans are continuing to go well and much congratulations to you ladies who have gotten hitched since I have been away.
It was the most. amazing. day. ever.
I cannot even begin to express how wonderful and amazing it was, so I am not going to try. But I do have some teaser pics taken by my bridesmaid, Lauren. We’re off to Italy today! Hope you all had a great weekend!!
