About Me: I'm a perfectionist trying to balance two jobs, motherhood, my craft obsession, and wedding planning. I am obsessed with all things wedding, especially creative ideas for saving money and DIY projects. A Southern Belle at heart, I love anything southern, especially sweet tea, grits, afternoon thunder storms, crab cakes, and good old Southern hospitality. Mr. Crab Cake and I are planning a vintage inspired wedding with tons of Southern flare (can y'all say that with a thick Southern drawl?).
Early in the planning, I knew we would want a vintage car to leave the church in. The first time I mentioned it, Mr. CC decided that he would take charge of this one aspect of our wedding. I put my trust in him and promptly forgot about it.
My man came through.
Everyone who was left at the church gathered outside to send us off.

Once the ceremony was over and most of the guests had left, we took a few minutes for family pictures.

I’ve sat down to write this post about 60 times. It’s hard!
We didn’t get very many pictures of the ceremony. It’s not the photographer’s fault. Our church was very particular about where she was allowed to be, and where she wasn’t. Life goes on, right?

So, we probably should have practiced that walk with the big poofy skirt on. Seriously, my mom kept stepping on my dress and by the time we got down the aisle to the altar, my parents were so far away from me, it looked more like a prisoner being led to her sentencing.

First, Mr. CC’s stepmom and Nana.

Because there was a Mass at 5, and there would be throngs of people milling around the church when Mass let out, we decided to play it safe and get back to the church just before 6 and hide. We tried once to get out and take some pictures, but our guests were already starting to arrive, so I ran back into the Bride’s room and took cover.

My mom and I took some really fake, posed shots:

Since I never did an inspiration board for our wedding, this was my first attempt. It was fun. I went straight to Etsy, typed in “Christmas ornament”, and, after searching through a few pages for something that caught my eye, I found this little lovely.

Cute, no? I’ve always liked when Christmas decorating was pulled off elegantly. This ornament was definitely one I could see hanging from my own tree.

On the staircase again:

With the tedious family pictures (mostly) out of the way, it was time to have some fun with our guys and gals.
We started with the ladies.

All dressed and ready to get married, my girls and I left the church and headed over to the Gates House for our pre-ceremony photos.

With our hair and makeup done, we drove to the church to get dressed.
Before I got into my dress, I helped the girls pin their brooches onto their gowns.

With my hair all did, it was time to put on my makeup. So, if you’ll remember, I decided to DIY my makeup.
But first, I had to put some on Mini.

And the nerves and anticipation of the day hit me.

Hi, I’m Mrs. Crab Cake and I used to blog here. I know, it’s been a really long time since I had anything wedding related to say. Well, it’s not that I don’t have anything to say, it’s just that I am (was) totally over our wedding. After 14 months of engagement, I had no desire to think about, or write about, the wedding. That, and I had an unbelievable number of pictures to sort through. I was totally overwhelmed by the amount of photos our photographer took. But, I think I’ve gotten over the hump and I’m ready to share our day with y’all! So, I’m promising to finish my recaps, but only at one per week, because that’s all I can handle. I hope y’all will forgive me for being so quiet these last few months.
Our day broke clear and hot. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and I was beside myself with excitement. Surprisingly, I wasn’t nervous or jittery or uptight about any thing. I guess I just figured that if it wasn’t done, it wasn’t going to get done. And, all I wanted to do was marry Mr. CC and go to the beach.

Me, totally disheveled, and my Godmother, getting our mimosas on. That’s my sister and Maid of Honor, Amy, at the table.

I really didn’t elaborate much on this before the wedding because there wasn’t much for me to talk about. One of my bridesmaids, AC, is a florist. I never considered hiring anyone but AC to design my florals. In fact, we discussed it before I even met Mr. Crab Cake. This is why I say I sort of DIYed my flowers.
After months of harassing AC about our flowers, she placed the order and had them shipped to my mom’s house where we would take over my brother’s cottage and transform it into a floral design studio!
The first (and probably most important) task at hand was to go to my mom’s house and sign for the delivery. AC was tracking the delivery from her home in Texas and told me that the flowers should be delivered by 10AM EST. I got to my mom’s house around 8:30, and prepared to settle in and work on some projects while waiting on the delivery. I was surprised to see my mother’s boyfriend there and decided that I’d let him sign, gave him instructions, and went on my merry way. (After all, I had a ton of errands left to run that morning!)
About an hour later, AC called and said according to FedEx, the flowers had been delivered, but there was a notation on the tracking site that said wrong address.
