Ah, my placecards. I am soooo happy with my placecards.
Each one of our tables has a theme relating to a favorite memory we share together. We haven’t solidified the actual table names yet, but I have the drawings done for 13 tables (we will probably need a few more). Because I like to do projects that I know I can complete (it bolsters my self-esteem, what can I say?), I decided to make a couple of samples, just to see how they look. The little images on each placecard are cropped versions of the images that will be on the table numbers (I still haven’t figured out a design for said table numbers, but hey–one step at a time).
Ah, registering. I have been dreading this day since… well, probably since about 2 months ago, when I finally realized what’s actually INVOLVED with registering. Getting Mr. Cream Puff to participate would be difficult enough, but I had no idea how hard motivating MYSELF would be. That said, we finally did it! On Saturday, we started with dim-sum, then went to Macy’s, Crate and Barrel and Bed Bath and Beyond. We started at 10am and didn’t finish until almost 10pm. It was a marathon by any standards–I’ve already gotten several comments of “WOW, I can’t believe you managed that!” I will say, it wasn’t easy. There were near fatalities (my shoes were very uncomfortable–I almost killed them, but instead put them in a Crate & Barrel bag and walked around in socks) and definite exhaustion involved. But we’re done!
Here are some pictures, and a few favorite items!
These are our game faces. They are very sexy.

When Mr. Cream Puff and I first started dating, he asked me if my past relationships had been romantic. My mind went back to the time I actually asked an ex-boyfriend to be romantic, then had to describe to him how to be romantic–which of course pretty much sucks
all the potential romance out of anything he could have done. Mr. Cream Puff, on the other hand, is incredibly romantic. When we first started dating, he did super romantic things, like slipping a bunch of tiny metal hearts in my coat pocket, so when my hands got cold I found them. And luckily, the romance hasn’t stopped. For example, the proposal was a pretty grand romantic gesture.
Because we got engaged at the Parkway Theater, I had a wonderful vision in my head for our Save the Date. We would be beautifully set in front of the Parkway, and I would use Photoshop to change the wording of the “Now Playing” sign to say “Save the Date: August 2008.” This was my inspiration (from knottie DynomiteWins):

“Add a memorable touch to your wedding with unique favors that match your theme.”
Looking back, it’s kind of funny how out of touch with reality I was when it came to wedding venues. Actually, I was out of touch on all things “wedding”.
Right after Mr. Cream Puff proposed, I remember his sister saying ominously, “I guess we know what YOU will be doing for the next year. Weddings are a lot of work.” Mr. Cream Puff and I looked at each other and rolled our eyes–we both thought she was being dramatic (even though she’s not a dramatic person at all!). “A YEAR?!” I recall saying to Mr. Cream Puff, “Come on!”
Then I called around looking for wedding venues the following September and was practically laughed at by multiple venues for even SUGGESTING that they would still have availability. I also remember being totally out of touch with the COST of a wedding. I actually thought it would be humanly possible for us to get married at the Conservatory of Flowers or the Ferry Building. Time for a wake-up call.
Hi! I’m Miss Cream Puff!
I’m feeling a lot of pressure to make this first entry super awesome. After all, you only get one chance to make a first impression, right? And of course, I want to make a good one. I could start by telling you any of a number of things. I could tell you about the way Mr. Cream Puff proposed to me, but I kind of feel like saving that story for later. I could tell you why I chose “Cream Puff” over all the other names I could have chosen, but that seems like kind of a boring topic (mostly because it’s a very short story!). Heck, I could even start detailing the numerous DIY projects I’ve started and half-completed. But for some reason, I just feel like rambling a little. So maybe I’ll just tell you about Mr. Cream Puff and I.
Let’s see, where to start. Well, most obviously, Mr. Cream Puff and I are inter-racial. Mr. Cream Puff is Chinese, and I’m Jewish. Our cultures are very important to both of us, so we’ll be incorporating both of them into our wedding. And speaking of incorporating both of our cultures, both of our last names are linked to our cultures and neither of us wanted to give them up– so we’re both going to hyphenate (yes, Mr. Cream Puff is changing his name! I’m totally proud of him).
