Mrs. Ribbons nominates Mrs. Daffodil’s comprehensive and detailed wedding timeline packet, available for download! Mrs. Ribbons says, “It had a schedule and then a detailed breakdown of what happened when. The doc was intended to be given to vendors/bridal party/etc, and it was a really wonderful template. I used it but never blogged about it.”

Edit: Thanks for the enthusiastic response! As promised, here is a sample of our wedding weekend packet, tailored just for the hive!
I wanted to add that after my original post, several people who had helped out with our wedding called me to let me know that, indeed, the packet had been extremely helpful and was really key to our uber smooth wedding day…which made me super happy to hear of course! And above is a pic to prove it! So hopefully, this (or something similar) will come in handy on your wedding day too!
Thanks for your patience as I made all the edits. Happy planning! Read more…

Many of you may remember my obsession with paper goods and wedding invitations, so you can imagine my delight when Sister Daffodil asked me to design her an invitation! A few weeks prior, we had picked out a canary yellow and light pink theme together for her wedding. I wanted the invitation to reflect her and BIL Daff’s personalities and how their wedding would likely be – lighthearted, joyful, but most of all, FUN! I’m excited to finally share with you how they turned out and how we did it! Read more…

Why, hello hive! Yes, it’s really me – I know, long time no blog! I guess I sort of missed doing a “one-year” post, but better late than never, right? Much has happened since I last posted, including many wedding/marriage-related things that I plan to write about… so I thought I’d give a preview of what’s to come in the form of a Daffodil update of sorts!
We celebrated our one-year wedding anniversary! We spent an extended weekend in beautiful Maui, a second honeymoon if you will (considering how our real honeymoon got cut short!). It was perhaps the most relaxing, carefree vacation either of us has ever had. It’s hard to believe we’re already quickly approaching the 1.5 year mark!

It’s unjust. You spend hours, days, even months searching and agonizing over finding the perfect dress. Then you finally find it, order it, wait forever for it to come, and go through the expensive alterations process. It’s finally completely perfect… and you get to wear it for a total of less than 24 hours!
I’ve been putting off this decision for a while, but the time has come to decide what to do with my beloved wedding gown. To be honest, I had always thought I would sell my dress. It’s the practical thing to do, considering how much it is worth and how much joy it could bring another person. Plus, I really never will have an opportunity to wear it again. Plus, we could use a new couch. Plus, it doesn’t deserve to be in a box forever. I could go on and on. So selling my dress was always the plan. Except, it’s been eight? no, NINE months, and I still can’t quite bring myself to put it out on the market.
You see, I’m a pretty sentimental person, being a scrapbooker and all. I love little keepsakes and saving things or pieces of things that elicit a beautiful memory. It is so easy to forget and take for granted all your blessings, and there is something about having a tangible keepsake that helps to keep those moments alive. My wedding gown… see, that is something so special and personal.

It’s hard to believe, but Sister Daffodil’s wedding is in three months! As her big sister and MOH (and not to mention, ahem, a newlywed who misses the whole wedding planning process), how can I help myself but do everything I can to help make her day perfect! I’ve got some great DIY paper crafts that I made for her wedding that I will share once those go out, but today, I wanted to share with you all the perfect little “something blue” that I got her for her birthday .
I wanted to get her something blue because… get ready for this…*gasp* I forgot to wear something blue on my own wedding day. Inspired by the crystal heart that Mrs. Lovebug’s friend added to her necklace, I decided I was going to handcraft my sister a crystal bouquet charm. But believe it or not, I had the most difficult time finding a blue Swarovski crystal heart in the right size and shade of blue. I was determined, and started looking for pieces of jewelry that had the crystal heart in them, thinking I would take one apart to create the charm I had in mind. But after a few hours of research, I discovered there was no need to, for I stumbled upon exactly what I had envisioned!

It’s funny how, after having gone through the entire wedding planning process, you find a new appreciation for every minute detail of every wedding you attend! I had the honor of serving as the bridal attendant for my new cousin-in-law, Jean, this weekend. You may recall her and Austin’s mountaintop engagement I posted about a while back . I kid you not, it was one of the most perfect and beautiful weddings EVER. Everything about the day was amazing, from the miraculous sunshine (it was forecasted as a 70% chance of heavy showers!) to the flowers, from her gorgeous gown to the venue, and of course, the happy (not to mention hot!) couple!
Anyhow, I just had to share all the details with the hive, both as inspiration and also because I know you all will just eat up all this eye candy! First of all, let me introduce you to the GORGEOUS bride!

This post is long overdue! This is the addendum to my original post back in August about our “Wedding Weekend Packet”. We created the primary packet for our friends and family, but gave our vendors smaller, individualized versions. I promised I would share them, so here they are! I have to confess… the thank-you cards took longer than expected. We sent them out in waves… to all of our parents’ friends within the first 5 weeks, to our family members and relatives over the next two months, and finally to all of our own friends that we invited slowly over the following months. But I am happy to report that we finished writing EVERY single one of them the week before we sent out our Christmas cards… which means, now that all our guests have received them, I can share the details with the hive!
Many of our friends asked where we ordered them from, but the truth is that we made all 200+ of these at home by ourselves, and it was very easy, cost-effective, and personal! This is how we did it… Read more…

It takes talent to keep an event moving seamlessly and ensure that guests are entertained at all times! This post is dedicated to Weddingbee reader thetwoparks, who referred me to our awesome DJ. I’ll be sharing my thoughts on all our vendors in a post to come, but I wanted to specifically highlight the amazing DJ Tim Coy, who truly deserved his own post! He really did an unbelievable job in keeping our reception flowing and every moment super fun!

I had barely recovered from Mr. D’s surprise before the DJ announced that the father-daughter dance would begin in a couple minutes. I left to quickly change back into my gown. I know it is atypical to change back, but I just loved my gown and I wanted to be dancing with my dad and Mr. D in it .

Our DJ made an announcement for everyone to hold on as some folks got ready for the next show. Next show? What on earth was he talking about? I looked over and saw Sister Daffodil and Mr. D’s uncle fidgeting with the laptop and projector. I turned to Mr. D and he gave me a look that indicated he knew nothing about what was going on.

And roll it did! As soon as we got seated, our pastor prayed a blessing over the evening and the catering staff began bringing out the first courses. After everyone had been served, the toasts quickly began.

The day just continued to fly by! The reception was about to begin. We headed toward the ballroom for the ever fun grand entrance of the bridal party.
Now, believe it or not, it took Mr. D and me forever to pick out the songs for the grand entrance! We wanted to kick off the party with fun and energetic tunes and to show off our goofy side as well! We finally settled on two silly and random selections. Read more…

It’s cliche, but true: your wedding day goes by in a blur. Which is why it is so important to steal away moments with your loved ones as much as you possibly can!
We couldn’t believe that the ceremony was over… we were really married! After so many years. Here, we steal away a moment outside for a kiss before our wedding party and guests file out.

Yes, THEM… as in, our OFFICIAL wedding photos! Early last week, I received an eagerly anticipated email from our photographer, Scott Robert, with a link to our official wedding slide show and a simple message of, “I hope you like them!” And guess what? The whole thing was just beautiful.
