I must say, the wedding is really sneaking up on me now! Today a co-worker asked me how many weeks were left and after checking Google docs I realized… SIX WEEKS! Holy bananas, that is not very many weeks, and I have so many events on my calendar during those weeks! One event that came and went on Monday was my makeup trial. I had booked a makeup artist a few months ago. She had wonderful reviews and was super nice on the phone, and to be perfectly honest, I hadn’t thought much about it since then. I wear makeup everyday, but my routine takes about two minutes. For a special event I’ll add some eyeliner to the mix, but in general I don’t think or know too much about makeup. But, I do like to be prepared! So I did some internet browsing the afternoon of my trial and found an inspiration pic that I loved.

Have I mentioned I am obsessed with our photographer? Oh, yea, I have. Well in case you didn’t get the memo…I am obsessed with our photographer! We clicked at our initial meeting, I stalk her and her adorable twin babies on Facebook, and my obsession was solidified at our engagement shoot. Why I am so obsessed? The reasons are plentiful. I’ll let our e-pics help me explain…
As a fellow doggie owner and lover, she came equipped with pup treats for Echo. Major points in Echo’s book, and anyone who gets major points in Echo’s book gets major points in my book.
One of the many wonderful inclusions of our all-inclusive wedding is the music for our ceremony. When I went to write this post, I was going to start off by telling you all about the different options that we had for our ceremony music, but the truth is—I can’t even remember the other options! Clearly, this was an easy choice for us. After all, who doesn’t love…
An acoustic guitar! We thought this would go perfectly with our outdoor, rustic wedding. And as soon as I heard sample music from the guitarist that will be playing at our wedding, my heart melted.

When I wrote about the new outfit I got for our engagement pictures, I quickly found out that I am not alone in my guilty pleasure of buying lots of new outfits for wedding festivities! Now that I know I am not the only one in the dressing room squealing, “but it will be perfect for the (insert wedding-related activity here)!” I figured I would go ahead and share another new outfit I will be sporting: my rehearsal dinner dress!

Unique Wedding Favors

This past weekend we took our engagement pictures! Because our photographer is the bomb and got the pictures to us super fast, I promise to share them with you very soon. But I realized that before I do, I better squeeze in a quick post about the outfit I picked out for the photo shoot! Unlike Miss Dragon - and major props to her to her by the way- I was a stereotypical bride and did buy a new outfit (Mr. D, if you are reading this, I promise I got good deals!). I swear I did not freak out about what I was going to wear. Over think, perhaps, but not freak out.
We’ll jump right to the core, the heart of any perfect outfit: cowboy boots!

Along with the plethora of inspiration that was available at the Cedarwood Style Show, there was also a plethora of downright delicious cake flavors for us to try! Now, I must admit that unfortunately we did not plan this too well. You see, MOH K, Mama Dalmatian and I had a BIG traditional southern breakfast (we’re talking biscuits and honey, country ham, blueberry pancakes, cinnamon French toast, bacon, sausage, you name it!) before going to Cedarwood. This meant that there wasn’t much room left in our bellies to be tasting cake!

Create the honeymoon of your dreams.
Hello Hive! I am so sorry that I have been missing in action for a little bit, but we have knocked out some major wedding tasks, and I can’t wait to share them all with you! Mama Dalmatian came into town last weekend and we had what can only be described as a supremely-fun, utterly-exhausting, wedding-planning extravaganza of a weekend.
First up: the Cedarwood Style Show. This downright lovely event is hosted by our venue once a year and all of their brides are invited. They have vendors, including caterers and a cake baker (we’ll get to those at a later date) as well as lots of tables and set-ups showing off their amazing décor and style ideas.
Luckily, we had a beautiful spring day here in Nashville. I can only hope that our wedding day is filled with that much sunshine (with hopefully a few more degrees)! As we walked up the path we were greeted by this and I was practically bursting with excitement.

So I already shared with you the props I plan to use at our engagement pictures, but there is one more prop that I had to save for its own post…a BALLOON!
Mr. Dalmatian is not exactly in love with the artsy, whimsical look that I want to achieve by incorporating a balloon, but the price tag of only a couple dollars was very helpful in convincing him to go along with the idea. In order to reel things in a little bit (for the sake of Mr. D), I agreed that we could just use one balloon instead of an entire bushel.

As amazing as this photo is, I do want to be able to see our faces, and I don’t want to send poor Mr. Dalmatian running in the other direction. So we are thinking more along these lines:
Just a few more weeks! Not until our wedding… there are still a few more months until that—but there are only a few more weeks until our engagement pictures! And I am very excited.
Some of you may be thinking that it is a little late to be taking engagement pictures. After all, we are rapidly approaching it being an entire year from the day that Mr. Dalmatian got down on one knee and gave me the most stunning ring I have ever seen. But our photographer had twin babies very soon after we booked her last fall (and I now stalk her on Facebook to admire the freakishly adorable pics she posts!) and we pushed the date back as far as possible because we want it to be as warm as possible for our outdoor shoot (speaking of babies, Mr. D and I are both total wimps when it comes to dealing with cold weather).
First, let me give you an idea of the site of the shoot. Our wedding venue, Cedarwood, has a ton of beautiful property and we are going to take advantage of this country oasis that is only a quick drive from the city!
I am a little dog obsessed. Okay okay, that is not an entirely accurate statement… I am a lot dog obsessed. I did choose to be Miss Dalmatian after all! You may recall when I introduced you to the two most important pups in my life. Bailey lives up in Chicago with my parents and is my family’s dog, so while I love her infinitely, she will not be included in the wedding festivities. Echo, on the other hand, lives here in Nashville and belongs to Mr. Dalmatian and me. He is a huge part of our life as a couple (I don’t know what we would do all day if we couldn’t sit around and admire his cuteness). So I knew from the beginning I wanted him to somehow be involved in this crazy process of getting married.

After creating a second version of the table numbers that made me happy, it was time to put together some stands to hold these table numbers. I had decided a long time ago that I was going to use wooden spools as the base for these stands. But I also needed something to attach to the spools to hold the numbers.
Enter the Nashville flea market. I thoroughly confused MOH K when we walked into the main building of the flea market last month and within about 30 seconds I had purchased a drum picture frame. When she asked if I had started some sort of bizarre drum memorabilia collection, I laughed and explained that I in fact planned to detach the drum and use just the picture holders that had been sticking out of it. Between the drum frame and one other that I had found at an antique store, I had enough to take on my table number holder project!
I had a bag full of wooden spools that were ready and waiting. I had these thanks to Mama Dalmatian, who kindly unrolled all of her decorative ribbons from Sundance and placed it into baggies so that she could send me the lovely wooden spools they it had come on.
When I think of our Valentine’s Day dinner tradition, my mouth waters. Not because we go to the fanciest restaurant in town or share a plate of fine cuisine, but because I love a Frosty. Yes, a Frosty—as in the milkshake deliciousness offered by Wendy’s. Yes, Wendy’s—as in the fast food restaurant that has the girl with the red pigtails. Because every year on February 14th, Mr. Dalmatian and I enjoy a meal of cheeseburgers (with bacon for Mr. D), Frosty’s, and fries if we’re feeling crazy!
So how did this start? Well, the first Valentine’s day that Mr. D and I were officially dating I had planned a big dinner that I was going to cook him in the kitchen of our dorm. Things didn’t exactly go as planned. That afternoon, we were running some errands and our Sam’s Club trip took a little longer than expected. We were both hungry and tired, so we decided to grab dinner at Wendy’s instead of taking on the challenge of a very dirty and very old dorm kitchen.
So how did Wendy’s become a tradition? Well, that goes back to the first day that Mr. Dalmatian and I met. On move-in day of freshmen year of college, we went to Wendy’s for lunch with a group. This group consisted of me, Mr. Dalmatian, Bridesmaid E, and another guy that lived on Mr. D’s hall. Now, I can’t exactly argue that it was love at first sight. In fact, I didn’t even remember that Mr. Dalmatian was one of the boys that came with us until Bridesmaid E reminded me years later. But regardless of how oblivious I was, it was still the day we met. So in addition to sinfully tasty fast food, convenience, and affordability—Wendy’s also has just a touch of romance!

I realize that at this point, with the wedding only three months away (eek!), I am supposed to be steadily checking things off of my to-do list. For the most part, I have been doing a good job at this. However, there have also been a few things on which I have moved in the wrong direction. What do I mean by this? Well, there are a few projects that I thought were checked off my list until they managed to sneak their way back on.
Now, I have no one to blame but myself for this. You see, in some ways I consider myself good at going with the flow (OK, this may not be my strongest point, but I’m working on it!), but in other ways I am a perfectionist. So, when my table-number project was not settling well with me, I felt the need to redo it. I was still totally in love with the vintage flashcards, so those would definitely make it into version 2.0. The backings I had painted for them, however, had to go. I did not have a problem with the backings in and of themselves, I just know that we have a lot of different details that will be going on the tables (more info about these details still to come), and I was worried about things crossing the line from bright and whimsical to busy and overdone.
Luckily, among my extra flashcards I had almost every number I needed to create another full set, and was able to pick up the couple I was missing from EmmyLucy on Etsy. After a quick trip to Michaels for a piece of paper-thin wood, a decorative corner punch, and little tiny pearls courtesy of Martha Stewart crafts, I was ready to go!
Step 1: Trim the cards a little and line them up to make sure the piece of wood is big enough. (Mine was just barely!)
Last week I thought to myself, “Hey, I bet we are getting close to the 100-day mark,” and I headed over to our wedding website where Mr. Dalmatian so helpfully included a countdown. Lo and behold, when I went to check there were 99 days and 20 hours! I swear I was a good blogger and snapped a screenshot at the time, but unfortunately I was not such a good computer user and there was a box over poor Mr. D’s face in the picture. So here is a snapshot from today—we are now down to the 96-day mark!
Isn’t he handsome? You can see why I wouldn’t want to deprive you of a glimpse at that gorgeous face!
I told you about our honeymoon wish list. I told you about the unbelievably smooth booking process through our travel agent. But I have not told you about one minor detail…where are we going?
Since I have already made you wait this long I will not drag it out any longer… we… are…going…to…(ok, I lied, but I’m done now, hehe)…SECRETS MAROMA! It is an all-inclusive resort on Maroma Beach, just south of Cancun in Mexico.
