Mr. Ducky likes infomercials. I’m not really sure why, but he just is extremely entertained by them and usually wants whatever they are offering. Well, one day the roles reversed when I watched an infomercial for the Cricut. It was this amazing papercutting machine that could make anything! See the video below for a quick demo of the Cricut in action:
As I watched the infomercial I could only imagine the amazing things that could be created with the Cricut. I eventually forgot about the Cricut because it was simply out of budget, and I had already spent way too much money at Michaels. Then… for my birthday, Mr. Ducky surprised me with my very own Cricut!! And it is just as awesome as the infomercial said it was! (I sound like such a craft nerd right now.) It is really easy to use, and the detail of things that it can cut out is amazing. For example, I had it cut out a cityscape and it cut out tiny little windows for all the office buildings.
I have always been a fan of DIY. I think it is an amazing way to express your personality and get a certain level of satisfaction in knowing you created something. My perfectionism also comes out in DIY, which is not such a good thing, but I am working on it. Mr. Ducky and I are both DIY people, but with different talents. We are hoping to DIY as much as we can at the wedding to not only save money, but also to share a part of ourselves that day with friends and family. We hope that people can walk away from our wedding saying, “That was so Mr and Miss Duckling,” or just feeling like they know us a little bit better. My first DIY project of the wedding has been creating my “Will you be my bridesmaid” cards. I have not quite finished them yet, but I will share them this week as soon as they are completed and mailed out.

I was on Martha Stewart Weddings website this weekend and loved these candles she had featured in her fall favors. What perfect candles for the fall!
I then figured out that they are DIY!

The color palette of your wedding is a big decision. The colors you choose will be what you see on a daily basis through your planning process, a part of the photos that are captured that day and will set the mood and tone of your wedding. (Not to sound dramatic or anything.) But it really does seem like an important choice! We are trying to make the final decision on what colors we want to use (at least to start). Mr. Ducky is doing the graphic design for our monogram, stationery, website, and other fun details… so I need to pick the colors and we can start that process. However, there is the small problem of him being slightly colorblind. He can tell basic colors, but distinguishing between similar shades or colors can be difficult. (Such as the time he got me an orange gift thinking it was pink!) Therefore, I hope to get your feedback on this decision!
I first discovered Colourlovers a while ago, but just decided to try to create my own color palette. Here is what I am thinking so far:

Our color palette
“WHAT!?! I’m a bee!! Wait, stay calm, you are in public,” were my initial thoughts when I first received my Weddingbee acceptance as I was checking my email at work. Why Miss Duckling? I just thought the little ducky was so adorable from the first time Mrs. Bee debuted the new baby characters. Mr. Ducky even gave me a rubber duck a while ago to put in my bathtub since I use bubble baths to de-stress.
My Weddingbee addiction began the first time I visited the site to check out Mrs. Lemon’s wedding after my cousin’s recommendation. I’ve loved keeping up with all the bees’ planning and becoming a part of the fabulous hive community. I couldn’t be more honored to be the newest bee to the hive and I hope that I can live up to the talents and planning genius of previous bees.
Alright, now for some basic details on us and our wedding…
Mr. Duckling (a.k.a. Mr. Ducky) and I met my freshman year of college, but we didn’t become “us” until 2 years later, after I returned from a year abroad in London. Long story short, we started dating after reconnecting when I got back, and the rest is history. Mr. Ducky and I love to have fun, and in one another have found the person we can truly be ourselves with. He is the most loving and giving person and is a constant source of joy and support in my life. He’s in heaven at Home Depot/Apple Store and I find my bliss in Michaels. We decide many major decisions by best of 3 in Rock, Paper, Scissors. This is how we finally came to an agreement on the day of our first date. He won.
