When Mr. EB and I first started planning our wedding we had a lot of discussions about what we wanted it to feel like. We wanted the focus to be on our family and our friends—our community coming together to support our love and our relationship.

I absolutely love dancing. I look ridiculous while doing it, but it’s just so much fun I can’t help it. Mr. EB, however, is not a fan of dancing. But he promised to dance with me at our wedding, and he more than lived up to that promise (and I’m pretty sure he had some fun, too!).

After dinner was served it was time for the toast. Oh, the toasts!

Finally, it was time for the meal that I had been looking forward to ever since we chose IslandWood as our venue - dinner!
Several months prior, we sat down with our coordinator at IslandWood, Marla, and the head chef, Jim, to plan our weekend menu, and specifically what the wedding dinner would include. IslandWood is focused on providing sustainable and local food wherever possible, so we knew from the beginning that we wanted this dinner to reflect the Northwest in winter time.

Once we were finished with family pictures we could finally join our guests for cocktail hour!
Even though we’d seen a lot of our guests the day before at the welcome dinner or the bonfire, there were some guests who were only able to make it to the wedding, so I made it a point to try to seek them out first.

After the ceremony ended and Mr. EB and I were finally married, there was one more thing we had to do to make it legal—sign the marriage certificate.
Annemarie made sure to have a place in the back set up for us specifically to have a few moments alone and to sign the marriage license.

As we drove back to the Great Hall after pictures with our bridal party, I finally started to get the teensiest bit nervous. It was time! Time to say the vows in front of my family and friends that would make Mr. EB my husband. Time to listen to him say those same vows. Time to declare in front of our community that we were a family.

If I do say so myself, we had a pretty spectacular group of people surrounding us on our wedding day. From our siblings to some of our oldest and dearest friends, these are the people who have known us the longest and supported us in all we’ve done.

All along, I knew I wanted us to do a first look. Mr. EB took a little bit of convincing, and I think if it had been totally up to him, he probably would have preferred us wait to see each other until I walked down the aisle. But I really wanted the time with him alone, before we were around anyone else. I wanted to look him in the eyes, to hug him and kiss him, to celebrate the step that we were about to take and have it be a private moment for just the two of us (and our photographers too, but Kat and Justin felt like old friends by that point, so it didn’t seem weird that they were there). Luckily, after I explained my feelings about this to Mr. EB, he was more than happy to go along!
Since we ended up having such beautiful weather, Kat suggested that we do our first look at the suspension bridge.
