Wedding Cake Ornament

December 22nd, 2011 @ 10:40 am by Mrs. Elephant

Guess who’s back? OK, it’s just for one holiday post, but I loved coming back for the randomizer series and wanted to drop back in and share one of my recent projects.

I have been intrigued by polymer clay ever since we ordered our cake toppers from Etsy seller Mud Cards. Keren did such an amazing job on the first topper, that we had her make a second one as well.

Wedding Cake Ornament : wedding crafts dallas decor diy 9203 9203

Since our engagement in 2009, I’ve tried to get a different ornament each holiday season to remember that year by. With Christmas around the corner, I started to think about what our ornament for this year would be. Being our first newlywed Christmas, I wanted this ornament to be special and DIY it.

But what should I make?

I threw around a couple of ideas, before I circled back to my original (and favorite) idea, a replica of our wedding cake! After a quick stop at Michael’s, who was having a sale on clay (originally $2.29, on sale 4 for $5), it was time to get started.

The Randomizer: Elephant

December 8th, 2011 @ 12:37 pm by Mrs. Elephant

I loved the idea of revisiting our wedding day with a random pick of pictures. Here is a random snapshot of the Elephant Wedding starting off with our first look. Not the prettiest of faces, but it shows how emotional I was to see Mr. E for the first time on our wedding day.

It’s So Hard To Say Goodbye

September 8th, 2011 @ 6:37 pm by Mrs. Elephant

Not only to yesterday, but also to you—the hive. I held off long enough to share our album and video with you, and now it looks like it’s time to say goodbye.

I can still remember the rush of excitement I felt when I received that acceptance email from Pengy a little over a year ago. Your warm welcome and incredibly sweet comments as I shared with you our blue and green, travel themed wedding truly made an impact. Not only on our special day, but also in my heart. I don’t think there are words to express how much this experience has meant to me.

Weddingbee inspired me to find my inner DIY crafter and create various projects as well as all of our paper products from our invites to those infamous programs. You weren’t just there for all of the fun, pretty stuff. You were there when vendors fell off the face of the planet and when the stress became just a little bit too much. And for that, I can’t thank you enough.

Wedding Memories

September 7th, 2011 @ 8:10 am by Mrs. Elephant

Our album and wedding video are in and they are AMAZING!!!

Part of our wedding package included an album for us and one for each set of parents. After seeing the pictures on our online gallery, I knew we would end up adding a couple of additional pages to our album. Our fabulous photographer Lynn mentioned that our wedding, with all of its details, would look pretty awesome in a unique 20 x 8 flipbook style and after seeing a couple of layouts we agreed and upgraded.

Wedding Memories : wedding album dallas Album0 album+0

We debated between green and brown for the cover, even put it to a vote on Lynn’s blog. As you can see green won out (which is what we were leaning towards from the beginning).

This past weekend Mr. E, the fam, and I traveled up to Philly to celebrate the wedding of BM Philly and her husband D.

Passport To Love: Budget Breakdown

August 29th, 2011 @ 12:24 pm by Mrs. Elephant

Let’s talk numbers, shall we? As a financial operations analyst, numbers are actually my friend. Give me some spreadsheets and I’m a happy camper.

You may remember that we extended our engagement into a 25 month period in order to save up enough money for the wedding that we wanted to have. We were fortunate to receive some financial help from my parents, and Mr. E and I paid the other 65%. I’m going to be very honest with you all—we ended up spending a pretty penny on the wedding. There were splurges that were not needed, but totally wanted. We ended up going over budget, (but I’m throwing in everything I can possibly think of) so here’s how it breaks down. It’s a little long, but I added pictures to help :)

Guests: 120

Original Budget: $35,000

Venue: The Tribute Golf Club, The Colony TX

Passport To Love: Send Off Brunch

August 23rd, 2011 @ 2:05 pm by Mrs. Elephant

Waking up the morning after our wedding was another early morning. Sometimes I really wish I could just sleep in. Our wedding package at the Tribute included breakfast in bed, but since we were up so early we decided to pick up the room, pack up the car and enjoy our delicious breakfast in the pub. The staff was busy preparing for their Easter brunch, so we ate in a booth out of their way. After turning in our suite key, we drove off saying one last goodbye to our wedding venue through the side mirror.

We arranged for our guests to enjoy one last wedding weekend event at the hotel that so many of them were staying at. Mama E did a wonderful job of repurposing our flowers and wedding decor to fancy up the hotel conference room.

As the clock was nearing the end of our reception, we had two songs to end the night right. As my fellow Aggie Mrs. Cardigan already mentioned, the Aggie War Hymn is a staple of an Aggie wedding. (It was also played at the Hyenas’ wedding!)

Passport To Love: Tosses

August 16th, 2011 @ 7:00 pm by Mrs. Elephant

We weren’t hell bent on doing the traditional tosses since the single population in our crowd was very slim. I was ready to forgo them until I read Mrs. Hamster’s post on Weddingbee. Adding gift cards to the bouquet and garter would open it up to all guys and gals and we could get some awesome pictures.

Passport To Love: One Minor Detail

August 11th, 2011 @ 5:07 pm by Mrs. Elephant

With all of my organization, I thought we were beyond prepared for our wedding. Everything was packed, labeled and ready to go. The one thing that I forgot was probably one of the most important things of the night our marriage license.

Lynn’s 3rd photographer Audrey was a lifesaver and took my keys to go back to our apartment to get it. I later found out that she had to make two trips since no one listened to me when I said she would have to go through the garage because the front door was double locked.

With the marriage license in hand, we headed to the pub to have it signed by Revered Rosset.
