A couple of weeks ago we had our first meeting with a potential florist Charalali. I’m sooo sooo excited about flowers. Bouquets, boutonnieres, centerpieces, oh my!
Here are some of the things we discussed… (please let me know if I’m using any of your images.)
Ok this one is just in my dreams.

(knottie NPWedding)
I saw this cake on Carmelbride2006’s bio this morning, and it was like love at first site!! *BAM!* I emailed these pix to the fiancee, and he totally agrees!! YAY!! Unfortunately, we will be doing nothing cake-related for another few months… our venue outsources their cakes and is currently trying to choose a new bakery to be their exclusive vendor. So until they decide on one, we’re kind of left hanging. Boooo! I’m so looking forward to cake tastings!
I’ve always known that I wanted a dark chocolate ganache cake (chocoholic here), but was unsure about shape, decor, etc., but this is it!! Although I’m sure the fondant (or royal icing? gumpaste?) flowers are expensive, so perhaps we’ll substitute with fresh red and pink mokara orchids to give a similar delicate feel. *sigh* YUMMAY!!

I have 5 bridesmaids…
M - My 15 year old sister, aka my Maid of Honor
E - My longtime college friend, aka my Matron of Honor (I was her MOH 2 yrs ago)
J - Roommate and longtime college friend
S - 3 time college roomie too
B - My FI’s older sister (I was her MOH in her recent wedding)
I’ve been trying to decide what I want them to wear. Initially I liked the whole idea of letting them pick their own style dress from the same designer in the same color. I’ve already settled on the Jasmine brand, which has 2 lines, Belsoie and B2. But now I’m leaning towards them all wearing the same dress. Last weekend I had my girls M and B try on this dress, and I thought it was sooo purty! I actually love this whole uniform “look” of the bridesmaids below. Such casual, breezy elegance!!

I’ve always wanted to wear red shoes under my dress, but since my dress is rather ornate with all-over lace, sash and brooch (still need to find one), I’m thinkin’ maybe I should K.I.S.S.(keep it simple, stupid… haha). Maybe champagne shoes to match the champagne sash? I’ll have to try on some shoes with the dress, which makes me thankful that I get to take my precious home next week instead of anxiously awaiting 5 months… although there is the slight problem of it still being too tight, haha.
But I digress…
Oh, Stuart, how you taunt me with your sexy, expensive, and undoubtedly painful red d’Orsay pumps… ($250, nordstrom.com)

I found the perfect gift for my bridesmaids!! For $45, this Fragrance Gift Set from Sephora comes with 10 samples of their top selling perfumes and a voucher for $45 that can be redeemed for a full size bottle of any one of the included samples (slightly limiting, but I think this has a good selection?) I always thought perfume would be a lovely gift, but it’s such a personal thing for everyone. This seems like the perfect solution!!

We only briefly discussed honeymoon possibilities, but it looks like Hawaii is a winner! Although it is a “common” honeymoon destination, there is a reason for that - Hawaii is fabulous!! I’ve been there once, but Mr. Emerald hasn’t. We want to go someplace relaxing, scenic and beachy, but not completely remote like Bali or Thailand (one day though!!). Not to mention there are a few other factors:
1. We want to be able to use frequent flyer miles to pay for the flights. Between the two of us, we have enough points to book 2 roundtrip tickets to Hawaii (70,000 miles total). We should book soon though, cuz I was told that AA Advantage flights to Hawaii get snapped up quickly. We have a credit card that we are using for all wedding related charges to accumulate points, but that may take too long, so I am considering transferring some of my points to Mr. Emerald since I have extra and he doesn’t have quite enough (but that costs $50/5000 mile increment!).
2. I work for a 4 star hotel chain (I’d prefer not to say the exact name) so we have to go somewhere with my hotels so that I can take advantage of my free stays. I just booked them, and we are saving about $3000 - $3500 in hotel costs!! We will also be upgraded… oooo I can’t believe we have to wait 9 more months to go!!
I’m so excited to be Miss Emerald on Weddingbee!!!! YAYYYYY!!
FI is too cute… Well, I guess I should start calling him Mr. Emerald?? When I told him I was now a weddingbee, he asked if there was a WeddingCaterpillars or something like that for the grooms. Hehe… I love this man!! ![]()
