When it comes to jewelry, I go all out. I’m not the type of girl who likes the simple stuff… my friends call me Miss Glam! I was more excited about finding my jewelry than my actual dress. (Can you believe it? And yes I actually bought my jewelry before I ordered my dress.)
My dress is simple, therefore my accessories basically needed to be the WOW factor of my whole ensemble. The search wasn’t very long before I found the perfect set. I love my jewelry so much… I wear in the house once in a while. It’s an authentic Austrian crystal choker necklace with matching earrings.
In my introductory post, I talked about why M. Flamingo and I considered ourselves to be pink, one legged (the majority of the time), long beaked birds. But before I continue, I just wanted to point out that I am the first Montreal Bee. Happy to be representing!

Ever since I was a little girl, I envisioned the perfect proposal by my Prince Charming. I thought that the question might be asked down on one knee, with a diamond ring in a champagne glass or perhaps something a little more creative like announcing it on the monitor at a Habs game. All these options would have been an excellent choice, and I would of been extremely happy regardless of how the proposal happened.
Almost three years ago, after we came home from a family party on Christmas Eve, Mr. Flamingo and I decided to open our gifts at the stroke of midnight for the whole “magic” aspect of Christmas, and because it was our first real Christmas together. We started dating 2 weeks prior to the 25th the previous year, so in my eyes it didn’t really count as our first Christmas together.
After opening all our presents, I noticed there was a little red and gold box left. I was completely clueless of what was about to happen. My sweetie grabbed the box and then proposed to me, and of course I accepted. But there was no getting down on one knee, no champagne to celebrate, nothing. At the moment I was ecstatic about the whole idea of getting married, but at the same time I was a little disappointed that the proposal wasn’t quite what I had imagined it would be.

I’ve been engaged for almost 3 years. Yup, I know it’s a really long time, but when I got engaged, I wasn’t really ready to take the plunge both for monetary reasons and because I felt I was still too young. Nonetheless, I started planning my wedding a good year and a half if not two years in advance. I know that’s a long time, but I’m a very organized person and I wanted to get everything done as soon as possible from choosing my theme, to my colors to my vendors.
I started calling vendors left and right to book appointments, and I wasn’t lucky when it came to some of the people I called… so I have labeled every single one of them a vendorzilla! I even made them an official logo!!!
My wedding, having a vintage glam theme, is a mix of both the movie influence of the 30’s and the glam that came with it (chandeliers, red carpet, etc.). I’ve always dreamt of having individual chandeliers at each table at my wedding. It would be so luxurious, but for several reasons, it’s not possible. First off, I’m not allowed to hang things from the ceiling of my reception hall, not to mention that having a chandelier at each table would be too expensive.

Before I start spilling the beans about my dress, I thought I would give some details about all the other stuff. To start off, let’s talk about shoes.
I wanted a peep toe satin heel shoe, but I debated lots on whether I should get a colored shoe, and a low or high heel. What it came down to it, was I getting the shoes for beauty or comfort? Well, ladies and gentlemen, I went for beauty. I will probably take them off half way though the reception, but what’s a wedding if you don’t dance bare foot… right?
These are my gorgeous shoes! I absolutely love them. I even try them on once a week and walk around the house with them… isn’t that pathetic? I found them at ZARA for $79 Canadian. Even though they make my feet extra pretty, I felt they were missing a little glamour to them, so I bought some rhinestone shoe clips off eBay.
After setting the date, it was time to decide on a theme. Even though themes aren’t necessary, I knew I wanted one for my wedding. This was one part of the wedding that wasn’t really hard to figure out. Being a fan of anything glamour, I thought it would be a neat to incorporate it in my wedding.
Mr. Flamingo left me with majority of the decision making, and I basically had carte-blanche. So my ideas started flowing. I wanted a modern glamour wedding, so that meant pearls, chandeliers, golds, pinks and champagnes.
After our official countdown began, my sweetie started to show interest in the planning. I was really happy about this, because not many guys (I know) take part of the planning. As time passed, I realized that the glamour part of our theme was more me than him, and we needed to find something that suited the both of us! It finally came to me at 2 o’clock in the morning on a weekday. Mr. Flamingo is a fan of anything movies, so we decided to combine the two.
