Even though the bouquet toss is a big wedding cliché, it’s a must for me and our wedding wouldn’t be the same without it. I’m a fresh flower lover and my toss bouquet will get the same amount of attention as my own bridal bouquet.

I received an email from our photographer a month and a half ago asking for a detailed list of our wedding day events - from the time he needs to be at my place for my bridal pics to the locations where we want to have our first married couple pictures taken.
Because our photography is situated in the downtown core of Montreal and I live in the suburbs (about 35 minutes away), I don’t expect them to know the perfect spots for these shots. I originally wanted to find an abandoned house, you know with broken windows and ripped curtains, but I wasn’t able to find that. So I kept on looking. Well even living around the area, the task was not easy. After over a month of searching, I finally found a great spot.

I have a confession to make - we’re not having any decorations at the church. I thought that since we’re going to be there for a whole 45 minutes, I’d rather spend the money on decor for our reception site. That being said, I still thought that our guests should have a little something themish at the ceremony.
Programs have always been a stationery item I’ve loved. They can be pretty, personalized and serve as information/mementos for your guests. I’ve spent hours looking for neat ideas for our program. Here are a few I’ve collected:

A couple of weeks ago, I asked your help in choosing my cake design. The response was really great, but the votes were split and now I’m torn between the two models. I really liked having the chandelier in the design… like many of you mentioned, it’s different and most definitely has that WOW factor.
So with all your great suggestions, I’ve decided to make some modifications. Here is round 2. (click to enlarge)
Just to clarify things, here are the specifications of the cake: Round, 3 tier or 4 tier, layer of each (vanilla, chocolate and marble cake), fondant all over, airbrush design for all the patterns (chandelier and invitation motif)

Even though I wish I could take the risk of making my own fresh flower bouquet for the wedding, I thought it would be best to hire a professional. That way I won’t have extra stress the day of and that’s a good thing.
For my flowers I wanted something fluffy… basically that’s the definition of peonies. They are my ultimate favorite bloom and I love big and full bodied flowers. This inspiration of bouquets is pretty much what I am going for.

Always in search of great gift ideas, I came across Letter Your Legacy thanks to the Handcrafted Blog. I love photography and there is just something so special about it when it’s done in an interesting manner. Letter Your Legacy is a company that makes unique framed photographic word art.
I thought this was a great gift to give to newlyweds… not only does it highlight a new name, but what a great piece to put in your first home. You can even customize your name and choose what type of imagery you would like to have for each letter.
Even though here in Quebec we don’t change our names after we’re married (it actually costs us money to do so), I thought it would be a great piece to have for our future family. Maybe on top of our future fireplace.
Will you be doing something fun with your new name?

I had a surprise bridal shower two weeks ago, and I didn’t know it would be this big event! The shower was held in a reception hall at a hotel near my house. So when Mr. Flamingo told me we were going to eat brunch at the hotel… I knew what was going on.
The whole thing was possible thanks to my loving mom, stepmom and maid of honor. Now I know my mom had a hard time planning this shower, especially since I live in the apartment downstairs. I sometimes make unexpected visits here and there, and let me say she will never plan something for me again as long as I live under the same roof.

I’ve been thinking about my wedding undergarments for some time now. I would have loved to have a beautiful set like the ones below, but it’s easier and better letting the ladies free.

Today is officially my birthday. Now, I’m not one to get depressed or anything because I am one year older… but this year is a double whammy: Not only am I the big 25, but it’s my last birthday as a single lady.

Here in the province of Quebec, we have something we like to call Quebec Television. Unlike other provinces, we not only have American channels but also our own independent primetime French language soap operas and TV dramas. Let’s say we have our mini Quebec Hollywood thing going on.
Now you must be wondering why I’m writing about this… please bear with me. We have one local channel called Canal Vie (basically it’s sort of like a French version of TLC) that has a wedding show called La BossedesNoces (translation - The Wedding Boss), where a team of people help you with your wedding planning and problems you might come across along the way.

Like I had mentioned in my previous post, Mr. Flamingo and I wanted some type of chandelier on a stand for our centerpieces, but we didn’t want to make a big hole in our budget. While shopping for the holidays, I suddenly had this “AWWWWWWWW” moment - and I apologize because I never showed you what that AWWW piece was.

If Mr. Flamingo could fly and have all of Superman’s powers, he would be the happiest man alive (it’d make him happier than getting married to me - I’m serious ) His bond with Superman is unbreakable… so I have to play Lois Lane once in a while.

Our first dance song choice has been a source of debate for the longest time, but being almost a month away from the wedding, I think it’s time to make a decision. I wanted to use “our song” - I truly love it and it would have so much more meaning if we danced to it on our wedding day. It’s not a popular song and that’s what I love about it. I’m really into unique song choices and Lifehouse’s Take me away (acoustic version) is just that.

Because I want our cake to match our whole themed wedding, I thought it would be easier if I designed it rather than try explaining everything to our baker over email or phone. Depending on how many slices we will get, it might be a 3 tier or 4 tier cake. After looking at all the designs I liked, this is what I came up with: (for a 3 tier cake)

If there is one thing Mr. Flamingo was really interested in, it was the decor of the reception site. He wanted to have a specific look and since we’re going vintage, he thought it would be neat to go all out and rent outdoor lighting - but for inside. That’s exactly what we will be doing.
Two weeks ago, Mr. Flamingo and I went to Paul Gregoire a local lighting company which offers rental services. We wanted to recreate a vintage-in-the-park kinda look and this is what we got…
