A few weekends ago, my bridesmaids and sisters threw me a bridal shower at my mom’s house in San Francisco. When they first started planning the shower, they asked me if I had any specific requests.
My reply? “Games. Lots of games! And mango salsa.” They’re the two things that I loved the most (aside from Mr. French Toast). I love to organize and play games at parties and showers. And I could eat a whole gallon of mango salsa everyday if I could. (Just kidding, but I do love to eat mango anything.)
And boy did they deliver.
The first game was a scavenger hunt—in our own purses! Everyone had to dig through their purses to find specific items on the list.
Here’s my sister Maggie diligently scouring through her purse.

I’ve never heard of a blueberry donut before so I was really excited to try it when Mr. French Toast told me about a bakery in San Francisco that made sinfully delicious blueberry donuts. One day he drove me to try the said donut. To our utter disappointment, the bakery shop was out of business.

Take a look at this photo and then bury it far, far into your mind.
Let’s pretend the 17 cent Ram stamp wasn’t even next to the pair of kumquats, because it’ll make me feel much better. I’ll never understand why USPS doesn’t have nice, neutral looking stamps. I just know that if you plan on getting the wedding rings (44 cents) or wedding cake (61 cents) stamps, you should order it in advance from usps.com. Don’t make the same mistake as I did thinking that you can casually walk in and buy pretty stamps to your heart’s content.
I brought 25 of these babies to the post office yesterday. When I asked the clerk if the invites could be hand-canceled, she gave me an exasperated look and said it would cost an additional $1.00 each.

Well…er… not really. But Mr. French Toast and I do have completely different tastes in music. He likes your head-banging, screamin’-at-the-top-of-your-lungs rock and alternative music. Me? I have no shame in listening to Justin Bieber or belting out Celine Dion at karaoke, with the occasional Chinese pop thrown in.

How could Mr. French Toast not understand my admiration for Andy Lau, who is quite possibly one of the biggest stars in Asia?
The first thing we do when we get in the car is decide who gets to dictate what music is playing in the car. Usually the driver gets the final say, but with Mr. French Toast behind the wheel most of the time, my strategy is to make him concentrate on the road while I slyly switch over to my songs.
So for this couple who couldn’t disagree more on music, how in the world were we going to agree on a playlist for the wedding, let alone a first dance song? Read more…

Whenever an awards show is on TV, Mr. French Toast and I play a game of “See -who-can yell-out-the-celebrity’s-name-the-fastest.” So if the camera panned to Julianne Moore, I’d yell out “Julianne Moore!” and give Mr. French Toast a smirk because I beat him to it.
However, last night while watching the Golden Globes, we played a game of “See-who-can identify-what-kind-of-tuxedo-the-men-are-wearing.” We had our eyes glued on the men to scope out the latest trends for 2011, because Mr. French Toast will soon have an important decision to make:

In the seven years that we’ve been together, I’ve seen him drop a tear…twice. Once was when he was watching a Chinese film about an estranged father and son, and the other time was when he discovered the company StillMotion and their same day edits.

Hollywood films sure make San Francisco look like a beautiful city. After all, this is where wedding movies like The Wedding Planner and The Bachelor were filmed. But one important reality that is left out of these fantasy movies is that parking space is not always readily available when you need them. We never see the actors and actresses circling around looking for parking!

Miss Pancakes’s post on doilies couldn’t have come at a better time because I was just about to share my DIY post on the adorable canvas totes, made possible by said doilies.
A few months ago while browsing through the glorious world of blogs, I came across a tutorial for this cute canvas tote:

I realized that in the process of planning a wedding, we brides-to-be constantly have these BRILLIANT ideas that absolutely, positively, seriously need to be done for the wedding.

When we started to plan the wedding, there was no doubt that Mokka was going to be a part of the big day. He is one of the reasons that Mr. French Toast and I realized we were ready to take the next step in life together. Because if we can raise a puppy together, heck, we can tackle anything! Right…?
After all, we’re talking about the dog who humped his way through the proposal…
